We all enjoyed our meals and it was so nice of the owner to come around and introduce himself to us. Can't wait to go back!
The prime rib was cooked perfectly and it was a great value. Waitress was very professional and friendly. The owner came out and spoke to us, which was a pleasant surprise. Celebrated my mom's 82nd birthday and she was happy. The Sinatra era music they played out a smile on her face. Thank you
Great food and service. Friendly staff. My husband and I left knowing we will be coming here often.
Restaurant week Lunch: Outstanding beef- so tender
Food was good; however our waitress was busy and it showed in our service
My husband and I decided to try Joseph's restaurant during restaurant week since we had heard such good things about it, and we were not disappointed. I ordered the short ribs with risotto based on the manager's recommendation, and it was an excellent recommendation! The meat was so flavorful, tender, and delicious, I loved every bite! The glass of red wine that our waitress recommended was terrific and complemented my meal perfectly. My husband ordered the sliced steak with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes which he thoroughly enjoyed as well. We experienced a fabulous evening out, and we are already talking about going back again for another luscious dinner.
The food was excellent, the service outstanding, the meals price moderately . The steaks are out of this world and worth every penny.
Been here several times and always had a good dinner. This most recent visit the filet mignon, prime rib, and shrimp appetizer were great. Some of the mussels tasted raw although they were open and warm, however they dissolved into the shell? The overall experience was very good as always.
My husband had the pasta fajoli and enjoyed it, I had the polenta with honey shrimp it was excellent. My husband had the rib eye steak and it arrive exactly how he likes it, quite rare.
I had a stead sliced with shrimp and a béarnaise sauce it was topped with two asparagus. It also had string beans and mashed potatoes. We loved the restaurant just wished it was closer to our house. For dessert they offered you more than was listed on the menu, we opted for the black forest cake and I had the lemon raspberry cake. Both were excellent. We got to see items that were not included in restaurant week and were served in little cast iron caldrons. Such a cute idea.
We had an amazing time for dinner on a Monday night. Steaks were amazing. The owner took a interest in our party and made sure everything was just right. Amazing food and drinks. Will definitely be back.
We visited Joseph's Steakhouse minimum three times within the past year and the reason I come go back is because the food is absolutely fantastic. The staff is friendly, the ambiance is good and I love the Frank Sinatra music on the back ground. My favorite dish there is the Mac n Cheese Lobster or Broccoli Fritters, Honey Shrimp over Polenta, Pan Seared Salmon Topped with Capers & Roasted Peppers.
a blast from the pass . the place décor looks back from the 80s , very local place . price a bit high for what you get . but there really isn't any steak house for these people to go . so I guess that's why people still go .
Wasn't sure how to get to the front of the restaurant. We walked through the bar and the layout is odd. The owner sat us and was confused because our table had been given to someone else although we were on time. Our water glass was dirty and we had to wait for someone to come and take care of us.
Once that happened, our food was excellent and our waiter was a great asset. The place is very small but the ambiance is nice. It is very pricey so I would save it for a special occasion.
Fantastic food, Awesome service, Great vibe, and an ambient acoustic setting that allows for conversation!
I wanted to take my wife somewhere new for Valentine's Day, and reviews here pointe me to Joseph's Steakhouse; I was not disappointed. Parking was a bit dicey due to the recent snowfalls but there was more than enough across the street that provided easy access to the entrance.
We were seated a few minutes after arrival. Service wasn't the fastest, but was suitable for us since we had nothing else planned and were not in a hurry. My wife's meal consisted of a iceberg wedge salad, slice steak and shrimp Oscar, and a chocolate tartufo which were all delicious, according to her. I started with the mac and cheese lobster fritter, slice sirloin steak bordelaise, and the peanut butter explosion dessert, which was one of the combinations available on their $29.95 February special. My entree was delightful- very flavorful and thoroughly enjoyable. Throw in two sodas and a coffee, tax, and tip, and the total of $102.45 compares favorably with similar meals at the steakhouses in NYC. Definitely a nice go-to place a little off the beaten path (Route 9G instead of the main route 9).
The food here, especially the steak of course, is excellent. We had a new waitress who was obviously getting used to things, but the service was very friendly and warm overall. A real authentic cozy steakhouse atmosphere, with Sinatra singing softly in the background, Sinatra memorabilia on the walls, and tables far enough apart to permit both conversation and conviviality. We were celebrating a birthday, and I would recommend this restaurant for similar special occasions. We had a great meal and a lovely time!
Excellent for this geographic area
Yhelocstion is easy to get to
Wait staff are friendly and professional
The steaks are top shelf
Seafood very good as well as desserts and wines
This is my third visit and we will return
Steaks and ambience outstanding... great experience as always!
Joseph's was a lovely dining experience. Our waitress was attentive and but did not hover over us. The steak was outstanding. Did not love the creamed spinach but the mashed potatoes completely made up for it!! It was a great meal for celebrating and we would most definitely come back.
We enjoyed our dinner and time there. Very nice experience.
My husband and I went for lunch during Restaurant Week as we had never been. The butternut squash soup was outstanding! I also enjoyed my prime rib French dip (melted in my mouth) and the accompanying French fries were terrific -- crunchy and just the right amount of salt. My husband was a bit disappointed in his prime rib Philly cheesesteak -- it was dry and overpowered by the green and red pepper in it. His fries were also quite salty so he shared mine. We had the caramel apple crisp which was delicious, but could have used more apples. Overall, I was happy with my meal, but he wasn't too satisfied. The atmosphere is nice, quiet at lunch so we could talk easily. The owner was very gracious and welcoming. Wonderful Frank Sinatra music played throughout lunch -- a plus for me as I am a big fan.
Excellent food, very good service (Barbara), we are planning to go back, thank you.
Get together with friends not seen in sometime. Great quiet atmosphere. Decent wines.
Food was good.
Had simultaneous 40 person banquet. Not enough wait staff is my guess as we had to go looking for our waiter to order. Didn't get better throughout the experience.
May be willing to give second chance, but will probably call ahead to check banquet hall status.
Tried Joseph's Steakhouse for the first time during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. It was an excellent choice!
Joseph's was a great meal as usual. It was fairly crowded. But during restaraunt week it's to be expected.
At first we were hesitant due to some reviews here but it was fabulous and our server Beth was a doll.. There was another woman assisting but I didn't get her name.. Excellent, we will be back.
We've lived in the Hyde Park area for 5 years but had never eaten a meal at Joseph's. I took the opportunity of Restaurant Week to try this restaurant. The atmosphere is a bit stale, but service was prompt and friendly. The food was just not very good. The salad had too much dressing, the short rib was tough and dry, and the apple crisp was not crisp. There are so many good restaurants in the Hudson Valley - Joseph's needs to do some catching up.
My wife and I spend a weekend each autumn in the Hudson River Valley, staying in either Rhinebeck or Poughkeepsie. Found this place last year and revisited this year. Still excellent steak house. We like it because it is very casual and not pretentious, has excellent steaks, etc., very knowledgeable and friendly wait staff and overall good food. It is not cheap, although they do have sandwiches and less expensive options other than the steaks, but for the money, and compared to bigger city steak houses, it is good value. Nice relaxed dining rooms, tables spread out and quiet for good conversation, a decent wine list and bar. Will keep coming back.
Dinner was an OK experience. One waitress for all the tables and she didn't seem organized. Long waits for everything. We went there for the special advertised in a local magazine. Wasn't mentioned on any menu and took a bit to get the price squared away. Not worth the effort.
Service was bad. Waiter staff didn't know who had our table. Got served the wrong steak in one instance, miscooked in a second. Took 2 hours for 3 people with only one appetizer and no desert. Steak once corrected was pretty good.
My husband and I went to Joseph's for our anniversary dinner. It was outstanding! Our waitress was very friendly and very prompt! We had the Prime Rib with twice baked potatoes and creamed spinach. The food was delicious! After dinner we were offered coffee and dessert. Very nice atmosphere as well! I would definitely recommend Joseph's to anyone and everyone!!
I had read all the reviews and looked forward to going to Joseph's. Joseph took us to our table but was very short and not friendly as others have suggested. The waiter was nice in the beginning but we had to ask for bread and then there was over an hour wait between our salads and the main course. There was no explanation for the delay. I heard several table complaining about the wait. I guess we were there on a bad night, but I cannot recommend this restaurant.
Solid place. Truly a steakhouse with all sorts of cuts and options though still a few fish on menu. Many events like dinner theater if you are into that type of thing. I would not say disappointing, but have to admit we were hoping for more. We will give it a try as we really liked the feel of the place inside including friendly owner.
We had a lovely dinner here. We ate in the Sinatra room which was removed from the bar & main dining room enhancing our dining experience. Our waiter was a very personable one man show, eager to make our dining experience a pleasant one. serving as bartender & waiter. At the end of our meal he politely asked if he could bring us a complimentary dessert . (I had noted on our reservation that it was our anniversary.) He brought us a decadent chocolate peanut butter dessert which was a delightful end to a great evening.
This restaurant has outstanding beef. All the food is SUPER and the people at the restaurant are very friendly.
My husband and I ate at Joseph's while traveling in the area on an anniversary trip. The food was amazing and Joseph, the owner went out of his way to ensure that we had an excellent dining experience. The bread is served hot and is incredibly good, but try not to fill up on that, you need to save room for your meal. My husband started with excellent escargot and we both upgraded to a chopped salad, which has walnuts, cranberries, olives, tomatoes, blue cheese with an apple cider vinaigrette. I had prime rib and my husband had a thick T-bone that was cooked perfectly. There are tons of wonderful a la carte steakhouse type side dishes. Joseph sat with us for a bit and recounted how the restaurant was owned by Eleanor Roosevelt at one time. We highly recommend this restaurant for it's food and hospitality.
Unfortunately it took 40 minutes to get our drinks and even place our order. That set the tone of our experience. The food was average. The bread was good as were the homemade chips.
Joseph's is a NYC style Steakhouse with NYC prices but not NYC quality. We were seated immediately but waited 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order. The restaurant was not very busy. When our waiter arrived he took our entire order including drinks. Throughout our meal he was almost at a slow jog and would drop food off and contniue on. Not the type of service you expect at those prices. Wifes filet minion was very good. My ribeye was tasty but fatty. Our twice baked patatos were extremely dry and tasteless. Honestly, we have had better overall meals and service at Texas Roadhouse.
Food cooked to perfection.
Great food. Very friendly staff. The owner, Joseph, makes you feel like part of his family. We were visiting Hyde Park to see the historical sites. Only spent the weekend there but would definitely go back to Joseph's if we were in the area.
