Have dined here numerous times just the two of us. Great brunch selection and for sharing. Went with my family 7 people they were very accommodating when we added an extra person. The food is always flavorful and the presentation is exceptional. Service was good. The family plate is always a favorite although they recommend it for two people it easily feeds 4. Love the brussel sprouts, tamales, and guacamole! This place never disappoints and will return soon.
Went with a group of friends for a girls night out. Our waiter seemed uninterested and to busy to be bothered with us or our questions throughout service. We ordered guacamole and ceviche for appetizers and both were good, but I've had much better guacamole. The corn was good, the barbacoa was to greasy, but it did have a good flavor, the brussel sprouts were to dredged in the sweet tasting glaze, the meatballs were good and spicy.
It truly is not very Mexican, as only about 3-4 items are truly Mexican inspired. Overall, we were left disappointed and with so many choices around, we would unfortunately not return.
Server was really attentive and helpful with choices- he was spot on. Food was good, authentic and good layers of flavors. Pork Belly cracklins over waffles was UNBELIEVABLE. Appreciated the Carolina Reaper aoili & Moscow Mule. Great for brunch!!!!! Reasonably priced.
I haven't been back to Jose and Sons since my initial visit 2 years ago. It has definitely gone downhill. We had a party of 5 and ordered plenty on the menu. The ceviche was inedible (as my brother described a 1/10), duck tacos/green tamales/shrimp enchiladas were fine. The only dish that was a standout was the snapper taco dish, though I did like it better when it was 3 constructed tacos as oppposed to a whole fish with just a dry salsa (no crema/cheese). It was advertised as whole fish, but that was fine. The waitress wasn't jazzed about anything on the menu, so that was a bummer. I'll give them this, the chips and salsa are rad.
The food was outstanding as always. The server was really attentive right after we were sat... but by the end we had to stand up and find him for the check. He was way more interested in chatting with the hostess than helping us. But, again the food was wonderful! Minor service error but we will DEFINITELY be back.
Stopped in for lunch while attending the Bluegrass Festival in downtown Raleigh. Food was on point! Steak for my Quesadilla was perfectly cooked/marinated. House salad was fresh, and dressing was delicious. Small Craft Beer Menu, did not disappoint. My Choice paired very well with my food. Server was attentive, but not overbearing. We enjoyed our lunch very much. Check our Jose & Son's if you are attending a concert at Red Hat Amphitheater..conveniently adjacent, just a short walk!
We had reservations at Jose and Sons on a Saturday at 7pm. We arrived about 10 minutes early and we were seated promptly. The restaurant was busy and kinda loud, but we didn't mind that. Our server, Willow, was fantastic! She was very accommodating as one in our party required gluten free. The food is different than your typical Mexican restaurant, but it was delicious. The Gouda Mac & Queso is a must! The Springsteen Margaritas were really good too! If you're thinking about trying Jose and Sons I would suggest that you do!
Finally - a Mexican restaurant with good food! I had the chicken thigh tacos and they were great - blackened to perfection with a nice spicy flavor. I could actually taste the tequila in the margarita - a welcome change from the ones drowning in mix. There was a nice beer selection and the plantain sandwich was equally delicious. We will definitely be back.
Had dinner before concert at Red Hat. Had reservation at 6 and was seated promptly. Requested a booth and they provided a small booth against the back wall. Had drinks, and appetizer (small plates) and dinner. My wife enjoyed the strip steak for dinner and I had the shrimp enchilada's and they were excellent. The app was very good to but I cannot recall what it was exactly, like small egg rolls. Thy got us in and out in an hour so we could make it in plenty of time to see Garbage and Blondie without having to run. Quite a nice meal and atmosphere.
My wife and I were heading to the Blondie/Garbage concert at Red Hat and were looking for a place close by with good reviews and good food. Jose and Sons fit the bill, so a reservation was made.
Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The interior of Jose & Sons was eclectic. We were hungry. My wife had the Chicharron and Waffle, and me - the Enchiladas Del Mar. While we both enjoyed our dishes we couldn't come close to finishing them and no place to safely stash a "doggie bag" for 4-5 hours. The reason we couldn't finish? We split a small plate of Gouda Mac N' Queso. That with the chips & salsa, and a beer left no room! The Gouda Mac N' Queso is really, really good!
Live and learn. Next time, maybe no Gouda Mac N' Queso. But then again...
