Joseph Ambler Inn
Nice atmosphere. We ended up pushing tables together in the pub, and the service was so quick. Food was great!
Great service and food.
We celebrated about wedding anniversary. We had an attentive waitress. Everything was presented beautifully. The service was great. Our meal was delicious. I highly recommend.
Wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary! Eileen was a fantastic server! Had a great time!!
my wife and I celebrated a private 50th Wedding Anniversary dinner at the JAI a few days ago. Although I specified the reason for our visit, this fact was unacknowledged during our dinner. Perhaps a glass of wine or a pat on the head would have been nice.
The food was good, that’s all. Not up to par with what we’ve come to expect from this establishment.
Lovely evening on the patio. Wonderful people! Denise took very good care of us! Steaks were delicious. We will come back next time we are in the area.
Not my best experience there...We were ther to celebrate my mothers 70th. (14 people). Made a reservation requesting a square table setup, which they did, but they didnt even start to set the table until about 15mijs before our reservation time. The restaurant was completely empty. So I was surprised... the food was OK. They changed the menu from our last visit, so the choices for some in our party were limited. Tge service was below standard. Orders we completely mixed up or forgotten altogether. The waitress, mis-entered the qty of one of the dishes and my sister in law didn get her meal until everyone was completely done. It was only a burger. How hard could it be? No rush to it, and no one even offered to make amends. They hardly checked on us. Finally, they were clearing plates when people werent even finished.
To top it off, on of the bus person's dropped a plate while they were clearing and the small ketchup container fell on the floor and splash my mothers clothes... again barely an apology.
Maybe they were too busy with an event they had scheduled to be bothered with regular diners...
Thet are a little pricey, but used to be worth it. I'll probably give them the benefit of the doubt and go back, but next time they better bring their A-game.
Food very good. Would of liked to see more than three scallops for an entree
Loved piano bar
The food and service were excellent! Prices are on the high side so be prepared. That said, I'll keep Joseph Ambler Inn as a special occasion dinner destination. You won't be disappointed.
Great food. Menu had wide range of dishes. Duck wings and beet salad were great light fare. Korean beef salad tender and melted in my mouth. Seafood pasta was wonderful. So surprised to find such great food at little in. Next day catering for wedding reception also excellent.
Yes. It was a very nice experience. We were welcomed to stay as long as we liked, which was great!
Everybody in the group was very happy with my choice
We always have a terrific meal here. We brought our eight year old and they could not have been more accommodating. The food was so good!
Great birthday dinner!
Menu choices are good and the filet I had I enjoyed. Also had the cheese plate which came with four different cheeses and bread. Quite tasty. Since the weather was absolutely beautiful, we ate outside, and it was very nice until the end when some winds began to whip up. Overall, a really nice experience for my friend’s birthday.
This was my first visit to the Joseph Ambler Inn for dinner. Recently, my wife had an enjoyable lunch here and said we should try it for dinner. So, for her birthday, I booked a reservation for a family dinner of six at this restaurant to celebrate. Since her birthday fell on a Sunday, we were able to take advantage of the restaurant’s price fix menu offered on Sundays. The restaurant also offers a BYOB on Sundays (unfortunately I was not aware of the BYOB policy). The restaurant also offered the “birthday girl” a dessert on the house.
Two of the diners selected from the price fix menu that offered a tuna entre. Excellent presentation and cooked (very rare) to perfection. Our vegan guest took advantage of a pasta dish that she thoroughly enjoyed. Three other guests ordered chicken and fish dishes from the regular menu. They also mentioned that their entrees were excellent.
Our server was delightful and cheery with a good sense of humor. We will return!
We tend to go here for special occasions and are rarely disappointed.
We had a delicious meal in Mother’s Day. We were given a private room which we nice but sometimes I think our server forgot about us. Overall a great experience!
I found Joseph Ambler Inn by accident - I waited too long to make a Mother's Day reservation and Open Table listed only a few available reservations in my area when I began my search. Just by luck, I stumbled upon what is now one of my favorite restaurants.
A nice place for Mother's Day dinner. The food and service were good. Wish we had known that it is BYOB on Fridays and Sundays.
As always, the food was outstanding! Everyone in our party of four enjoyed his/her amazing entrees topped off with superb desserts. The cheesecake topped with lemon curd was decadently delicious.
I was somewhat disappointed with our waitress. We had to ask for refills of our iced tea. Even when we did, she did not ascertain how many iced teas were needed and would come back with just one after a fairly long amount of time for this type of drink. This is not compatible the five star service that I have always experienced at the Joseph Ambler Inn where your needs are anticipated.
The food was beyond expectation. Our server was not made aware we were seated and as a result, we had to wait an extended period to be welcomed and when we were, very little was explained to us about the restaurant, etc.
Although the food is good the service is awful. The waitstaff is what you would expect in a diner not a good restaurant. The throw the food and utensils on the table. The waitress was very annoyed by questions. She basically just wanted to know what you were having so she could get away from the table (“what will you have”) . She had a sour puss on her face the entire time like she could be bothered and was more like a nun then a waitress. For this reason I don’t think I would return. The prices are very high and the service leaves you with a very unpleasant experience.
Very happy with our meals, including a perfectly cooked filet and tasty seafood pappardelle. Service, however, was curt to the point of being borderline unfriendly. Server seemed annoyed at any questions and often sort of threw menus at us and walked away. We felt we had perhaps done something to offend her, but hadn't had enough conversation to have done that. We would return for the good food, but at the price your paying, they should be on top of making sure their servers are more courteous.
I had been wanting to visit the Inn for a while and booked it for a 7 person, family Mother's Day dinner (Saturday night}. They completely exceeded our expectations, first by seating us in our own private room in one of the separate buildings on property. It was the perfect ambiance and allowed us to talk and enjoy the evening without any extraneous noise. The service, including the pace of servings, and food were all equally outstanding and I can't say enough about how great the dinner was. I'm already planning to book another meal with them soon.
The service and food were outstanding
Worst food I have had . We have eaten there in the past, and the experience was great. Service was rushed, veal scaloppini I couldn’t eat . It was a frozen paddy. Terrible. I will never go back. It was for my anniversary. Never!!!
We have eaten here several times and always have been very happy with the food and service. Briana was fantastic!
Had dinner here recently with a dear friend. i love old taverns and Inns and have been here several times in the past. the ambiance is great, the service is perfect, and the menu is excellent and imaginative. the staff know just when to come over to the table and when to provide privacy. the property is beautiful and so glad that there are people out there who are restoring, protecting, and using the historical architectural treasures of Bucks and Montgomery County PA
The noise level in the bar prior to dinner was very high and not what we have come to expect from our previous visits. Kevin our server was fantastic!! He has a great attitude and knows how to interact with guests. He allowed us to enjoy our Anniversary dinner at a leisurely pace yet was very attentive. Kudos to Kevin and to management for having someone such as he on staff. Jos. Ambler will always be our special occasion choice for dinner.
It's our favorite romantic restaurant. The food is usually delicious and service, impeccable. However, this past visit, the scallop dish was extremely salty. My husband raved about his filet though.
We would have enjoyed our meal if the service had been halfway decent and if we were placed in a quiet corner. We could not hear our own table speak as the conversation from the next table was so loud.
Our server Maria was almost non-existent. She came to the table after dinner was served before we could even take our first bite. She asked how everything was. Never saw her again except to drop off the bill. Then she never came to take it from us. We finally just left it on the table and left the restaurant. The waiter at the table next to us was awesome.... interaction with his guests was great. Wish we would have had him as our waiter instead. The kids serving us water and clearing our dishes were very attentive too.
3 of our meals were delicious. The short rib meal was very salty. Our wait staff was great and the atmosphere was nice.
Always a wonderful experience. Service is great and the food was great. They make you feel special.
Maybe. Quality of food was average for the prices
Although somewhat pricey we totally enjoyed our dining experience. The service was good and the food was delicious. The historical aspect was also quite interesting. We would go back and will recommend to friends and family.
The three friends that came with me were highly impressed!...all agreed that they would bring their spouses for dinner !!!
We had reservations and were seated immediately when we arrived. Our server was friendly helpful and checked back to see how we were doing. The only complaint we had was the bar was behind in getting drinks out. Once they arrived they were all good. The food was great!! Our table was a bit wobbly but I guess that’s to be expected in an older building.
