Went for a special occasion with family, had a great time. The steaks and porkchops were simply amazing. We were given a tour of the restaurant by the owner himself, who was most gracious in doing so. We truly enjoy this place and hope to visit again soon.
This was our first visit and it definitely will not be our last! Everything was wonderful!
Very nice! Delicious food!
We saw a highlight of Joseph Decuis on the Travel Channel and since we’re from Indy we thought - we have to go. Everything was amazing. We had the charcuterie board as an appetizer and wagyu for our meal. The wine list is also exceptional. Everything was perfectly prepared and a really great value considering the quality of the meal. We will be back!
The service was outstanding! We had the wagyu steak and it was out of this world. The amazing taste was worth the price, just had a smaller portion then we imagined for the cost. Got a tour of the whole place and they went in depth with the menu to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. Highly recommend to anyone.
We got to the restaurant before they opened and asked if we could wait inside. The owner greeted us and we were seated right away. Everyone was very friendly, the food was fantastic, service was great, I have nothing negative to say. Can’t wait to go back.
The food was amazing and very quite romantic atmosphere. It was the best meat we have ever had.
First time. Food was amazing. We were a little bummed when we got there and ordered the full blooded cuts of wagyu steak that we read about on the menu, one skirt and one strip. Then 15 minutes later the waitress came by and said there were no more strip steaks, so we said both of us wanted the skirt steaks. Then 15 minutes later she came by again and said there were no more skirt steaks now either. So we were a little bummed and confused why we had to wait so long to hear that but we got the 75/25 % ones and they were great! Overall nice place!
Had heard of Joseph DeCuis for years, finally decided to celebrate our 51st wedding anniversary there. Very relaxed atmosphere. We were there on a Wednesday at 6pm, so not many others there when we arrived. As a result, we were able to sit wherever we wanted (we opted for the very light and airy greenhouse area next to a window overlooking a garden). Superior service by everyone. Great food. Started with Gumbo Ya Ya for me, tomato and peach salad for my wife. Wagyu ribeye entrée for me, halibut for my wife. Excellent job of wine pairing by the sommelier, who managed to find a red that worked with both steak and fish. Dessert was a unique peach pie for my wife, while I had the chocolate bourbon pecan cake, with decaf for both of us. Great unrushed evening (approximately 2 hours). Not cheap, so definitely for special occasions for us. Perhaps the greatest restaurant experience we've ever had.
Excellent dinner. Much of the food served at the restaurant is grown on their farm or in the case of the protein is raised on their farm. The featured beef is either 100% or 75% Wagyu. The food was very well presented. The vegetables tasted as if they had just been harvested and the were. This restaurant is one of the original and best farm to table experiences. The wine list is very comprehensive.
I moved to Fort Wayne from Chicago 6 months ago. One thing I miss is Chicago's quality dining scene, so, I was thrilled with our experience at Joseph Decuis! Prior to eating, we received a tour of the farm by the owner of the restaurant and farm itself. This elevated our experience -- to see how the cattle was raised and learn about the operation in general. To top it off, our food was stellar. To say that it's the best piece of meat I've ever had is an understatement and I don't know how to do it justice. For anyone who lives remotely close or in the area, this is a must, at least once. We will be going back for special occasions and to expose other family members to this place!
Everything was delicious! Wagyu dumplings, beets, ribeye, pork chop and peach pie...we loved it.
They brought out homemade bread with a Wagyu Beef Fat Candle which you dipped your bread into the melted fat & was it amazing! We then had the Charcuterie & Artisanal Cheese Board which was delicious. For the main course we both ordered a Wagyu Beef Steak & it was hands down the best steak I’ve ever eaten. The steak melted in my mouth. It was served with potatoes & farm fresh vegetables. We sat in the Conservatory & really enjoyed the atmosphere. The only thing that threw me a little, was I ordered a glass of Cab Sav & it came chilled. When I asked the waitress about it, she said they served all their red wines chilled, that is how the owners liked their reds. Not a complaint, just interesting. I would highly recommend Joseph Decuis. Before we left, we were talking about when our next visit would be.
The atmosphere was great! Cool artwork throughout. The staff was very helpful in explaining options for dinner. The food was outstanding! Our waitress went above and beyond to give us a tour of the restaurant after we had finished our meal. We will go back again for sure!
The food as always was very good. I look forward to the next time.
My wife and I had eaten there a couple of times before this one and really enjoyed the wait staff and the attention to detail they gave to the quality and presentation of the food. This time, we had multiple servers so had no idea who was actually supposed to be taking care of us. They brought the wrong appetizers to my wife and tried to give me the wrong drink. She ordered the pork chop but it was 95% fat and bone and she may have gotten 2 or three bites. We brought this up to the waiter and he said it was because the type of pig they raise has more fat the normal. Certainly the chef would have noticed this before preparing it and should have chosen a different cut. Her desert was falling apart on the plate and the presentation was extremely poor. Part of her desert included popcorn but it was burnt. Did anyone check it before sending it out?
Hopefully this was just an off night for them but certainly was not worth the money this time and certainly not on par with our previous experiences.
The service is always good and the food always tastes great. We just feel it is over priced and portions are small.
The service was excellent. Very friendly staff. Dinners were well prepared. The Wagyu Stroganoff was not something I would get again....very chewy pasta. Salads were excellent along with the deserts. Overall a very nice experience.
They have several different areas to choose from that are very different. The hostess gave us a tour of all of them Bar, dinning, conservatory and outside. We chose outside with lots of plants and a large fountain. They could use a gardener to tidy of the plants and patio, but it was very relaxing. Service and food was great. After dinner our waiter offered to take our picture by the fountain and also in the wine vault. We walked for a bit after dinner in downtown Roanoke (very cute).
This is certainly a wonderful place for a special occasion. The steaks were everything we had hoped they would be. I loved the personalized birthday wish printed on my menu. The only thing I would change is the cheese plate offered at dessert should be different types of cheese than the appetizer. We didn't realize that until we got it. Otherwise we would not have ordered it a second time as a dessert.
Overall very well worth the money spent and all the food was top notch. The service was impeccable! I hope to visit here again soon.
Atmosphere, service, food and presentation were all A+!
Looking forward to a return visit!
One of the best meals and experiences. The staff were equally amazing.
My 4th or 5th time here and was the best meal here yet. Simply perfect. From the service to the foodone of my top 5 meals...ever. You will not be disappointed! Wagyu fat candle?!?! No morels this time, but that didn't stop this meal from being the best one here yet. Can't wait to return.
We enjoyed sitting by the kitchen and talking to the staff. We enjoyed watching them prepare the meals with great care and skill. I liked the many flavors in the dishes I ordered because I like adventure and creativity with the meal. If you are a plain meat and potatoes person and enjoy chain restaurants, this may not be your cup of tea.
We had heard a lot of chatter about Joseph Decius, so our expectations were high.
Those expectations were surpassed. The service was exemplary, striking the right balance between attentiveness and privacy.
We enjoyed a “wedge “ salad (romaine, not iceberg) accompanied by Wagyu bacon, micro sprouts and egg crumble. It was excellent.
The Wagyu beef was a unique experience- melt in your mouth tender, flavorful. The accompanying vegetables were more than an ornamentation- cooked perfectly, creatively assembled.
Small but superbly curated wine list.
We’ll be back.
Overpriced food for what you get. Everything was tasty but very small portions and not worth the price tag. They also did not informed us of prices for some of the items (meat, specials) ahead of time or the info was not on the menu which was ridiculous. The waitress had to go ask someone else about the price of the steaks... We payed about $40 for mushrooms because we didn’t want to be those people asking about the price of every single dish. It’s a nice experience but we won’t be coming back.
Thank you for the personal touch of the 50th anniversary printed on the top of the menu.
We enjoyed the experience, Wagu was wonderful and deserts were fantastic. Great wine list and recommend trying a mixed concoction from the list.
Excellent. Like no other dining experience. The service was friendly and warm. The food was outstanding. We had the chef's cut of beef and it was like nothing I have ever tasted. Usually don't order steak when dining out but this was tender and flavorful. Portion sizes were just right. Not the usual huge servings. Sides complimented the meat. yes it was pricy but worth every penny
Prepare for a memorable dining experience!! Bring your credit card (or maybe two), but you will leave savoring each bite you took of the wonderfully prepared meal.
Food was authentic and so delicious! Service was excellent! This place is great for a date night or celebrating a special occasion!
Another amazing meal! I look forward to eating at Joseph Decuis every time I'm in the area.
The service was terrible. Food was just ok. The library is a beautiful space. Definitely seen better days at this restaurant.
Had a wonderful time. The staff was great and really friendly. Fine dining but not stuffy.
I have longed to dine here for years and have attempted to before, but had to cancel due to bad weather. So, I was delighted to find the Spring luncheon event had reservations available. I went with a friend and was largely underwhelmed. Soup course was wonderful, but it was about three ounces. Salad course was OK, if they are getting winter greens locally I could understand them being a bit coarse and bitter. The main course -- chicken croquettes with bowtie pasta left a lot to be desired. The chicken was so gamey tasting -- wondered if there was some type of organ meat mixed in (menu didn't state that.) I'm a fairly adventuresome eater, but I left 3/4 of it. If it had been a knock-my-socks-off meal, I would've felt OK about paying the expensive price, but frankly they mailed it in and I left feeling cheated. Would not return.
We celebrated our anniversary at Joseph Decuis. We had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious!
Great service, expensive food. Would go again, for special occasions only. Beautiful atmosphere.
We were disappointed with our overall experience. The menu is very limited if you do not want steak. The steak my husband ordered was good but not worth $70 that he paid. I had sea bass with bone marrow and quite frankly it was all bad. The fish was not at all like sea bass I have had in the past. Also had the crab avocado salad to start and the flavor was very overpowered by the picked vegetables in it. We won’t be back.
