Everything is overpriced. The white pasta sauce wasn't good, it tasted like expired cheese. When they packed up the togo box they throw everything in with no regard for what should and shouldn't be mixed together. The staff seem friendly but that doesn't justify the price.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. My husband felt the wines were overpriced especially the white wines.
It was nice to be dining again at Tambellinis. Their food is always great. Our favorites are the beans and greens, fried zucchini, veal or chicken marsala, many of the pastas, and their daily specials. It was great to see that they had a full house!
High end, nicely prepared gourmet Italian food. Great service. Nice surroundings for a special occasion.
Absolutely loved coming here with my wife for our 12th anniversary. The food was timely, delicious and the co-owner Melissa popped in several times to check in on everyone. Just a lovely time and a great experience overall.
Superb food prepared with attention and care, pleasant ambiance, attentive wait staff, drinks are well made. Overall terrific place to visit for upscale dining experience.
Celebrated our 34th Anniversary there and as always Melissa Tambellini is always so welcome and friendly! Rachel and Michael were a great team as our servers! And as always, the food was tremendous! Great to sit outside on a nice breezy Summer night!
The food was absolutely delicious! The meatball appetizer is a must have. The chicken Romano was to die for. Also the lava cake was outstanding. Overall, delicious, great environment and genuine service.
Food was excellent and Ali, our server, never let our drinks be empty for long. Chicken Parm was one of the best we’ve had (top 3), and the desserts were top notch. We ordered four and all pleased our crowd. We’ll definitely be back.
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here. Service was top-notch. Everyone that I interacted with was attentive, courteous, and thoughtful. Most importantly, the food was delicious. I ate the halibut with scallops. I didn't know scallops could taste so good.
Unquestionably the best Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh.
Food and service was exceptional!
Wonderful experience all the way around. The food, wine, service, and ambiance way fantastic. We have had many dinners there and are never disappointed. We have also had them cater dinners and holidays and the food was outstanding.
Fabulous, as always!
It was SO nice to be back at Joe Tambellini's after the pandemic closures. Our dinner was excellent especially the halibut pommodoro. The crowning finish to dinner was the Grand Marnier cannoli! We enjoyed talking with Missy and look forward to going back soon.
wonderful food, wonderful wait staff, wonderful atmosphere!
A perfect dinning experience for us on our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Welcoming staff with a home-like atmosphere. Our server Terry was very familiar and knowledgeable of the menu and graciously attentive. The food was delicious and having the opportunity to personally compliment the chef was a delightful ending to our meal.
It is outstanding in every way. Delicious food. Excellent service and a warm and comfortable setting.
I’m from the south hills and it only took me 30 minutes to get to the restaurant! Easy to find and well worth the travel! Staff was pleasant, upbeat, and accommodating. There are some stairs but manageable. The food and bar items were delicious. Some very special items that you don’t find at other restaurants such as crab balls and unique pasta dishes.
I highly recommend you treat yourself to this special place! You might even meet the owners!
Great night out. Highly recommend
Great food, very nice service
Food was delicious!
Charlotte took great care of us.
Owner took time to come to our table
and ask how everything was.
Consistently excellent and a go to anytime we are in Pittsburgh
Another awesome meal at an outstanding restaurant! Great food, great service and great owners who aim to please all guests.
Their patio is a great place to enjoy an evening. Their menu continues to evolve to feature creative and excellent entrees. We had the Halibut Sardinia - superb!
My husband’s dinner came out horribly overcooked. (He had ordered it medium rare) The server insisted on taking it back to the kitchen, so he agreed. Our server returned with a lightly seared piece of raw meat. An obviously passive aggressive “take this” from the cook. We have easily spent thousands of dollars at this restaurant in the past. Neither the owner or manager came out to apologize for the bad experience that even the server said was unacceptable. Very disappointed. This has been our top choice for a great meal over many other restaurants in the city for a long time.
Everything was beyond amazing from Rachel our waitress to the owners checking in and making sure we were happy with our dinners! Will definitely come back!!!
I was excited to try this restaurant while in town to celebrate the recent wedding of my best friend. We wanted to try an authentic Pittsburgh Italian restaurant and Joseph Tambellini's seemed so perfect -- and we are New Yorkers, so we know a good ristorante when we see one! We knew our reservation would be for only 90 minutes, so we were prepared to be rushed throughout. Unfortunately, it was clear that our waitress did NOT want to serve us. In a restaurant full of older patrons, we are two young women, with one being the only person of color in the whole restaurant (which happens sometimes, fine, but...). Our waitress treated us like we did not belong. She never introduced herself (while other tables were greeted with a cheery, Hi! I'm Charlotte...). She stood, watching our table while whispering to another staffer, clearly making comments about us. We were kind and courteous patrons who ordered a full bottle of wine, appetizer, special plate and pasta meal. We said Thank You every time she brought plates and refilled glasses, and we left a generous tip. As soon as we stood up to leave the table, however, all pretense of kindness left our waitress. She happened to say "Thank you, ladies" as we passed her, and I thought she was giving us a last friendly goodbye (though she must have been speaking to other waitresses) so I said, "Thank you! We were here to celebrate-" and she cut me off in an incredibly rude way. "I am NOT TALKING to YOU." Emphasis on YOU as though she was disgusted to have to interact with a black person. Her tone was resentful, angry, vitriolic. She could have just said nothing. It left me in tears after what was supposed to be a nice evening. We wanted to support a local business but were left with a bad taste in our mouths (and not just from the bread, which was awful). If you aren't an old, rich, white person... you may feel more welcome at another restaurant.
I know it was Father’s Day and you guys were busy but my husband couldn’t eat his lasagna because it was so salty.
This is a classic Pittsburgh fine dining Italian restaurant, with near perfect execution. The broad menu offers something for everyone. The wine list is particularly attractive, with excellent variety and fair prices. It’s a little loud when full and not the most convenient location, but those are minor issues.
Very good “old school” Italian food. The waitress was well informed and willing to describe the dishes and was not afraid to offer her opinion. Menu is small, but what they do, they do it right!
The food was superb. It’s clear Tambellinis brings people back as regulars for a warm, familiar and family atmosphere. We had a lovely evening.
It was fabulous as usual. A great place to go for consistantly great food and atmosphere.
Our service is beyond compare.
Great food and service is the best. Everyone is very friendly. My favorite restaurant.
Excellent food, great service. A very memorable night.
First time there. It’s a more pricey place for a reason. Food was outstanding and the specials in particular. Service was very good too
Very professional staff. Our waiter was very personable and knowledgeable. Relaxing atmosphere. Nice flower touches.
We always try the fried zucchini at every place we go. Tambellinis is by far the best we have ever found. Both of our meals were amazing. The service was excellent. So good!
