Jo's American Bistro
5:00pm - 10:00pm Friday and Saturday
Lunch Saturday and Sunday 12:00-3:30
This restaurant made for a very enjoyable night out. The combination of service, which was terrific, excellent food, reasonable prices, ambiance, welcoming atmosphere all added to our overall enjoyment. This night out was a celebration of my wife's birthday and I don't think we could have picked a better spot. They work hard to make this an enjoyable experience and it shows.
Jo's gets consistently strong reviews so we were confident that dinner would be excellent. Food was good, so were wine and drinks. Service was fabulous; we had a courteous, attentive, and engaging server. However, there was a large party next to us - 6 adults and numerous children - who were loud and completely unaware of their impact on the rest of the room. Definitely was a negative. Not sure what Jo's could've done except give them the room and seat us quiet tables elsewhere (downstairs?) .
We had an excellent meal here and will most certainly be back next time we are in town. The appetizers and entrees were fabulous, as were the desserts and drinks. Our waitress was friendly and helpful - the best we have had in a while. We went there for a birthday date night during our vacation and they did not disappoint.
Only thing that deterred me from giving Jo's 5 stars was the noise level on the 2nd floor. The food was outstanding and the service matched. If you want a quieter space, I'd select the 1st floor since it didn't seem to have long tables with large parties.
Overall enjoyable experience. Perfect table. GREAT service by Olivia!
Very unusually, not their best effort on two items - Caesar salad was prepared with poor quality/not fresh greens (cost removed from bill). Steak was of lower quality than usual; and was medium to well vice medium rare as ordered.
Service was exceptional, food delicious and abundant portions. Very happy we chose it for my son’s birthday.
Food was good along with prompt and courteous service. Very noisy and very, very low lighting, even the young eyes had difficulty seeing their plates.
Dinner was excellent. Waiter was very attentive and friendly. Atmosphere very nice.
I've never been disappointed at Joe's. A great atmosphere, varied quality menu and super service.
Fantastic!! It was our first time there and we were blown away by the service and the food. Incredible job by the entire staff and the food was fantastic. Super impressed and we are hard to impress. Can’t wait to go back.
we go to Jo's as often as we are in Newport. We have never been disappointed. brought some friends
with us and they loved it. ate in the bar. live music was great. meal and service was excellent.
Jo's American Bistro is one of our go to places whenever we visit Newport. The food and the service are always really good. We also like the casual atmosphere.
Jo's is one of our go to restaurants. Food is always good and the ambiance is fine. Always a pleasant evening out
Excellent food and atmosphere. Tracey the waitress was a real gem..She made great drink and menu suggestions. Looking forward to our next visit.
We had a delicious dinner and great service.
Always great, awesome service!
The upstairs dining area was nicely sized and pretty quiet. The staff was great, the food was great and the servings were big. I look forward to going back and sitting at their small hideaway upstairs bar.
Had a great meal with Great friends and family
Festive decorations and mood lighting make this a comfortable restaurant for an evening out. Date night or girls night this is a great place. Hostess and waitress were attentive, and pleasant. Service was casual, we were not rushed out the door, knowledgeable about food for GF options. Nice selection of cocktails and beer. Dinner specials were delicious with seasonal flair. Can't wait to go again!
Awesome restaurant. My wife and I were in newport for our anniversary and the hotel recommended jo's. Food was great and Olivia provided outstanding service. The live jazz duo was another plus.
Food is always great, atmosphere comfortable and inviting, and live music is fun.
The food was great. Wonderful selection with great choices. Service was spot on. Always nice to see the owner or a manager walk around and check on the people dining.
Very good service by all personnel. Meal was very good.
Excellent food and service in Newport. A real favorite.
A true Newport gem. Patronne Jo Ann, Chef Brian and Manager Jimmy have crafted an outstanding culinary experience with wonderful ambiance and excellent service. A la carte selections range from comfort to gourmet, always imaginative and with fresh ingredients, and always cooked to perfection. Prix fixe (Sun-Wed) has outstanding, full-size two courses and a glass of wine/beer for $20.95 -- hard to beat in this town. HALF PRICE BAR APPS on Friday and Sunday!! Diverse, well-thought-out wine list with reasonable prices. Service is friendly, cheerful, timely and unobtrusive. They are getting very busy, even off season and even on weekdays, so reservations are very much recommended.
Great food and ambiance! Wonderful staff. Perfect choice when visiting Newport.
Newport restaurant week menu was good and a great value for a three course dinner
We went to Jo's during Newport Restaurant Week and all ordered from the Restaurant Week menu. There were varied choices for each of the three courses and the food was all delicious. Would definitely revisit the next time we are in Newport.
Excellent food and Jimmy recommended great wines to go with our meals. We will definitely be back next time we are in Newport.
Jo's always provides a consistently good experience. Their restaurant week menu was a great value and everyone's entrees were excellent. Service was good and very attentive.
Fantastic dinner with friends, we were there during Restaurant Week and the food options were plentiful and delicious!
Was a perfect experience, except for the music. I don’t know who was in charge of the playlist, but it was atrocious. I honestly thought it was a joke at first.
This is my second Open Table review of Jo's. It is quickly becoming one of our favorite Newport restaurants. When I made the reservation, I let them know it was our wedding anniversary. It also happened to be restaurant week. We were seated at a cozy corner booth. We had surf and turf, which was amazing. My wife and I tried different desserts, which were brought out with a candle on each...a nice touch, we thought. We preferred the Tiramisu, which was excellent, to the Apple-Cranberry Crisp, but the latter was still good. The service was perfectly timed - we never felt rushed. This restaurant has an ambiance - neither stuffy nor overly causal - which, when combined with the quality of the food, makes it a great choice for an evening out. We will be back soon, I'm sure.
Ate here for restaurant week and had a delicious dinner! We hadn't eaten here before and we were pleasantly surprised by how relaxing, warm and cozy the interior is. The service was timed perfectly; not so frequent it interrupted the conversation and not too slow that we needed anything. I ordered the lobster carbonara and it was very good.
One of my favorites. Friendly staff and good service. We go to Jo’s several times a month
The best meal we had all weekend!
Luv Jo's! good atmosphere, great food with music and wine!
Food was amazing I would highly recommend...
Nice cozy ambiance with a warm friendly staff. The food well prepared and tasty, a great dine for a special occasion.
Our food was delicious and perfectly cooked. They have a potato corn puree that was AMAZING!
It was busy because it was restaurant week in Newport but the quality of our entrees did not suffer at all.
