About
"Intentionally or not, with the opening of Jose and Sons the Ibarras have also created a gastronomic symbol for the cultural melting pot that our region is increasingly becoming."
"Painted around the base of the bar, in large block capital letters, are the words “HECHO EN RALEIGH.” I can’t think of a more suitable motto for a restaurant that embodies the best of our rapidly evolving local dining scene."
Greg Cox, The News &Observer
Great dishes. Waiter even split our check by what we ordered without us asking. It was awesome. Fish tacos, steak and Springsteen margs are not to be missed.
The location was convenient, our waiter, Michael was professional, cheerful and accommodating! The chips and tacos were gluten free, which is imperative for my diet and ambiance was suitable for the occasion! I look forward to dining at Jose & Sons again!
Isn’t what it used to be....food was awful
I'd been eying the Chefs Picnic, it exceeded expectations. It came out much quicker then I expected. The steak was out of this world and cooked to perfection (medium-rare). The street corn was a good balance of corn and toppings. I could eat the kale all day every day. We had the grilled pineapple margaritas and those were delicious!
Our waiter Michael was wonderful. There was a lot of food and he let us take our time; checked on us for drinks, but we were never rushed. It's a meal that you want to take your time with as to not get too full too fast. We had leftovers but did a number on the picnic and I'd do it again in a heart beat.
Great food. Staff recommended some great options. I loved the lighting and the ambience. Loved the chicheron and waffles. Still can’t believe it’s gluten free.
Excellent food, good service, beautiful setting. One of our new favorites in Raleigh.
Food was good, but not outstanding. Beginning service was a little offhand. We asked our server to give us a few minutes to choose drinks, but he then proceeded to not return at all for 10-12 minutes. The guacamole was good, but cumin-dusted meatballs had no distinctive flavor and the barbacoa was just adequate.
Arrived for 6:30 reservation and were seated promptly. However, while we were expecting an “outstanding” meal, we found our meals (4 of us), while different in preparation, just average and nothing to write home about. And, the visual presentation was just the norm as well; service staff provided no excitement or description either as food was presented.
Therefore, while venue is very nice and food was good you can enjoy a nice meal here. But, if you’re looking for an all around “exceptional/memorable” meal they need to step up their game.
Awesome place and a good go to for us. The collard tamale was phenomenal!
The restaurant at first glance was charming and relaxing. The staff were all friendly. The food just wasn’t worth what we paid for it and we’ve had much better Mexican food for a lot less. I think you need to redo the menu. Using kale in your enchiladas doesn’t make your version of Mexican food more trendy. Focus on making homemade tomatillo sauces, mole sauce, and fresh sides instead of standard bland rice and beans. Try the churros at Bartaco to see why yours were disappointing. Your guacamole was the best part of our meal.
The food was great. One of the best al pastor sauce chicken i had.
The food was perfect as always. José and Sons is one of our Raleigh favorites.
I was celebrating a job promotion and Jose and Sons went above and beyond to help celebrate!
Restaurant Week, the chicken soup had a big bone in it. The burrito was not great and the chocolate mole tasted too much like pepper.
Everything was great! We love it and will be back. Unique spin on Mexican dishes.
My partner and I went for my birthday. We booked a table but showed up early to get a drink at the bar. The host was so kind and accommodating, they sat us at our table early even though we were not expecting that at all. Our server was very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. We cannot wait to go back.
I came here for the firs time for lunch during Triangle Restaurant Week. Everything was fantastic, from the chips and salsa to the substantial three-course meal (plantain taquitos, mushroom quesadilla, and bread pudding). What a great deal for $15: I wasn't hungry the rest of the day! There are lots of vegetarian options, which is great for me, so I'll definitely be returning.
Server spent his time out on smoke breaks instead of checking in with us when we were out of coffee. Food was alright, don’t think I’ll be going back though.
Amazing as always! We went here for our anniversary. It was great food and the staff was nice. The food was quick and delicious. We will define going here again.
Service was slow and food wasn’t good.i would never recommend this place as a place to take a date.
Great ambiance really good food but if you’re a vegetarian the options are very limited.
Went here with friends and the restaurant has a fun and vibrant atmosphere! Margaritas and guacamole were great! I had the Chile relleno which is vegetarian, and it was delicious, the pepper itself wasn’t spicy but the filling was. Others at the table had the shrimp enchiladas, the skirt steak, and the Brussels sprouts and Barbacoa small plates. Everyone enjoyed their meals! We finished off with the churros and pan de natas, which I liked the best! Definitely going back for brunch!
Our first time at Jose & Sons. Our first two starters, the Brussels Sprouts and Farmers Salad were both very good but then we had their Short Rib special, which the waiter recommended, for an entree and the meat was tough, thin, really bad.
Picnic feast was delicious! Loved the shrimp and everything else! The manager George was attentive in addition to our wonderful server Alex. Definitely recommend!
The food, appetizers and drinks were all amazing! Very impressed
Seems like an annual visit during our holiday travels. We’ve never been disappointed.
Had a nice lunch at J&S. Food was wonderfully prepared, tasty, and service was on point! However, I think that my favorite was the Springsteen Margarita..so good!!
The food was not good at all. The service however was great. I'd only recommend for appetizers and drinks.
So fun. Love the food The brussel sprouts and mac and cheese are highly recommended.
My husband and I were very impressed with Jose and Sons. We had excellent dinners, and their homemade guacamole is the bomb. The restaurant is welcoming, and they did a great job preserving the history of the building while transforming it into a restaurant. It was decorated for the holidays and the service was excellent. We will be back!
First time there. Better than expectations with everything: price, environment, decor, taste, service, menu. Need to go back again soon. Parking could be a challenge but there are decks and street parking nearby.
Celebrated a birthday. Server was excellent and noted the occasion. Food was very good - untraditional Mexican. Margaritas were average but I still had two! Enjoyable experience.
Great alternative to a traditional brunch. I'm gluten free and Mexican always gives me some good choices. I just wish they had more egg dishes on their brunch menu. Bloody Mary's were great!!
We were celebrating a family adult birthday and we all had a good time . The food was delicious and served in a timely manner. The wait person was professional and friendly. We were left alone after we ate so we could converse and catch up on our family without feeling like we should leave so you could turn the table. Everyone did mention the music was a little loud.
As soon as me and my husband walked through the door we were greeted and led to our table. Our waiter was very nice and helpful with explaining the menu. He was very attentive to our table. We really enjoyed ourselves.
A meal at Jose & Sons has become an after-vacation tradition for us that helps us enjoy coming back home. We always enjoy our meals/options here and the flavors are oh so mouth-watering.
Fabulous brunch enchiladas. Full sized plate and of course, couldn't pass up the guaguamole. Just a great place.
I made reservations for my best friends birthday and a few extra people wound up coming last minute and our server (I forgot her name but i know she was from NY off her accent) was amazing!!!! She was very accommodating, she was on top of everyone’s drinks, Made sure everyone’s food was good etc. She made me want to come back again
Just not a fan. Server didn't listen. It was just a waste of money.
The parfait would be even more amazing paired with fresh fruit
