Josephine's Italian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Reservation made through Open Table asked if it was a Special Occasion and I indicated YES, it was a birthday. This was not at all acknowledged.
Bread was dry and tasteless. Sauces on the food were overpowering in taste. Food tasted as if it had been left-over and reheated. Price Fixed dinner which included dessert offered a choice of apple, pumpkin or keylime pie, obviously left over from Thanksgiving, three days prior to this dinner.
Being from out of town, we went there based on reviews from the web and the fact that we like typical italien places. It was thanksgiving day. They had a special turkey menu, with only 1 option for pasta, a lasagna that was offered as an appetizer. the 5 of us were a bit depressed, wondering if we shouldn't leave, on our quest for pasta. The waiter shows up, they are out of lasagna...NOT going well. I mentionned to the waiter that we were all looking to eat pastas, and he replies; What do you want, we will make whatever you want!! Our dinner was saved. One of us had the turkey special, delicious he said, and 4 of us ordered some pastas. All was good. There was a great singer, Alexandra, she was awesome. (We usually never like singers in a restaurant) She told us she is there every Wednesday evening, we will be back on a Wednesday for sure.
The restaurant is nice and quaint friendly bar area. I was impressed with singer Frank he sang great Italian music .The atmosphere is very romantic with a white tablecloth’s . The service was exceptional the food was magnificent.
I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
The food, service and ambience of Josephine's was excellent. The recorded and live music on the evening of October 27th was excruciatingly loud. After our desserts, we wanted to linger awhile, but ended up having to shout at each other to be heard. The live musician on nOctober 27th was much too loud and ruined the ambience of the restaurant for us. I also suggest to soften the recorded big band music as well.
It was not crowded since this is August in Florida. Our waiter Andy was the best. Our food was delicious and exactly as ordered. The evening entertainment was also enjoyable. We have been here many times and will continue to make it one of our favorite local restaurants.
The restaurant is always a good value
We had an early reservation so the restaurant was quiet
The waiter took our drink order and our dinner order
As we were finishing our appetizers the dinner was served
That didn't give us time between courses
Then the music which is great started and was so loud we couldn't hear each other speak
The music was live by the way but better for after dinner
But we had good food and a good time
2nd Time here and , while the food was very good last time, it was even better this time. I know it's been around for awhile but it will not dissappoint! My Mom loves this place and we took her when my daughter was in town. We were a party of 4 each time and everyone loved the food. The Breaded Veal Chop, the Eggplant parmigiana, Veal Scallopini and not sure of the 4th dish but everyone was very happy.
We will be back:)
While Josephine's has usually been our go-to choice to take friends, this time we were overly disappointed. The food was mediocre at best and the service quality way less. ( the waiter never even came over to ask how our meals were. If he had, I would have returned my duck as it was way too well done and totally tasteless. I have always ordered the duck special in the past. )
While our friends enjoyed their meals, we did not!! We will probably wait quite a while before returning, if we ever do.
We have eaten at this restaurant several times. I do not plan to go back. The room is very dark. If you go, be sure to bring a flashlight. Our waiter brought our appetizers so quickly that we hadn't finished our cocktails yet. Entrees were served quickly too. The portions were sizable. The desserts - chocolate mouse or cannoli, were dumped in front of us soon after. A definite feeling of being rushed. The food was bland and underseasoned. Dessert portions were small and not house-made. The salad was not chilled, the lettuce leaves were not well trimmed. The prosecco was not quite cold enough. There was a singer who was well received by the other diners, a mostly older crowd. The $35 menu was okay since there was entertainment.
The round table for 8 is 2 smaller round tables pushed together to form an uncomfortable mishmash with someone having to straddle 2 tables.
