   We had a memorable birthday meal! Mushroom bisque, shrimp etouffee, and 2 desserts. Everything was lovely and our server was so helpful. The porch was breezy and comfortable.

   We had a delightful dinner. We enjoyed very much the Char fish and the wonderful bread with olive and cheese the cheesecake dessert was delicious, light, and very tasty! The service was excellent as always and the evening there was wonderful!

    Beautiful historic house. Seated us for our table as soon as we walked in. Wonderful service, very accommodating to special requests. No issues. Loved the menu and wine selection.

    We were just here for dinner, not to stay in the inn. Very confusing parking situation, had to go around the block several times before we figured out where we were allowed to park. The food was excellent, but it felt a little like it was slightly underperforming the show it was trying to put on, if that makes sense? Everything (pork belly, oysters, scallops, risotto) would have been extremely impressive for an even very slightly less ostentatious environment, but it didn't feel like it was quite earning its tiny fancy plates and posh menu descriptions. Also, the bar service was weirdly slow: I didn't get the drink I intended to have with my entree until I was done eating my entree, and ended up mournfully sipping it while I contemplated (and decided against) dessert, when I probably would otherwise have ordered dessert and a corresponding third drink. I didn't ask for anything weird, just cocktails right off the menu, and the place was not busy, the waitress seemed confused too, I don't know what was up.

    Food was absolutely delicious. Service excellent, our food took a while so they gave us free drinks! Love the Joshua Wilton, it’s our Valentine’s Day tradition. Would prefer less pop music, jazz or classical would be preferable given the ambiance. Only critique!

    We have had better food and experience there (it was ok, but not outstanding). Price was too high for what we got. However, the worse was the noise, which of course wasn’t the fault of the restaurant. There was a big table with 3-4 old couples who were unbearable loud. This was a romantic night (Valentine’s Day), and we all were squeezed. My husband and I couldn’t talk to each other because of the noisy table. It was so unbearable that after the appetizer we asked the waitress to box everything and left quickly. Also, for a small restaurant and reduced menu, it took forever for the food to arrive (hours). So, this was a weekday. We were exhausted after a long day of work, and needed to wake up early the day after. We consider this restaurant the best in town and even the country. It wasn’t the case this time, which was disappointing. We may take a while for our next visit now.

    Beautiful, quaint, exquisite, cocktails, beautifully, prepared entrées. I highly recommend the Joshua Wilton house the next time you are in downtown Harrisonburg. I guarantee you will not be disappointed, the scallops were to die for, the fillet was cooked to perfection the appetizers and desserts were spot on.

    My husband & I drive to South Carolina twice a year and always look forward to our stay at the Josh Wilton House on our drive down from Rhode Island. We love the accommodations at JWH, but especially enjoy dining here .... beautiful & delicious food, outstanding service and an overall experience that we highly recommend you add to your bucket list of things to not miss! Enjoy!

    Wow, this restaurant exceeded all expectations! My husband and I are still talking about how great it was the day after eating there. We were traveling from Delaware for our anniversary getaway and stumbled upon this gem! The atmosphere is romantic and cozy with an old school charm. Ben, our server, was extremely personable and knowledgeable regarding the cuisine. He treats his profession with the respect it deserves. The food was a gastronomic success!! I’m already dreaming of the wild mushroom bisque and the mussels!! Even the prices are quite reasonable for such a fine dining experience. So— there it is! Kudos to the chef!! Can't wait to go back. 20 stars!!! 🥰

    The experience was wonderful, but, the overhead lighting was too bright. Some of the entree portions were too small, especially the butternut squash risotto. The featured cocktail was fabulous!
