Everything about our anniversary dinner was superb. We especially enjoyed talking with our waitress, Victoria. She was very sweet and helpful.
was not thrilled about we got served last when we were the first ones in room. when asked waitress she said one of the servers took our appetizers. we got our appetizers when the couple next to us were halfway through their entree. Also, my husband ordered 4 diet coke’s and they charged for each one. not real happy about that. the chilean sea bass was delish, butter risotto was over salted
Denise the server was wonderful!
Quaint, country atmosphere in the stone building and beautiful grounds. Food is excellent, everything that we have ordered was extraordinary! This is our go to for special events, but perfect anytime you want a fabulous dinner out!
Perhaps because it was obviously a very busy evening, with one or more special events (e.g., a wedding) being hosted, was not only crowded but also reception/seating appeared unusually slow, and created a feeling of, at a minimum, being overloaded and distracted. In fairness, every member of staff was pleasant and friendly.
Summary: service was horrendous but food was excellent. Made a reservation and had to find a place on the grass to park where I would not be triple parked in. Seated at a too small square table that hit my legs (I’m a medium 6’2”). In a room adjacent to a very loud party with a door in between but was only closed by dessert time. Had to ask for a bottle wine list. Appetizer server left the room without knowing our table and had to track them down with help from other diners. Appetizer served without plates or serving utensils. Waited 20 minutes for first drink only to be informed by a different server they were out of that liquor brand as well as our wine selection. Service was saved by Jamie or we may still be waiting to place our entree order. Food was excellent.
The restaurant was beautifully landscaped at the outdoor dining area. The waitress could not have been any more friendlier or professional. The food was excellent and just the right portion sizes. It was an excellent evening with my love.
If you're planning on going to the Joseph Ambler Inn for dinner you should rethink that choice. We were seated after a short wait, the server greeted us and took our drink order. The drinks arrived reasonable quick and the server wanted our meal order before we even had a chance to try our beverages and everything was downhill from there. We rarely saw our server, we even had to ask the bus person for salt and pepper because we couldn't find our server to get his attention. It took 30 minutes to get our bill after we asked for it. All the other tables around us were complaining about not getting service whether it was to order beverages, their meal or getting the check. I went to the front desk, gave our check to the manager, told her of the terrible service and that everyone around us was complaining about the same thing, she was very dismissive, she didn't say a word, only grunted and shrugged her shoulders as if to say "tough"! Joseph Ambler Inn is pricey, the food is only average and the service terrible, not a good combination, we won't be returning anytime soon!
Unfortunately our food was kind of cold. Cold coffee was served as well. Sent the coffee back and a fresh pot was prepared.
Loved the bar and the food!
Fantastic food. The service is great. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Filet was great and wife had the sea bass which was amazing.
What a great evening. Delicious food, good service and I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Quaint restaurant with delicious food. The food was a bit overpriced but we had great service.
Lovely atmosphere at night on the patio. Great food.
Everything was perfect for our wedding anniversary
Very laid back atmosphere, with great choices on the menu. The staff was pleasant, humorous, and accommodating. Very comfortable indoor and outdoor dining settings. We have returned to the Joseph Ambler Inn many times over the years.
Lovely evening at the Joseph Ambler Inn. Very quiet, non rushed evening with friends. Food was well prepared. Always reliable.
Great dinner. Weather was perfect for outside dining as we celebrated our anniversary. I would recommend trying it if you’ve never been, although I will say it’s a bit overpriced for what you get and compared to other restaurants of a similar caliber.
Hate to complain, but they need to know, every beef and lamb order overcooked, fries oversalted and for the price unacceptable service water glasses unfilled,no check on how our order came out until 20 minutes after delivery...
Always satisfied with everything at JAI. And even though they are short staffed right now we were still taken care of promptly.
The food seemed to be over seasoned. The wait staff was very good.
Was surprised that the table was full of crumbs and the attendant didn’t understand the need to wipe down the entire table! She would wipe down one section and then ask if that was okay. Had to awkwardly point out crumbs! Expect more from a restaurant in general and especially during a pandemic when you thoughtfully select a restaurant.
Service was strong and we will be returning because of it. The food was good for me, but not great as I like things prepared creatively. However, if you prefer traditional, this place was great. For example, my husband had the filet, and it was the best piece of meat prepared I've had in a long time, and it came with well cooked carrots and mashed potatoes. Just simple and cooked perfectly. No extra. Oh, and make sure to eat the bread and butter - heavenly!
The service ,food, and ambiance are second to none!
Salmon was excellent!!!
Food was great
Service horrible. Had water refilled once while there for entire meal. And took 20 minutes after asking.
Ate outside and when sun went down ate in the dark and took staff 30 mins to turn the lights on to the delight of outdoor diners.
Love this place!
Very good, but menu was very limited. I am on the Keto diet and salads were not even good for it. Need to be able to accomodate everyone.
Our only complaint was the salad was not fresh and the lettuce was wilted and our main dish of barley a scallops was not hot
Paul the server was good. Bread and soup were good. Bronzino over pasta not. Fish was dry and tasteless, ditto for pasta . Also had fish and chips. Fish was good, fries were just warm and soft, probably prepared in advance. First time back in 10 years, now I remember why.
WE LOVED THE OUTDOOR DINING BUT WERE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE FOOD PREPARATION AS THE LAMB CHOPS WERE VERY OVERDONE AND NOT PREPARED AS ORDERED. ADDITIONALLY WE WERE DENIED SEPARATE CHECKS AS REQUESTED BECAUSE EACH COUPLE ORDERS EXTREME DIFFERENT FOOD AND DRINK QUANTITIES.
They have friendly service? great food and pleasant atmosphere.
Love this place- such a lovely outdoor setting with great service and food. We fine here frequently and have only goof things to say about it.
We always enjoy Joseph Ambler. The food was outstanding and our server Denise was a delight.
We were a party of 6 and nothing was to much trouble.
We will return again.
Food was really good. Quiet relaxing time sitting outside
JAI has become the 'go to lunch spot' this summer. We love sitting on the beautiful patio. The fish and chips are wonderful by the way.
Even though they seemed short of wait staff, we still got our food quickly and it was excellent. We ate outside and it was so beautiful and relaxing
Joseph Ambler Inn has great ambience. Outside seating is fantastic. Beautiful location. Food is decent. Perhaps slightly expensive for the overall quality. Cocktails are good. Wine by the drink list is fair, but not good. Service acceptable. I've been 4 or 5 times overall the past two years. Not a favorite, but worth an occasional visit.
It was my wife’s birthday and we went with some friends to celebrate. We have been here before and usually had a good meal but this time we were disappointed. The scallops and bronzino were just ok, nothing special. They were both not seasoned very well and they gave you just three scallops which also did not justify the price. My best salad and the cheesecake were very good but other than that we were not too impressed.
