We had a fantastic time at Joya. Each of us ordered a different cocktail and they were all excellent. Favorite was the mango/tequila one. We ordered the octopus, morcilla, yucca frita, lamb kabab, tuna tartare and paella. They were all absolutely delicious. Portions were perfect. We shared all the tapas and the paella. We had a great time, service was great and we loved the location, parking was easy and walking around the area was really fun.

It was a place we frequent quite often. But they’ve done away with my favorite chicken dish and the server was not very helpful. I ended up having the shrimp dish on Coconut rice however it was so hot neither myself or my husband could eat it. It was so spicy hot. We asked for some bread & sho brought some tortillas.

The octopus was chewy, the boquerones underwhelming but the braised short beef tacos we're yummy. Their Spanish dishes were mediocre which made me sad, I love tapas. The Mexican dishes were tasty but that's not hard to fine in Cali.

The restaurant is cozy and elegant. The service was perfect. All the waiters were kind. Food was delicious. We had the cheese selection for appetizers, and the Argentinean steak as entree. The meat was delicious, tender, perfect. Because it was our anniversary, they gave us the dessert. Perfect place for a nice dinner.

Food was so bland! I dislike using salt but this was one of the rare times I wished there was a salt shaker on the table.

We were stashed at the back of the restaurant as a private party occupied the restaurant. They should have put that party back where we were crammed

My business associates and I shared a lively dinner at Joya. Ordering tapas allowed for a wide range of food preferences to be met. The food itself was excellent. Service was brisk and attentive, with no problem in adjusting the size of the order to the number of people who wanted each of the items. The location, on a corner with University Avenue is lively and since some people come only for a small meal, there was lots of activity in the room as people came and left.

Consistently good. I happened upon Joya during their soft opening many years ago and they are as good now as they were then. Great selection of both vegetarian and vegan-friendly food options and a great wine list. Service was great, we were never in need to anything but never felt that there was a hovering presence either - well done.

My husband, adult daughter and I were in Palo Alto for our daughter’s Admit day at Stanford. We were looking forward to a tapas meal at Joya. We were pretty disappointed. First, we ordered drinks. My cocktail was delicious, but my daughter’s sangria was watered down. The first thing we got were the tacos tapas, which were delicious. After that, we got the chickpeas/corn/manchego cheese fritters, crab cakes, empanadas and calamari. I didn’t try the calamari, but my husband liked it. My daughter liked the meat empanadas, but I thought they were mediocre at best. The veggie empanadas were definitely lacking flavor. However, the two sauces that came with the empanadas were very tasty. The fritters and crab cakes were awful, and almost indistinguishable one from the other. The fritters were, I guess, chickpeas, corn and cheese ground together, then battered and deep fried. They were crunchy on the outside, but when you bit into them, they were flavorless mush. You could not taste the cheese at all. The crab cakes, similarly, crunchy on the outside, flavor-less mush inside. The salad was average. We got churros with chocolate sauce and the ice cream desserts. I didn’t like the churros; they were somewhat raw inside. The ice cream was pretty good. Overall, I found most of the food to be lacking in flavor, masked with deep frying. The prices were way too high for what the food was. I wouldn’t return. We also at at Flea street, which was very expensive, but the food was delicious and therefore worth it.

Thank you to Uriel for his excellent service. Mimosas kept on coming without me asking for it. He was very knowledgeable with the menu and food.

I've been wanting to go there and finally made it, to celebrate my birthday and my son's and JOYA you did not disappoint. The food was delish!!! The paella was excellent!!!

Went here for the 1st time, for a birthday celebration, based on the reviews. Our experience was mixed. We ordered the croquetas appetizer (filled with corn and garbanzo beans - exceptionally good!), the mango & beet salad (the mangos were hard and the rest was just ok - wouldn't order again) and the classic paella, which was overcooked...seafood was tough and chicken was dry.
The waitress said the white sangria was really sweet, so we ordered the red. Not bad, but not great, and not worth $30 for a carafe.
The restaurant is beautiful, with a great ambiance, and the service was excellent.
We moved to the bar after dinner to discover they don't have a full bar, just the cocktails on the menu. However, the waiter went 'next door' to get what we wanted, as it is the same owner, so it was nice that he went out of the way to that, even though we offered to go next door ourselves.
Would only come here for the bar in the future, and maybe the tapas.

The service we experienced at Joya was very disappointing. Our server came to take our order, brought our food once it was ready, and then we never saw him again. Our drinks went dry and no one asked if wanted another; if so, we probably would have ordered more drinks. Our water glasses went empty. I flagged down a busboy to ask for more water. Once we finished eating, I tried several times to get the attention of our server who was flying by us, clearly busy with other tables. Eventually I got his attention to ask for the bill. He dropped it off and said "thank you" and that was it. It was clearly inconvenient for him to continue to have our table on his plate that night. Otherwise, the food was tasty, and Joya has nice atmosphere.

Great experience, would definitely return for another meal. Ordered paella and chicken mole, both of which were well made. The best part, however, was the tapas. Next time, I'll probably just order several of those. I would recommend the bacon-wrapped dates in particular; they were delicious.
