This is our favorite place in Harrisonburg, and out dinner did not disappoint! We love coming to the Joshua Wilton House and look forward to visiting on our next trip!
A not to miss!! In addition to staying at the Joshua Wilton House (JWH), we enjoyed a fantastic dinner! There are not a lot of restaurants that have duck on the menu, and it was perfectly prepared. Both the menu and the wine list provided great options; don't miss the dessert choices! My review would not be complete without thanking the wonderful staff. Kat, Summer, and the team of folks at JWH will make your experience memorable. Definitely make sure you ask Summer about her latest or seasonal cocktail that she is featuring. You will not be disappointed!
My girlfriends and I were celebrating a birthday and we're so grateful to have enjoyed a glorious dining experience at Joshua Wilton House. The food and atmosphere were really top-notch. I enjoyed the scallops over risotto and the beet salad - both excellent choices. The others raved about the yummy french onion soup. My server was the beautiful Gabrielle and she was perfect and very attentive. I did feel that the kitchen was extremely slow with food prep, but I tried not to hold it against them because of the pandemic and the strange times we are all living in. Would definitely go back when returning to the area.
Our server was awesome and the food was fantastic! We will be back.
We had a very nice anniversary dinner. Would recommend.
Great restaurant with wonderful service and very good food at a good value.
This is a must whenever you’re in town.
It was a very special dining experience for us. Nice outside table, great food
and good service. We will be back.
Great meal as always. Unfortunately, due to COVID, they have had to reduce their
menu, but what they had was still very good.
When we arrived, our table was ready for us. It was in a beautiful bay window. Jake and Evan did an excellent job of serving us. The food was just excellent. Beautiful way to spend our 49th anniversary. Coincidence that another couple was celebrating their 49th anniversary also.
We were traveling and staying in Harrisonburg for the night. I looked online and the reviews were most helpful. The service was excellent and our food was most delicious! We would definitely eat here again.
Celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary and was impressed by the staff, ambience and delicious food. We both had the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection.
My husband and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary at the Joshua Wilton house. We each had the mussels as an appetizer. They were over steamed and the broth was salty. My husband ordered the fried flounder which was salty and heavily battered. I ordered the filet mignon which was cooked and seasoned perfectly . It was paired with roasted potatoes which were delicious however the tomato zucchini medley it was paired with was not to my liking . Our server was friendly but the service was very slow. I expected more from a “fine dining “ establishment.
The restaurant recently transitioned from fine dining to bistro style. This resulted in a menu that is fairly unremarkable and found at many other places. There is nothing seemingly local or regional about the cuisine or ingredients. Drinks were inventive but not all that well executed. Staff is kind and enthusiastic, outdoor seating is pretty.
This is a delightful restaurant. The food, the wait staff, and the ambiance are all wonderful.
The adjustment and care taken to meet COVID-19 regulations for dining outside were evident. The staff was conscientious, careful, and also so happy that people had returned to dine out. Diners wore masks to their table and if they had to use facilities inside. Staff wore masks, and gloves and changed the gloves regularly. It was lovely outside and the food was delicious. It was a great way to resume eating out for us! Toward the end of our meal, the owner came out and thanked people for coming.
Excellent food with exceptional service.
We love the new bistro menu and are so happy you are open again for outdoor dining! The pan seared scallop risotto, lobster roll (CT style), frisee salad, truffle fries, Prince Edward Island mussels and steak frites were excellent! The wine, beer and cocktail menu offer wonderful options and the chocolate mousse is definitely worth every calorie. Everything was delicious and we can't wait to come back!
This was a curbside pickup meal resulting from the need to close the restaurant to seated dining. So much of this survey is irrelevant. But my wife and I had reservations for tonight to celebrate our anniversary and we wanted to support a fine local establishment in these unique and trying times. We’re looking forward to an in-house dining experience when normal times return.
Wonderful, memorable dinner.......tasting menu with wine pairings.
Joshua Wilton House was very understanding about our decision to use the take-out option given the situation with the Coronavirus. The food was excellent, as well as the curbside delivery. We look forward to dining there again some day soon!
We were in town for vacation, staying at a nearby resort. Joshua Wilton House was excellent! Worth a visit for sure.
Fantastic as always! We are never disappointed when we eat at the Joshua Wilton House, the food, beverages and service are consistent and top notch!
Food was good, but very small portions. Atmosphere was for doctors, lawyers and college professors, not ordinary people. Have gotten better service at several local restaurants that didn't cost nearly as much
Always a perfect exowrience. The food, the service the amboance...the best in central zvirginia.
Amazing experience as always! The service was excellent, the menu was great during Taste of Downtown, and the food was delicious!
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Very classy. Excellent service. If you want a fine dining experience then this is the place. Finest restaurant in town.
Great food and place. We eat here when we are passing through this area.
This is our third visit in the last 6 months and each meal has been innovative, well-prepared, and delicious. The wine pairing for Restaurant Week was very successful. The decor feels staid, but there is a great art exhibition project in place. Lastly, the service is excellent. JWH has hit its stride again and it is the best restaurant in town. Please stop in and bring a friend!
Beautiful place with excellent food and service. It is high end and expensive as Harrisonburg restaurants go, but it is well worth it for a special occasion or just to treat yourself. We’ve always enjoyed the Joshua Wilton House.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Joshua Wilton, first time time there. Splendid time overall. Planning on returning for another meal.
Food was delicious and fresh. Pastries were excellent. Presentation was great. Service was right on the money.
The food was fantastic! The service was fantastic! Will be back soon
Very nice atmosphere and good service. There is no corkage if you also buy a bottle of their own wine.
Great food, beautiful place. Occasionally service can be slow in the bar but definitely a favorite place.
Always a delight to dine at the Joshua Wilton House. It never disappoints. Food and beverages were delicious and the service was outstanding. We will return again soon!
We had a delicious date night dinner with wonderful food and elegant, high class service. We will return often!
Service was nicely paced. Food was absolutely amazing ❤️
