Another fabulous dinner at this wonderful Inn. The Crab cake & Salmon were spectacular. The Bourbon Pecan Chocolate Pie was the best I’ve ever had. Denise, our server was so personable & attentive that she made the evening even more enjoyable !
We dined in the dining room and under the current circumstances, the tables and guests could have been spread more out. It was very close.
Our first visit since COVID. A very enjoyable meal with great food and service. They haven't lost a beat. Have always loved this place.
A very busy day for the restaurant but they made us feel as though we were the only ones there! Service was great with the exception of an error on the bill which was quickly resolved. We chose the price fix lunch menu and all our choices were outstanding - prepared perfectly and plated beautifully. We will be returning!
Great server. Good nice. Perfect quiet place for intimate conversation
Server was attentive, food was fair.
great atmosphere/ excellent service . excellent food.
Food was good but our appitizers, salads and bread were all out at the same time and then 3 mins. later the meal - felt very rushed! Fish was great!
Went for our 7 year anniversary and we were blown away with how good everything was. The staff brought out a bottle of champagne and put it in an ice bucket right at our table. The food was out of this world. It was the best steak I’ve ever had. We will absolutely be returning fir dinner and recommending this place to everyone.
Celebrating a recent engagement in the family. Amazing Atmosphere, service, and value. Joseph and Lauren is our go to place for celebrations and they did not disappoint! Highly recommended!
We waited over 1.5 hours for our entrees.
The Joseph Ambler Inn is a fantastic place for dinner with a great wine list, a comfortable bar with fireplace, and an imaginative menu really well prepared. the server for our table was terrific and was there just at the right time every time we needed her. if you like historic Inns in Bucks and Montgomery County PA, this is a great place. the owner has moved several old houses that were due to be knocked down onto the property and converted to rooms and meeting sites.
We're hoping the Joseph Ambler goes back to the 6 ft spacing that they've been maintaining throughout covid. Tables were pretty jammed together. Everything else was wonderful!!
It was a great, well prepared, thoughtful meal. It was obvious the chef didn't just throw the ingredients together. Will be back.
My first visit to JAI and I would definitely go back. Service was a little on the slow side but there was a party going on. I didn’t mind as we were catching up with friends and it was nice to have the time. The food was better than average and look forward to a repeat visit.
Meals were excellent! Salmon was perfectly cooked. Fish (of fish & chips) was excellent as well. Cod was sweet & flaky. Batter was crispy and not greasy. Only downside was that the restaurant was cold. Server was attentive and friendly. We are looking forward to returning for dinner.
Anniversary dinner. A bit pricy and limited menu due to Covid and staffing restrictions, but great service and food!!
Warm and comfortable atmosphere
Took forever to get greeted by server, felt we were treated as lessers due to our young age. food was good not Great. Won’t be back anytime soon
The duet filet mignon is out of this world. My friend had a dual salad which she enjoyed very much.
We had a wonderful dinner outside. Very relaxing abs food was delicious.
Went to Joseph Ambler Inn in September and had a delicious dinner and very romantic ambiance. Went last night with another couple and I was mortified. There was a wedding there that was very loud and they made us feel uncomfortable, like we were crashing their wedding. They would not turn the heat lamps on, even though we were freezing, and I asked several different people. Why would you have all those heat lamps, and not use them? Bizarre. The food was great, but the service was slow.
Overall we had a lovely dinner with terrific service! However, we were disappointed that they would not put the heaters on outside, so it was a bit cold. There was no explanation as well.
Water and wine glasses were dirty looking. Watched the hostess remove extra unused glasses from the table with her fingers in some of them. Do they get washed or just put on a shelf to use later at another place setting?
Everything about our anniversary dinner was superb. We especially enjoyed talking with our waitress, Victoria. She was very sweet and helpful.
was not thrilled about we got served last when we were the first ones in room. when asked waitress she said one of the servers took our appetizers. we got our appetizers when the couple next to us were halfway through their entree. Also, my husband ordered 4 diet coke’s and they charged for each one. not real happy about that. the chilean sea bass was delish, butter risotto was over salted
Denise the server was wonderful!
Quaint, country atmosphere in the stone building and beautiful grounds. Food is excellent, everything that we have ordered was extraordinary! This is our go to for special events, but perfect anytime you want a fabulous dinner out!
Perhaps because it was obviously a very busy evening, with one or more special events (e.g., a wedding) being hosted, was not only crowded but also reception/seating appeared unusually slow, and created a feeling of, at a minimum, being overloaded and distracted. In fairness, every member of staff was pleasant and friendly.
Summary: service was horrendous but food was excellent. Made a reservation and had to find a place on the grass to park where I would not be triple parked in. Seated at a too small square table that hit my legs (I’m a medium 6’2”). In a room adjacent to a very loud party with a door in between but was only closed by dessert time. Had to ask for a bottle wine list. Appetizer server left the room without knowing our table and had to track them down with help from other diners. Appetizer served without plates or serving utensils. Waited 20 minutes for first drink only to be informed by a different server they were out of that liquor brand as well as our wine selection. Service was saved by Jamie or we may still be waiting to place our entree order. Food was excellent.
The restaurant was beautifully landscaped at the outdoor dining area. The waitress could not have been any more friendlier or professional. The food was excellent and just the right portion sizes. It was an excellent evening with my love.
If you're planning on going to the Joseph Ambler Inn for dinner you should rethink that choice. We were seated after a short wait, the server greeted us and took our drink order. The drinks arrived reasonable quick and the server wanted our meal order before we even had a chance to try our beverages and everything was downhill from there. We rarely saw our server, we even had to ask the bus person for salt and pepper because we couldn't find our server to get his attention. It took 30 minutes to get our bill after we asked for it. All the other tables around us were complaining about not getting service whether it was to order beverages, their meal or getting the check. I went to the front desk, gave our check to the manager, told her of the terrible service and that everyone around us was complaining about the same thing, she was very dismissive, she didn't say a word, only grunted and shrugged her shoulders as if to say "tough"! Joseph Ambler Inn is pricey, the food is only average and the service terrible, not a good combination, we won't be returning anytime soon!
When we arrived, we were led to a table with a fair amount of sun. When we asked about moving to another spot the hostess seemed hesitant at first but then put us in a shaded area. What she didn’t tell us was that his would quickly become the waiting area for wedding guests while pre-ceremony pictures were being taken and we were subjected to guests, photographers, and staff yelling back and forth to each other.
We ordered cocktails, then had some back and forth about the wine list. We then ordered our salads and entrees, the former of which arrived before we were halfway through cocktails. Feeling very rushed, we asked when the waiter returned to slow things down a bit so we could relax and enjoy our meal. At this point, we had already decided not to order a bottle of wine as we felt we wouldn’t be given the chance to enjoy it. This proved to be the right choice, as our entrees came almost immediately after salad plates were cleared. I had still not finished my cocktail, and we had been seated for only 25 minutes.
There was very much a feeling that we were being rushed through to turn the tables and that the wedding was the priority. Regarding the former, it was not a holiday or other special occasion; the patio was only half occupied.
Unfortunately our food was kind of cold. Cold coffee was served as well. Sent the coffee back and a fresh pot was prepared.
Loved the bar and the food!
Fantastic food. The service is great. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Filet was great and wife had the sea bass which was amazing.
