Journey Steakhouse - Argosy Casino Kansas City Ratings and Reviews
The place looked nice and fancy and service was alright not great. Atmosphere was good. The food did not taste as good as I would think from the prices. Steak was plain as was the smashed potatoes. I've had better steaks at cheaper prices. But my fiancé said her king crab legs were awesome.
My girlfriend and I reserved a table for Valentines Day. We started at the bar and Jenny was an awesome bartender. We got seated and Darby was our waitress. She did an amazing job. The food and drinks were fantastic. I can't wait to go back for some more amazing food and service.
It was unfortunate that we arrived early for our table and wasn't acknowledged for 10 minutes. Then had to wait another 40 mins to be sat. Once at the table the poor server was over sat. Wish that the manager or a host would have stopped by. Expected more for a $200 meal. We normally eat here once a month, we will take this off of our list for a while
My husband and I wanted to try The Journey because we frequent Argosy Casino and because Journey offers wood fired steaks. We always order our fillets done medium rare plus (i.e. between medium and medium rare) but were told they could only do medium or medium rare. Therefore the steaks although very tasty were just a bit too well done for our liking since we chose the medium option. Presentation with the huge serving of mashed potatoes on the plate next to the fillet left something to be desired. The au jus ran into the potatoes. It would have been better to have served them in a separate bowl. The spinach/walnut/raspberry salad was a very generous portion and OUTSTANDING. The bread served before dinner had a wonderful taste and nice crust. It was served with delicious honey butter. Our server was attentive and pleasant. We like Patricia a lot. She responded to our every request in a timely manner and made sure to check on us at the appropriate time. I noted noise level as quiet, but we were in the restaurant before 5PM, so that may change when the restaurant gets busier.
The Crab Bisque was fantastic but my rare filet was overcooked. Service was just ok, nothing outstanding like I expected for the price of the food. I could hear the table next to us very unhappy about their steaks being overcooked also. The host stand needs some work also, they seemed very short handed and not very friendly welcome. The place has potential but needs some help.
My boyfriend and I went there for our anniversary and we were not impressed. We had great service but the food was way under our expectations considering how much we are paying for our meal. His 8oz filet was more to well done then medium which is how he order it & my lobster tail was way over cooked. Not sure if we will go back.
I'll start with the positive, the filet mignon here is amazing! But be careful which side you choose, I got a baked potato as did my friend and both of ours were undercooked and cold.
The crab legs were TOO buttery (didn't even know that was possible) but my goodness, you could barely tell you were eating crab. We ended up sending the crab back and ordering another filet. My friend ordered it Med-Well and it came out Med-Rare and took THREE tries to get it to come out right... Was still charged full price for the meal. Our waitress was great and understanding, but just thought it was odd we were never spoken to by a manager for these mistakes, or even offered a discount.
Overall, I doubt I'll go here again. Even if the filet was great.
Service was lacking, French onion soup disappointing, sweet potato was cold and water went empty several times. Wanted dessert but didn't want to waste more time dealing with 2nd hand service. We felt like an after thought. We even got tired of waiting for her to process our credit card so we gave up and left cash. Disappointing for a place we frequently enjoy.
