Joule is just the best. Period end of sentence.
The food was subpar which I was very surprised about as I’ve frequented this restaurant many times. I was also a bit surprised about the service, it was very hands off and uninspired. I know Covid has hit the restaurant industry hard and We’ve tried to support our favorite restaurants frequently throughout takeout and now that we are vaccinated through dining in house...but it is hard to justify the expense when we aren’t met with good food and good service.
I love going to Joule and go when I feel like having a truly tasty dinner. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. The ambience is relaxing and with the kitchen in view, you can watch the magic happen.
My favorite dishes there are the kalbi burger and the spicy rice cakes. I dearly miss the kaya toast with the spread. I also miss the cauliflower with yogurt and bonito, but the radish works out ok.
I will definitely go again and recommend you go as well.
Without a doubt, Joule is my favorite Seattle restaurant. The food is delicious, the service is friendly and professional, and the vibe is cool but laid back.
This place gets an A for creativity. I don’t think a single dish on the menu is traditional. Everything was new and interesting. One dish was a scallion pancake served with creme fraiche, chili oil, and salmon roe. It was great. Every dish that we had was like this. Super creative and it just worked. If I lived in Seattle, I’d be a regular.
Four of us ordered 90% of the menu, ate about 89% of it (it’s that good!)... and it was 100% delicious. Service thoughtful and quick but not pressured (we were the last to leave). Chicory salad and mackerel my favorites. Rib eye and the rice cakes and pea shoots and tofu were other highlights— but truly everything delicious. The only thing I might skip would be the scallion pancakes but that’s because I’m into big flavors and they are more subdued, but texturally so nice. I’ve been coming here for years. Always amazing and interesting food. You will never be bored by yet another kale Caesar here (duh, it’s Korean fusion!, but you see my point). One of my all-time favorite restaurants.
Post wedding dress shopping and was perfect. I’ve been there a bunch and 2 friends who have not that loved it. I can never pass up a miso black cod, ALWAYS get the tofu “salad” the broccoli and pea greens with almond butter were awesome and my friend who what the burgers said it was insane.
Joule is our go to, for date night, satisfying our rice cake cravings and for showcasing a taste of Seattle to our visitors. We absolutely love the food and drinks. Although I still prefer to sit outdoors during the pandemic, the indoor area feels airy with the design of the building and that they keep the patio doors ajar the entire evening. If you get Brandi as a server- you will never be disappointed by her warmth, menu knowledge and hospitality.
The food and service were absolutely wonderful. We have been here a few times (including twice since the COVID-19 reopening), and we always have a great experience.
We love this place! Wonderful staff. Dietary restriction friendly too.
The food, cocktails, and service were all perfect. Looking forward to a return trip!
I really wanted to like Joile. Having read so much press about it and being intrigued by the nature of the menu I was very excited about dining here. Unfortunately and perhaps it was just my experience that evening but it certainly didn’t meet my expectations.
The starters almost universally lacked seasoning - and the texture of the signature rice cakes was lost on me. Were they intended to be gloppy? It’s a short card, so execution needs to be on point. While the plating was very nice, it couldn’t make up for the other faults IMO.
Perhaps the most challenging part was the service? There were multiple times that a dish was summarily plopped down on the table without care or anything other than a cursory description. In fact with two dishes the server never even stopped? Instead she just dropped the food as she walked by.
I respect what they are doing here and I’m certain that it could just be me or Joule having an off night? But it isn’t a place I would return to.
Joule is probably the best restaurant serving in Seattle at this time. It’s always been our favorite restaurant, but we are appreciating it even more now. The food was excellent and the experience very relaxed and fun. The service was top notch. We ate outside in stormy weather and we were comfortable by the fire pit and with overhead heating.
couldn't hear my dinner companions who were seated across the table because of the high volume of music
staff attentive and efficient and friendly.
Tables well distanced from one another plus all the windows and doors were opened so ventilation was good. It was probably as cold inside as out--although the tables outside had heaters.
We ordered several starters, salads, and sides, which came out whenever they were prepared, which was fine. The kitchen did a great job at getting all four entrees out at the same time.
My husband and I love Joule! We have been helped by the same waitress for every one of our visits, and she could not be kinder. Great service and great food!
I’m obsessed with everything. Sad that the bone marrow isn’t on the reduced menu but we got the fried rice instead and YUM.
Everything was fantastic. Great cocktails, wine and food. I recommend the rice cakes and radishes! You really can’t go wrong with anything you order. And the service is incredible!
Staff was very accommodating, and mindful of space to keep everyone safe. Food was incredible and the space is very open with their outdoor patio. So it felt very comfortable given current circumstances.
We were looking for a creative, foodie friendly place to experience. After seeing this place recommended in several different magazine websites and reading about their interesting take on Korean dishes we decided to go here. We were super happy with that choice! Plus the service was amazing and SO good to know that the owners provide good jobs with 401k's and other benefits. They set a good example.
Felt like we were really rushed. Everything we ordered came out within 20 minutes
Amazing food and drinks !!! We enjoyed dinner for four for a special occasion and ordered a variety of small plates to eat family style.. Everything was delicious and the wait staff recommendations were very helpful. We loved every bite and each cocktail we ordered. The hostess emailed us the day of our reservation to suggest that we wear an extra layer because it’s pretty chilly in the dining room since the patio doors are open for ventilation and safety during Covid. The recommendation was helpful and we really really enjoyed our dinner. The food is outstanding!
Consistently excellent!
Great food, friendly service, we’ll be back soon.
Food is amazing as always and service impeccable. Thank you!
Food is amazing as always. Outdoor dining with nice fire pit for heat. Service was ok- but we didn’t get new silverware after our appetizer and we were not asked if we wanted more drinks after our first order. Amazing and consistent food!
If you are looking for Asian food, this is not the place. I couldn't even call it fusion as it's the other way around. For example, the kalbi burger is a regular burger with kalbi sauce. What's asian about it?
Stellar service and the most unique flavors.
We very much enjoyed our creative and tasty meal at Joule, yum!!!
It would be great if their booth seating was more comfortable. The vertical seat back, and no padding for the bottom, makes sitting less enjoyable than it could be.
Walking in, the person who was to greet us and asked our reservation time/info was not pleasant. I said my name twice and she looked puzzled as if implying we had no reservation even after letting her know the time. Finally, after a 2-3 minute awkward altercation she just walked away and another person helped us and when I showed her the confirmation AND took a look at their schedule I saw my name... this was annoying and off putting to say the least. The waitress apologized which helped but the other person who was wearing a rainbow outfit could’ve been more pleasing or helpful especially in the first 10 seconds of speaking. Food was ok, not as flavorful as I expected and price was a high for the quality I think. The ambiance was probably the best part as we sat next to a fire pit. I wouldn’t rush to come back.
It really is hard to find somewhere that checks ALL the boxes...Joule does that and then some! Brandi is truly the most amazing host/concierge/educator imaginable. Just let her pick from the menu AND the wine list....you won't be disappointed!
For specifics, the beet pickles, chimichurri shrimp, rice cakes and bavette are to die for!
YUM!
Delicious dinner! We had a great evening and loved the fire pit.
Our server Brandi was amazing !
Our server Brandi was VERY accommodating and gracious
with special requests and questions (aka picky eaters!) especially under trying and chilly COVID circumstances. She was also very knowledgeable about wine. We had a perfect table as requested and a lovely evening by the fire.
Was so very very happy with our meal and experience Friday night. Still thinking about the smoky chicken rolls, the crispy rice cakes, short ribs and the warm fire pit. Rainy outside, but we were cozy on the porch. Loved it.
Best restaurant in seattle. The service is awesome.
This restaurant is fantastic. The server recognized us from last time we were there which was nice. The food is very well prepared and the plating is also well executed. The joule box, which is a dessert they have is probably the best dessert I've ever had.
We loved eating here! Brandi was so nice and gave us recommendations to eat a fully vegan meal! The tables were far apart and it felt very covid-safe to eat there. We will come back!
I love this restaurant! Always amazing, delicious food. I love the atmosphere too
Everything was top notch and just the experience my two girlfriends and I were looking for. Every menu item was different, but went so well together, and our wine glasses were never empty. Great service and sublime food. Looking forward to going back!
The food at Joule is exceptional - every single dish. The portions are quite small for the price, but the quality is without a doubt very high.
Went for my husband's birthday. Food and service were both perfect as always!
