Steakhouse
Joule, the first restaurant from celebrated husband and wife cooking team Rachel Yang and Seif Chirchi, is re-located in October, 2012 to the innovative, newly developed the Fremont Collective in Seattle’s Wallingford/Fremont neighborhood. From its original opening in 2007, Joule has cultivated a loyal dining fan base and captured the attention of an admiring local and national media captivated by the couple’s unique, modern perspective on Korean cuisine. Joule, the mature sibling to Yang and Chirchi’s restaurant, Revel, highlights Korea’s love of beef featuring unconventional cuts accompanied by distinctive and shareable side dishes.

Joule takes reservations for 2 hour time slots. We do our best to accommodate as many guests as we can so we ask to please be considerate of other diners at the end of your meal. If you feel that your party will require more time please let us know in the notes and we will get back to you as soon as possible with our available accommodations.

We had literally not been to a restaurant since March 2020. It was such a pleasant and delicious experience having dinner out at Joule. They followed all covid protocols and have the perfect space for it since they leave the front huge portion open so a light breeze was there inside the whole time. Food was tasty and unique as always. 5 big stars.

Another exceptional experience at Joule! Date night with my wife was made extra special with a combination of warm, personal service and food and cocktails that really overwhelmed our tastes and senses with goodness! Some of the best and unexpected cocktails we've ever had (just roll down the list). Spring rolls combined the freshness of beans and mint with expertly grilled beef. All the meats are no- brainers - delicious, perfectly prepared and flavor surprises! Don't skip the Joule box for dessert!

Joule doesn't disappoint! The food is top-notch. My boyfriend and I dine out a lot and enjoy a wide variety of cuisines - some of which we try to dissect and recreate. Joule's subtle Korean flavor profile is so delicious and high quality and nuanced we could never come close, making it well worth the event to dine in at Joule. We especially loved the scallion pancake and the salmon this trip.

The heirloom tomato salad was delicious! The roasted cauliflower wedge was great, but it should definitely be shared because it was huge! I felt safe since all the servers were wearing masks, and the tables were spaced out. We sat outdoors.

I made a reservation for my husband's birthday, when we arrived, the table they wanted us to sit at was in the sun outside and my husband has medical issues with being exposed to too much heat. I asked for a 4 top that was in the shade and we were told that we couldn't sit there because it was for a reservation, they seated us at a deuce that was up against a bush. 10 minutes later a 2 top came in without a reservation and was seated at the table we had requested, when I confronted the host I was given the same BS excuse about it being reserved for a 4 top that never materialized, it seemed that these folks knew the chef. This is not how you treat people blowing $140 at your restaurant for a birthday celebration with a reservation and a medical condition, when I complained their response back was condescending and non apologetic for their obvious discrimination, basically "sorry we didn't meet your expectations." Don't waste your money or time here, this establishment doesn't know the first thing about customer service or how to forge long term relationships with their potential clientele. In the 25 years I have been in this industry I have never been treated so shabbily by any restaurant in the city of Seattle. The person I feel the worst for is my husband, this was his birthday dinner and this is how he was treated. Shame on you Joule!

“That” short rib steak just wasn’t nearly what we were expecting. We didn’t finish the roasted cauliflower wedge. The tapioca with bruleed grapefruit was outstanding (as usual, probably my all time favorite dessert) and my “Smitten “ cocktail was fabulous. I hope the disappointments were just a fluke. I’ve had astonishing meals there and have been particularly impressed by their vegetable selections. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I constantly recommend it to those asking for suggestions.

So good to return to Joule after months of restaurant closures. They are doing a great job of keeping things sanitary and safe, all servers wearing masks and gloves and taking care to keep the tables far apart.

Food was incredible as always, and service was excellent especially with the reduced number of patrons. Highly recommend.

Holy Mackerel!

Our first time dining out since the start of the pandemic. Staff was wonderful and good was excellent! The mackerel in particular was amazing.

I would suggest that management encourage staff to be more aggressive with patrons and masks. We repeatedly saw other patrons walking around the restaurant with masks off, including a fairly lengthy discussion regarding a bill at the host station.

I empathize with the staff wanting to be cordial, but it is in everyone's best long term interest to enable staff to remind patrons to don their masks when not at their dining table.

We went for brunch and it was great! The dishes were super interesting and tasty, not your regular eggs and bacon brunch. The menu set up is excellent, where you get to choose one main from a menu and included is a tasty buffet as well. I also appreciated that they had a special menu that listed if each dish was GF, V, Veg, Nut free, etc.

Had a 3 hour dinner with friends on a weeknight. The small plates we had were mostly great (smoked tofu the surprising stand-out.) We also enjoyed the rice cakes, & eggplant. Don’t recommend the rib eye -an awful, inedible cut of meat. So tough we could barely cut or chew it.

Food took a longer time than it should have 40 mins until first appetizers came out. Table next to us received a ton of attention as they were waited on very heavily with drinks, appetizers, water, etc. Felt neglected since we were VIP-type guests.

This was our first time visiting Joule on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Seattle. Put this at the top of your food list, it is a taste sensation and blew our minds!! We had the Rice cakes (a must), they were so amazingly good we ended up ordering a second batch, one with the chorizo, another without chorizo and subbed it with mushrooms. If you have food sensitivities or preferences than what’s on their menu, they are more than happy to offer suggestions on how to modify. They even have a separate menu that lists what is gf,df, v, nut free, shellfish free. We also had the Shrimp Cocktail, Yellow Curried Beets (amazing), Potato Kimchee Lumpia (amazing), Radicchio Salad (fabulous) Chinese Broccoli, Kalbi Burger, Steelhead and the Ribeye. Sounds like a ton of food but they’re considered small plates and designed to share. They definitely didn’t feel that small and there was plenty to share with all 6 of us. We ordered desert which I didn’t try but everyone else really enjoyed it.
This place is in our top ten of places we’ve been to, which is saying a lot. Don’t second guess it, just go! You will not be disappointed.

Everything we enjoyed was exceptionally prepared and innovative, from the beets to the potato lumpia (table could've eaten several plates of that alone) which were very tasty and light we moved on to the staple spicy rice cakes (incredible bursts of flavor and not what you think of when you read rice cake - pleasantly surprised), the steak (all preps provide perfectly cooked, tender meat with flavor combos that truly rock your taste buds), steelhead that was so tender and delicate, desserts that surpassed the mark (Joule box was my favorite) and finally the drinks which were different and fantastic! Highly recommend this place, especially with friends so you can share more dishes! Service was spot on - knowledgeable, friendly and attentive - thanks Alan!
