Joseph Ambler Inn
Never disappointed with JAI experience.
An excellent fine dining experience at JAI!
Dinner was wonderful -- even the prix fix menu was good
My husband and I got married at Joseph Amber Inn and we love dining there. However our most recent experience was very disappointing. The food was slightly cold, our table was very small and cramped, and the service wasn’t great. We felt extremely rush, almost like our business wasn’t appreciated at all. Very disappointing experience.
This has been one of our favorite restaurants in the area. Service was very slow and the food was Mediocre at best. It seemed the lamb chops over seasoned to the point of not being able to taste the lamb. The duck dumplings were not dumplings but a lot of fried wonton with very little if any duck the sauce also overpowered any taste. . And fried beyond crunch. The best part of the meal was the apple rose for dessert . The service was extremely spotty. I need to think long and hard before I would come back for a special occasion. There was little value for a $ 200 meal. So disappointing
We had Valentines Day dinner at JAI. Food and service were both good, however we were never informed (until we sat down at the table) that it would be an $85 pp fixed price meal! We were both upset by this and felt like we were being taken advantage of, and will definitely not be going back there for any kind of holiday dinner. Most other times we have dined there have been very favorable experiences.
It was ok. Meal was hot. The crepe was cool.
Denise, our server was excellent
Open table should have told us that it was a fixed price menu
Great food. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
Had Valentine Day Luncheon at the Jos Ambler Inn. The food was excellent, cooked to perfection, service was wonderful, and loved the ambiance of the room. Will be going back again, and looking forward to taking family for Easter.
We were here for lunch. the food was good and the service was very nice and accomodating.
I planned a quiet dinner for two with a friend. Great atmosphere in a historical building. Food was typical american cuisine and decent but not great for the price. Noise level became louder as more guests filled the dining room. I would possibly dine here again and avoid busy times when occasion calls for good ambiance.
Six diners tonight and we all chose seafoods: Yuengling battered cod, mixed seafood pappardelle, Bronzino, salmon. All dishes were delicious and portions were perfect. Our only incident was a 12 inch ribbon of printed tape (probably a wrap from a lettuce head) which appeared in the Caesar salad of one diner. You graciously comped the wine, salad and dessert for this person, which was appreciated and appropriate.
We enjoyed the ambience which allowed us to have conversations without raised voices. Also the room was warm enough to be comfortable. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Lovely place. Great ambiance, friendly staff, nice bar/bistro and inviting dining room with superb food. Looking forward to our return visit.
If you enjoy a quiet evening sharing an excellent dinner from an imaginative venue Joseph ambler in is a great place… Ambience is wonderful the old restored in is a beautiful place to share a meal with friends Family or business
Came here for dinner for the first time to celebrate my birthday with husband & parents. Sundays are BYOB so we brought some wine and enjoyed the delicious food here! Quiet atmosphere, good for conversation. Would recommend for any special occasion!
Food was great, service was great. The only thing that was disappointing was I had a reservation and our table was right in the middle of restaurant with a wood post right next to the tale. A lot of activity and servers and customers walking by all night long. Even with that said still had a nice night and good food and service.
Service was very good and food was delicious. Atmosphere was nice they had a piano man playing when you walked in.
Were not greeted very pleasantly and server was not very attentive in addition to incorrect order
We were on the early side of dinner time on a Friday night so we had the luxury of not many people at dinner. Food was very good and the service at both the bar and our table was excellent.
I took my good friend here for lunch for her birthday. We were seated next to a fireplace. The meal was great and so was the service. The Joseph Ambler Inn remains one of our favorite restaurants!
Great food, great service. Our waiter Kevin was great!
Absolutely love it there. The food was great. The room was great and it was a beautiful setting to watch the snow from the front porch!
Great food as usual!!
My husband and I had the Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass. It was WONDERFUL!!
Also, the ambience was very good.
An outstanding dinner!! Our server Denise was great and the food was excellent!!
The restaurant is located in the Joseph Ambler Inn. It was quiet and romantic. The food and service were excellent. We will be back!
Great last minute reservation for New Years Eve- the menu was nice and the service was good.
There was a limited menu on New Year's Eve. I sent my steak back three times and still could not get a medium well cook on it, it was served rare. They did take $40 off the $99 price tag, but considering the limited menu I would have thought they'd be able to cook a steak properly. The vegetables were nothing special. It was not worth the price tag. The ladies room had a sink falling off the wall and bugs in the lights. They need to put a little bit of money back into upkeep. A disappointment considering we were looking forward to a special night.
One of our favorites. Great service, food and atmosphere.
Delicious food. Best sea bass and chocolate cake I have ever had. Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff. The Only negative is limited menu options. Not a lot to chose from.
There were 8 of us, had a round table in the corner of the back room, it wasn't loud, everyone enjoyed there food, had a really nice night, got to bring our own wine, which keeps the cost down
Great food and experience!
Awesome dinner. Food was terrific ambiance is always nice but especially at Christmas. A great place to. Have a special event.
The food here is always excellent, the service is very friendly and the ambiance is terrific. Dining partner has multiple allergies and the server had no problem checking with the chef to be certain none of her allergens were used in the food. Drinks are excellent, generous and honest. Bread is very good. Dining partner had sautéed scallops with herb risotto--scallops were cooked perfectly and were tender and sweet. I had the duck breast with white beans. I forgot to mention that I preferred rare, but it was cooked medium rare and was very tender, juicy and flavorful. We were too full for dessert.
Lovely restaurant in a beautiful location. Food was great and the servers were pleasant, but no one ever explained or apologized for a lunch service that took 3 hours to complete ... and we were the only people in the dining room on a Sunday afternoon.
Food was great. It was loud probably b3cause it was crowded due to the holiday and a party was in the adjoining room. We were seated next to a door that kept opening which was annoying. Our waitress was great.
Had our office Christmas party on Friday night. It could not have been more perfect! Food, service, and ambiance. Definitely will be back!
The Inn is decorated beautifully for the holidays.
Service and food always excellent
We ate here several times during our stay, and all of our meals were spectacular! We absolutely plan to return to the Joseph Ambler Inn for many more meals in the future!
