We took advantage of the nice weather and fined outside - just outstanding😎
Great meal and service. One of our favorites.
Food was very good! Service was great and server was very attentive.
What happened? We were at Joseph Ambler this past Monday and had a fabulous lunch! That is what we are used to and why we are dining club members. However, today dinner was sub-par. We opted for the three course special. We both ordered bibb lettuce salad (very good), ribs that we supposed to come with finger potatoes and slaw. No slaw (carrots and string beans) which were cold. The worst part was the ribs were cold.
Should we have sent our entrees back? We never do anymore because if you read what happens to returned items in the kitchen you really don't want to do that. We told our waitress who apologized.
Dessert was part of our dinner. Banana cream cheesecake was excellent. The chocolate trio, especially the white chocolate cake, tasted like it was recently taken out of the freezer.
Nothing was done to right our very unpleasant dinner. Wonder if the waitress even believed us?
Delicious dinner and great service. Can’t wait to go back.
Generally, we've always enjoyed this restaurant for very good ambiance, good food and good service. We had my mother's 80th birthday party here with 60 people and it was lovely. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the brunch on Easter Sunday. There was no "sit down" menu option for our elderly mothers who were on walkers. The brunch ended at 2:00 and our reservation was at 1:30. We tried to get earlier reservations and add a seat for my brother, but were told they were full. There were many empty tables when we arrived. The food was mediocre at best. No poached eggs; just the standard omelet station and overdone scramble. The Caesar salad bowl was completely empty. Tough prime rib. The selections were nothing special and the price was $40.00 plus tax and tip. A mimosa was $8.00 extra. Deserts were an afterthought. Plenty of wait staff hanging around "waiting" to clear the table and turn the restaurant over for dinner. I had to ask for my plate to be cleared 3 times. I might consider dining here again, but never for a holiday brunch.
Joseph Ambler is a cozy place to dine. I went for Easter Brunch I thought the selection was limited for the price paid.
Easter buffet. Very nice, enjoyable. Good food; a little pricey.
Service was outstanding as was the food. I had steamed mussels as an appetizer, main course of branzino with risotto and banana cream cheesecake for dessert. Excellent!
We haven't been here in years. They've modernized their menu & drink list & added some items that absorb/block sound so it's not as loud as it used to be. Food was good. Service friendly & professional. Ambience good. Overall we enjoyed it & would be happy to come back.
Entree was wonderful, dessert was great last night, just okay tonight. Pears not soft enough.
Food was ok wife’s steak over cooked. Choc trio for desert was awful
The food is always excellent and we love the ambiance.
The bar area was very cozy and sleek. I had dinner in the dining room and the food was outstanding. Rolls were hot and served with whipped butter. I really liked the small plates and local fare, it's basically a smaller portion then a regular entree's. Menu selections are minimal, but fitting for any palette. The food came out piping hot, we ordered a cheese tray for an appetizer, the cheese was delicious with a large portion, and was served with honey, nuts and fruit. A definite winner for a small plate or appetizer. Overall, it was an amazing dinner, great food, service and ambiance. I would highly recommend it for any affair casual or not. Very nice dining experience.
Nice place to have our anniversary dinner, and as a result dessert was on the house complete with “Happy Anniversary “ beautifully written in chocolate on our dessert plates! (Thank you!). When it comes to the menu I’m not as adventurous as some...but we both thought our selections were delicious. Our server and support staff were plenty busy yet still took very good care of us throughout the meal. I imagine a fair amount of the patrons were guests at the inn but we are fortunate to live in the area and enjoy celebrating special occasions there. Same time next year :)
For special occasions my husband and I like to go back to where we got married
We were greeted with an historic, country atmosphere that had a fun ambience going for it. The staff we met were friendly and courteous and they seated us right on time. The menu was extensive with plenty of choices we liked. The seating was ample and lighting was bright enough to read the menu, but dim enough to set a romantic mood. Our appetizers were delivered promptly and they kept our water glasses filled without being a bother. I had a perfectly glazed Filet Mignon and my wife enjoyed a Teriyaki Salmon dish with Basmati rice that she had no problem devouring. The portions were large enough that we didn't have room for dessert. Overall we had a great time and will plan to return again very soon.
We loved the place as soon as we walked in. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The food was VERY good
Good Food- but beware those with cat allergies.
Enjoyed the food and service. The rabbit legs were a great different entree. Not a fan of the basement setting, but ok.
My biggest complaint was presence of cat dander. There are a couple of cats on the premises. As someone with sensitive cat allergies, the restaurant and the common areas of the Inn could have used better vacuuming (thankfully the rooms were pretty free of cat dander).
Lovely experience weekend before Valentine's Day. Started with a drink in the pub, and the dinner at the restaurant. The historic tavern provides a cozy ambiance. Delicious homemade breads, very nice wine list. Interesting choices - duck, rabbit, veal, as well as seafood and beef. Husband loved the duck confit. I had a delicious scallop dish with pureed corn and quinoa. Baked pear and ice cream for dessert!
Fantastic my 4th Time here and they never disappoint . It was a great time and will definitely go again!
As usual everything was excellent. One recommendation would be to have more options on “seasonal menu”, specials for the week, month, etc.
Everything was excellent I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff was so attentive to all our needs.
Great atmosphere and great service. Food was done very well!
My husband and I received a gift certificate for Christmas. We had a excellent meal, live piano music, all around enjoyable, relaxing, super romantic evening. I look forward to doing it again!
This was the next stop on our tour of PA Inns. My wife and I enjoy eating at various Inns in eastern PA because we like the feel of dining at a place that has some history associated with it. This was our first time dining here to celebrate my wife’s birthday.
We absolutely loved everything about the experience. The maitre d’Hotel was very friendly and welcomed us like we were regular customers. Our server was attentive and had a pleasant smile.
Our meals were outstanding - Spicy Tuna Roll, Seafood Pappardelle, and Bronzino finished off with the Chocolate Mousse. Everything was seasoned just right.
Although it’s a trek for us to get here, we will definitely return. In fact, we may even book a room at the Inn to get the full experience.
Food was ok. Ordered beef and clams appetizer which was delish. Steak on prefix menu was very good. Salmon, was too sweet and slightly undercooked (mushy/ soft). In the beginning the waitress was not helpful with suggestions and substitutions for food allergy which put us in a guessing game situation, but was very accommodating when we returned the fish.
Drinks were strong, prices were fair and of course the atmosphere is beautiful and romantic.
Good service, food excellent. Very nice inside and noise level not a problem. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would go back.
Do not hesitate to try this wonderful restaurant. Great service, unrushed dining, gourmet experience, excellent bar, beautiful ambience and foodies will love it.
Zack was excellent as always and very helpful. Very personable. Great food.
The menu and food is consistently wonderful. We started with a caesar salad, then NY Strip Steak and Swordfish with nice side dishes and completed it with creme brulee and warm bread pudding. The house specialty drinks were great, but the other mixed drinks left a little to be desired. We have never had a meal that we didn't enjoy here, even at busier times (Valentines day, etc). I am going to go back and check out the Thursday night seafood night - sounds interesting
Met an old friend.. my fish brazzino was disappointing. But everything else including courtesy truffle was wonderful. I could hear the piano player in the dining room and it was lovely!
Another great experience. Great food, service and ambiance. We like the service in the dining room better than the bar area.
Excellent, attentive service. Many different food options from seafood to pasta and steak. We had small room to ourselves which made the occasion even more special. Menu a little pricey so more a special occasion night out but good sized portions. No one went home hungry.
Absolutely great food. Prompt and friendly service. Not at all rushed. Highly recommended.
The food here never disappoints! The Prix Fixe menu is always a wonderful option.
Great way to spend a honeymoon. Room was excellent.
4 of the 6 meals we were not happy with. Pea and crab risotto had no crab in it. Scallops were very salty and filet was cold and sent back. A new piece of meat was given but still not that warm. Kobe burger was good as well as salmon.
JAI was awesome. It was our second time eating here. Everything was amazing. The pre fix option was delicious and affordable. We will definitely be back soon!!!
