Joshua Wilton House
Excellent service and fantastic meal.
This was a wine dinner, the first we have attended at JWH. As always, the food was wonderful, the wine was good and it was fun to sit and chat with folks we had just met. The chef and manager were able to accommodate my husband's shellfish allergy at the last minute. We'll do this again for sure!
What a wonderful restaurant to have dinner.
Everything was outstanding from start to finish. I would go back next time we are in the area.
It was wonderful as always.
.We have been coming for the past few years and have recommended to several friends as well. Our fav date night spot for sure :)
Lovely outdoor courtyard. Partner had mushroom soup and filet - both excellent. I had red pear carpaccio - dressing made it. I also had scallops - properly seared. Server was efficient and personable.
Wonderful brunch as always!!! I highly recommend the bees knees drink!
Excellent dinner out. We always enjoy the intimate cocktail lounge before dinner, and the food was delicious! We also always enjoy the the casually elegant ambience
Absolutely stunning. Probably among the best dinners I have ever had... and I travel the world constantly. Fabulous wait staff and clairvoyant sommelier. Impeccable presentation.
What a lovely treasure of a spot. My husband and I were delighted to eat out on the porch. The cocktails the wine and the food was so outstanding. We were so happy to have found this place.
Best restaurant in Harrisonburg. Well worth trying
JWH is a very lovely place to go for a special occasion, or even on a regular basis if you're well heeled. We hadn't been for a long time, but everything ... food, service, wine, ambience .... was really perfect. Even lucked into (with our server's recommendation) an incredible Old Vine Zin for a very reasonable price ($32. as I recall). So we joined their wine club, which means we'll be going more often. YAY!
Noise level and music selection not appropriate for "fine dining"!!!
Cozy Victorian setting /background music did not match this atmosphere
We tried the pastry basket in which there was a nice assortment that included a biscuit, herb biscuit and other delicious items..
The Eggs Benedict was delicious with the right amount of Hollandaise sauce according to my spouse. I tried the sausage links with the goat cheese infused vege quiche and small salad that was tasty (not necessary to order the sausage). One guest tasted the French Toast that he very much enjoyed
Our table was ready for us upon arrival. All of the staff were most friendly and courteous. The decor and ambiance were most pleasant. The food was excellent. The service was attentive, but not rushed. We had a nice, leisurely, celebratory meal.
Always a wonderful dinner in a beautiful setting! Look forward to our return.
Our second visit to Joshua Wilton house was just as great as our first visit. Excellent service and food along with a beautiful environment. This made for an excellent dining experience.
Limited menu but food was excellent. Good service. Have been there before several times had 3 courses. Steak tartare. Gnocchi and filet mignon. And dessert creme brûlée berry dish.
We came to the Joshua Wilton House to celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary. All three courses were superb. Our server, Mary, was very well informed about the menu and daily specials. She is both friendly and professional and made our dinner very enjoyable on a special occasion.
Just fabulous as always!
Bartender was great , very nice & attentive .
Disappointed right away that you were out of the rack of lamb... Was looking forward to it. Will try again but felt overall a little underwhelmed ?
We’ve been enjoying this gem for years. It’s even the venue where my parents rehearsal dinner was! Totally spectacular and always unique!
Great food, great service. The date night menu is the best kept secret in Harrisonburg. The front room is too quiet. Everyone can hear each other's conversation.
Always a pleasure to dine here. Excellent food and servers, plus it was very peaceful.
A very nice experience.
Food was nicely prepared and service spot on. Not far from a 5 star rating.
This is a charming place for dinner. My two companions' main dishes were excellent; my salmon was so-so. My principal complaint is that for a restaurant this high-scale, they should have citronella candles or some other method of deterring the mosquitoes for outside diners. They provided us with bug spray but it was far too late and we were not the only table of diners being attacked by mosquitoes.
It was our first opportunity to enjoy the Joshua Wilton House. Everything about it, made this a special evening. We look forward to coming back on our next visit to Harrisonburg.
Such a romantic evening. Lights could’ve been turned down to increase the ambiance and set a more romanic tone but otherwise it was awesome!!
This restaurant is one of the best meals I have ever had. Classic and creative for both the culinary options and cocktails. A great experience for a nice evening out or special occasion.
My stay at Joshua Wilton was superb, as usual!
I've stayed there at least 4 times previously.
Special attractions: the beds are very comfy, and the dinner
was truly a gourmet treat!
We celebrated our 42 wedding anniversary. Wonderful food and service will defiantly return.
This always a winner. If you’re looking for fine dining in Harrisonburg, look no further. Great food, great companion, nice wine list, as well as Jake and Bill. What more could you ask for on a Saturday night?
Great food in a wonderful setting. A very nice wine list and great service made our dinner wonderful. Highly recommend.
Best dining experience of the year including Hilton Head Island, SC, and Jekyll Island, GA. Thank you.
Our new #1 restaurant in Harrisonburg! Excellent service, great food and enjoyable atmosphere in garden area. Wished us Happy Anniversary in chocolate script on our dessert plate. Nice touch!! We’ll be back and a hearty recommendation for anyone looking for a quality dining experience.
Wife and I went out for our Anniversary. Best Old Fashion I every had. Food and service OUTSTANDING. The only small missed detail dining room could use some high and low cleaning.
The atmosphere, food and service are flawless at Joshua Wilton. Lovely location for an enjoyable meal.
My wife and I came here as part of a weekend getaway and we loved it. The food was fantastic, the staff was wonderful, and there is a nice lounge and bar to have a drink or two before or after dinner, if you like. We'll definitely be returning.
A perfect dining experience! We chose the mid-week “date night” menu which included an appetizer, entree and shared desert. With a bottle of wine, the bill was $100 for first class service and food with wonderful ambiance. We will return!
As to our Date Night Tuesday (Anniversary), the best parts were the beginning and the end. In the English club cozy bar we had Sidecars, the best at least since Harry’s Bar in Paris. Our bartender was knowledgeable and charming. We shared a dessert—Crème Brulée—again, as good as any iteration we have had in a long time and we were pleased the sugar had been torched to candy glass.
As to dinner, I had the (so hard to find on this side of the pond) Steak Tartare for an appetizer and Duck Breast for the entree, while my husband opted for the PEI Mussels followed by Sea Scallops. It was all quite good, but his may have been a somewhat better choice given that the beef and the duck were both, in and of themselves, a little blander than I would have liked. The presentation of all the food was excellent. We also shared a bottle a Sauvignon Blanc, which we thought a good value, but I wish we had gone with the Prosecco.
The food was outstanding;. I enjoyed the special cucumber gazpacho that was the best and so refreshing for a summer evening as a starter. Service was excellent and we felt welcomed into a celebratory and intimate space. Look forward to the next time I can celebrate a special evening there.
