About Jose and Sons

We serve comfort food that celebrates our forefathers’s Mexican roots and the culinary traditions of the local neighborhood.

"Intentionally or not, with the opening of Jose and Sons the Ibarras have also created a gastronomic symbol for the cultural melting pot that our region is increasingly becoming."

"Painted around the base of the bar, in large block capital letters, are the words “HECHO EN RALEIGH.” I can’t think of a more suitable motto for a restaurant that embodies the best of our rapidly evolving local dining scene."

Service was good. No questions. Vegetarian options were very poor. Folks who prefer pork would like this place.

Food is amazing and the service was really good. We had the chefs picnic and it was probably one of the best restaurants in Raleigh.

The food is just so so, definitely not worth the price. Have had better Mexican food elsewhere, nice atmosphere inside. Just wish they had a better product.

Very pleased with our brunch at Jose & Sons! We made a reservation for 11:30 am, but didn't really need it for that early an arrival. The food was excellent and a bit out of the ordinary (waffles with cracklings and soft boiled eggs for me.) Our server was very friendly and informative; the space is tastefully decorated, not garish; and the tab was not outrageous for an upscale Mexican restaurant.

Overall delightful experience! Delicious margaritas and fish tacos! Beet salad was a bit strange; not really to our liking. Service was friendly and efficient.

I love this restaurant. The food is always good, the menu items are creative, the wine list is nice, service is excellent, and unlike many downtown restaurants, Jose and Sons has a parking lot. No trolling for a parking space. That’s a big plus for us.

Great inside and wonderful staff. Salsa was on point and the guacamole and roasted sprouts were great. Main dishes were good but not great. Will keep trying to find south of the border food in the triangle.

What we wanted from the menu was not available ( tortilla soup, white fish ceviche). After taking the time to choose, it was disappointing to be told it was not available.

Have dined here numerous times just the two of us. Great brunch selection and for sharing. Went with my family 7 people they were very accommodating when we added an extra person. The food is always flavorful and the presentation is exceptional. Service was good. The family plate is always a favorite although they recommend it for two people it easily feeds 4. Love the brussel sprouts, tamales, and guacamole! This place never disappoints and will return soon.

Jose and Sons is my absolute favorite go to restaurant in Raleigh. Who doesn’t love Mexican? I️ have no problem drinking the salsa right out of the bowl. Addicting stuff! Best Mexican in Raleigh! When in doubt, Jose and Sons! 💃🏻

Went with a group of friends for a girls night out. Our waiter seemed uninterested and to busy to be bothered with us or our questions throughout service. We ordered guacamole and ceviche for appetizers and both were good, but I've had much better guacamole. The corn was good, the barbacoa was to greasy, but it did have a good flavor, the brussel sprouts were to dredged in the sweet tasting glaze, the meatballs were good and spicy.
It truly is not very Mexican, as only about 3-4 items are truly Mexican inspired. Overall, we were left disappointed and with so many choices around, we would unfortunately not return.

Pleasantly surprised with how delicious everything was. Our waitress was great too - she described her favorites like a food network host with lots a adjectives.

I haven't been back to Jose and Sons since my initial visit 2 years ago. It has definitely gone downhill. We had a party of 5 and ordered plenty on the menu. The ceviche was inedible (as my brother described a 1/10), duck tacos/green tamales/shrimp enchiladas were fine. The only dish that was a standout was the snapper taco dish, though I did like it better when it was 3 constructed tacos as oppposed to a whole fish with just a dry salsa (no crema/cheese). It was advertised as whole fish, but that was fine. The waitress wasn't jazzed about anything on the menu, so that was a bummer. I'll give them this, the chips and salsa are rad.
