Father’s Day diner. Very nice restaurant. Seated in a small room with several tables; discussions of others were a bit loud. Husband ordered soup, never served (taken off bill). Overall, great food, would return, would recommend.
Well, the waitress took our order and only 4 of the 6 entrees came out. A mistake was made and it took a while for the those two entrees to be made and presented. When I mean a while, two of the four meals were done before the last two meals arrived. We did not cause a scene, but they did not give us those meals for free. They did give us free desert, but that did not equal the price of the two meals. The value and quality will bring us back, but only for a special occasion only and that is only if we cannot get into other places. Sorry, but Joseph Ambler has slipped in our eyes, so if there is a next time, they will need to go 110%.
Loved everything about the JAI. The food, service, ambiance and value were all excellent.
Very good and friendly service. Lovely setting and ambiance. Excellent spot for meeting with friends.
We had a family brunch for Father’s Day. Outdoor seating was great. Atmosphere was picturesque with beautiful weather. Staff members seemed all young and inexperienced. Food tasted average and service was frustrating. Maybe the restaurant was short handed, but our experience was less than desirable.
Beautiful lunch on the patio. The surroundings and view are pastoral. Everyone enjoyed their food and said they would like to go there weekly!
Wonderful dining experience after an endless pandemic!!! Lovely outdoor setting, kind and efficient waitstaff, and excellent food. We would return in a heartbeat!
Beautiful outdoor setting. The hostess thanked up for coming as we arrived. Our server was very attentive, kind and professional. The outdoor seating was the best around. Highly recommend!
Our server Kim was knowledgeable about all items on the menu and very pleasant.
Summer day under the trees, great food & good company. What more could you want?
The meal special that includes an appetizer and dessert for $30 is a good deal. The shrimp cocktail had four large tasty shrimp. The salmon was cooked perfectly and served with delicious carrots and string beans. The choice of desserts was varied and tempting. Service was very leisurely- fine if you were in no hurry as our party was content to sit and talk. The outdoor patio area is very nice and shady, however, they need to treat their carpenter ant issue.
Our server, Molly, was attentive, efficient, and most of all charming. Celebrating with sister. Priceless.
Lovely atmosphere and excellent service
The food it consistently good here, some dishes better than others. The service was excellent but the hostess wasn’t. I’m certain she was having a bad day and was less than kind. We requested outdoor seating which was lovely until grass cutting began. I’m not sure why they would entertain guests outside and allow grass maintenance at the same time. Possibly that is an oversight. Overall our food was good and our lovely waitress, Molly, was exceptionally gracious and helpful. We will return, just not when grass maintenance is scheduled.
Excellent evening on the patio!
Friends were visiting from New York so we wanted to take them somewhere different. The waitstaff were very attentive and someone stopped by to give us a much appreciated history of the property. Food was very good and the outdoor seating was ideal. We definitely plan to return. Unfortunately the restaurant doesn’t serve Sunday brunch.
Wonderful dining experience. Our waitress Tina was friendly and provided great service. The food was delicious! After dinner we walked around outside and enjoyed seeing the beautiful buildings and grounds. We will definitely be making a return visit!
Service was slow.Had to wait a very long time. Had to ask for bread on the table.
Our total experience was relaxing & enjoyable with excellent food & service.
30th birthday celebration and pre JAI wedding reception for my daughter. We love this place and highly recommend.
I had the flatiron pork and it was terrific. My wife had the scallops and, while they were equally as good and delicious, only to serve 3 seemed overpriced.
I had the triple salad very very small portion for 27 dollars. Over salted by the chief. The overhead fans on the patio did not work so the stillness of the day was uncomfortable.
Food was excellent - I had the sea bass, which never disappoints! Our service was excellent too!
Need to change up the menu - only thing new we saw were the crab sliders which were very good.
My birthday bash could not have been finer.
It was noted as a ”Date Night” on our reservation and we were seated right by the service door outside where a table could barely fit in. We even received some comments from the neighboring tables how tight the space was. Throughout the evening, service personnel set their food tables right by our table to serve it from there to the tables.
By not choice, we had to see and smell every dish that was served during the night which made our stomach churn and heads spin at the end including the red bottle of wine that they dropped right by our feet. It spoiled the night for us! We didn't feel like eating anything.
Excellent meal! Great atmosphere.
The weather was beautiful and the ambiance perfect. We enjoyed our meals. With the exemption of the bus boy spilling some of my meal on my white pants it was a perfect evening.
Beautiful setting. We sat outside. There was a wedding going on but it was still relatively why. Service was good and the good was yummy.
We were in the bar area so the noise was a little high. But overall, Joseph Ambler is one of our favorite dining spots. The Chilean Sea Bass was delicious!
We had such a nice time last month when we celebrated my husband's birthday at the Joseph Ambler Inn restaurant, that we returned to celebrate our anniversary. We enjoyed our meals. The staff was attentive and courteous. Thank you.
We've eaten at Joseph Ambler Inn for more than 10 years and have always had a good experience. The food has always been delicious as well. However, something was awry this time. The food was, once again, very delicious (my NY Strip was out of this world), but the service was lacking compared to past visits.
We waited longer to place our orders than usual. I believe there were a lot of diners eating outside. We chose to eat inside because there were thunderstorms expected. We noticed a lot of young folks (perhaps teenagers) providing support to the servers. They appeared to be new given their demeanor and lack of engagement.
The service was overall slow but got really bad after we finished our desserts. We wanted to get out because it became dark outside due to storms in the area. We tried to get the attention of a group of staff (they looked like teenagers) standing around but they didn't respond. After a while, I heard one say, "Table 30 has been waiting for you." So they knew we were looking for our server but they didn't respond to or engage us. Those same staff didn't respond to us leaving as well--like "Goodbye" or "Have a nice day" or something.
We were very disappointed with the service (but the food was great). I think the young staff should have better training (or implement their training) regarding customer service. Engage with the customers. Check on the diners instead of ignoring us like they seemed to have done this time.
There was one other party in the dining area we were seated. We heard the gentlemen comment on the slow service as well.
This was the first time in over 10 years that we had this kind of bad customer service from the staff of Joseph Ambler Inn. However, we still love the place and will go back. Hopefully, the service is back to normal for our next visit.
We enjoyed our lunch for 6 friends at the Joseph Ambler Inn very much. The weather was iffy, so the manager was able to accommodate us indoors rather than outside as I’d requested. We plan to come back again soon!
Our servers Katie and Isabell made our experience outstanding.
As always food was superb and drinks made to perfection, we were by choice seated indoors but except for us the dining room was empty. It was for that reason the service was sketchy since outdoor dining was very busy. Our wait staff was professional and friendly but there were long periods where they were MIA. When there they did an excellent job and handled our needs.
Great food, friendly staff, and nice atmosphere for a chill night out.
Waitress was kind but must have been new... busboy, the same. Food not what I expected or remember from many visits. Steak tough, veggies good. All in all I probably will not go back.
It was our 50th Wedding Anniversary. They gave us a private room that easily accommodated our party of 8. Everyone enjoyed the meal. We were able to have lively conversations without bothering other guests. The service was great the food was very good. Everyone was pleased with our choice of the Joseph Ambler Inn for our dinner celebration.
