I wanted to give my better three quarters a great dinner for her birthday...and that's exactly what we both had this week at this fine and well-run restaurant. Mr. Tambellini readily took my call so that I knew things would be just as I wished. As I wanted something not always on the menu, perfectly fresh ingredients were obtained (important with seafood, in particular).
Our evening will be forever memorable as the food was absolutely exquisite, the service was excellent; the icing on the cake is that it was also a great value.
Based on my many visits this year, you can't go wrong.
Adam was a great server. He was helpful with wine recommendations and special diet requests and was always there when we needed something.
I’d been looking for great Italian in the area, and definitely found it here at Joe and Melissa’s place .
My dinner was outstanding with only the highest quality lump crab meat and fish. No cutting corners, but a bit pricey. I definitely got the fabulous dinner and experience that I paid for though.
In my estimation Joseph Tambellini is the best restaurant in Pittsburgh.
The food was spectacular and our waiter Joe was wonderful. The kitchen accommodated our requests. This is our must-visit restaurant whenever we’re in Pittsburgh.
Excellent. The food is always perfect and has a great presentation. Missy is always bubbly and talks to all her guests. A truly warm and memorable experience.
The specials are very good but a little pricey. Service is always outstanding.
Joseph Tambellini is the best Italian chief in Pittsburgh. We love to go there and decide what we want to eat on the menu, not like what can we eat on the menu.
This restaurant's food and service is consistantly excellent . It should be on your list of places to go often.
I didnt get what I ordered. The chef decided to change my entre. The appetizers were very good.
Didnt have time for them to make another Steak which costs $53. Most of it was left on my plate
One of my favorite restaurants for a special evening. The mushroom ravioli and shrimp was outstanding!
Super fresh and homemade pasta is glorious
Have gone to this restaurant o numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. Along with the great food they have really good appetizers as well.
Fabulous. The quality is excellent. Meatballs like you’ve never tasted. Melt in your mouth. Lovely evening on the patio with tasty, excellent food. The best Italian restaurant in pittsburgh! Missy and joe will welcome you into their intimate, relaxing restaurant.
My experience at Tambellini's Restaurant celebrating my birthday was amazing. The atmosphere was wonderful. Our waiter was very kind, pleasant and not bad on the eyes 😊 he was very professional.
The food was to die for, it was delicious and the 🍸drinks were fantastic! The topper for my husband and I was the dessert. It waa the beat dessert that I have eaten anywhere!! I cant remember the namw of it, but it was warm pound cake w ice cream, whipped cream. Superb!! It was just an amazing evening and the perfect place to celebtate my birthday.
Excellent service and excellent. Great for a celebration!
Really excellent meal and service last Friday night. My only concern is the noise level, which can't be avoided in this small restaurant. We will return and I do recommend it to my friends.
We had a reservation for a Tuesday night at 6:00 PM. The restaurant was not at all busy, (didn't stay that way for long) which was good as we had an opportunity to chat with the owner. He was sure to let us know if we wanted something to make our dining experience more enjoyable to just ask. (It was not necessary, but always nice to be offered)
The food and the service was top notch and we are already planning on dining here again.
Never disappointing! Specials are always interesting. Great food prepared well. Our server was delightful and everything was paced nicely. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening
We enjoyed another great dinner at Joseph Tambellini. The special of pistachio crusted flounder was excellent and my husband enjoyed the Mafalda Giancarlo with artichokes and spinach. Joe continues to offer dinner with a side of pasta and a delicious baby field greens salad, which is a real plus. It is always fun to have an after dinner drink at the bar and talk with other patrons and with Missy. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh!
We will be back! Excellent food and service!
Joseph Tambellini’s is “without a doubt” our special occasion “go to” restaurant. We thoroughly enjoy our dinners there.
We went to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Tambellini’s is a hidden gem of Highland Park. The food was excellent and the service was great. Joe himself came around to say hello and wished my wife happy birthday. It’s our favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh.
I've taken guests there four times in the last few months...need I say more ? OK...it's simply great !
This place never disappoints, always a great experience.
it was a Birthday for two people. The food was very good and service was excellent. Will go back again with friends
It was outstanding. From being seated, appetizers, entrees and post meal espresso everything was excellent.
My only regret is that Joe was on vacation and I couldn’t express my happiness in person.
Everything about this restaurant outstanding. My wife and I enjoy coming here for our anniversary every year.
The food was good but nothing that I would go out of my way to go back for especially for the price. I also did not realize there was a $35 corkage fee which in my opinion is quite high and slightly ridiculous. We only brought our own wine as there was no wine or drink menu on the website and reviews stated it was BYOW. The only beverages I saw on line were uninviting local macro brews. The atmosphere was very stuffy and awkward. This was obvious from our entry greeting in which we were simply asked "Who are you?" and not greeted politely. This came off in a manner that made us feel like we shouldn't be there. Our server made us feel like she was rushing us and was not personable. Again we felt very unwelcome. We certainly did not deserve this treatment (of course no one does). My g/f and I are in our thirties and are professional adults and courteous restaurant goers in many cities so we aren't sure why we were treated poorly other than their staff's pretentious attitudes.
A very nice, comfortable place. The service was wonderful, the food was delicious. I had a veal chop prepared with peppers and cheese and my wife had scallops over homemade cheese tortellini . We both enjoyed our dishes and had no complaints. Nice wine list with multiple selections within price ranges. Our server was excellent, there when you needed him and did not hover over the table. He made the evening very enjoyable. We ended with excellent cannoli and coffee. The atmosphere was very nice and comfortable and they did offer a small outdoor seating area if you desire,
The food was amazing, and the waitress was very kind and helpful.
As always.... amazing food and service. Pasta dishes are the best in Pittsburgh with plenty of left overs to take home and enjoy the next day.
One of Pittsburgh's Culinary gems, Highly recommended.
My wife and I were celebrating our 15th anniversary and we were hoping to have a special event. Unfortunately the food was average at best , the service was less than average. We were made to feel that since we were not regular patrons, we were not welcome.
Food was SUPERB, service from Joe was outstanding !!!
As usual very good overall. For a white table cloth restaurant this one is hard to beat
Unfortunately, the manager came over to my table at dessert time (while I was entertaining 2 guests) & was extremely insulting to me when I had told my good waitress to remove my dessert since I didn't care for it. This will be the final time I go to the previously preferred restaurant.
Great service. They even had soft shells on the daily specials, which I was hoping for. Some may think Joe's is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for.
This is our go-to place for celebrations and we were celebrating friends who are engaged to be married. We love this restaurant.
Good high-end old-school Italian in a dignified quiet setting. Classic, gimmick-free Pittsburgh dining w/o the need for a dictionary to read the menu.
