What a great place to dine, we always go back when we are in Newport!
The food is bountiful & delicious.
Don’t miss the Bread pudding with peaches & carmel sauce , outstanding!
My wife and I tried Joes for the first time as we were in town for the Newport Boat Show. Deconstructed Oysters Rockefeller a must have! Shrimp dish over bacon risotto was delicious as well as the pan seared scallops. Waiter (Pierson) was very attentive as well as helpful. A great find!
Food was great and wait staff was good. Stood at the bar for 15 minutes prior to getting seated and never got a drink.
The Restaurant was so charming and the food was outstanding! Put it on your must go to restaurant when in Newport Rhode Island!
Great spot to meet friends for dinner. Service was attentive but not rushed. Food was very good...recommend the pan roasted cod!
Anniversary dinner, we showed up a little late for reservation and they were so accommodating.
My wife and daughter and I had dinner at Jo's Bistro last Saturday evening to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary. The service was exceptional from the moment we arrived and the food was tasty and delicious. It was a wonderful dining experience that helped to make our special occasion very special.
This was our first time dining at this wonderful restaurant in downtown Newport. We went to Jo's because my wife was in the mood for a burger and I was looking for finer dining. Fortunately, this restaurant could meet both of our needs. The atmosphere is perfect - casual, but classy. My wife loved her burger and the scallops were the best I've had in Newport. The by-the-glass wine list was excellent, and my wife's cocktail was generously-sized. The dessert, bread pudding, was scrumptious. I would add that it was a pleasure to be greeted by the owner of the restaurant when we arrived. We can't wait to go back.
Decent food, very very loud, begrudging service with a lot of attitude. Would never come back.
We tried Jo's for the first time on Thursday night. Wow. They've thought about the dining experience and deliver it flawlessly. We'll be back!
First visit to Jo’s Bistro on vacation in Newport. Best entry ever- pan sheared scallops over puréed corn and potatoe mash with fresh basil and grape tomatoes! Great service and very lovely room up stairs..clean lines and attractive!
Will be back for sure.
Had a good time and a great meal at Jo's American Bistro!
Tourist trap for sure. Overpriced and food and drinks are mediocre
First Time to the restaurant and it won't be my last. Went with friends and had an enjoyable evening with some background live music. Girls ordered salmon and duck which were outstanding, guys got burgers cooked perfectly.
We were in Newport on Labor Day weekend so I knew to book ahead.
We were seated at a lovely table inside, but my husband requested patio, and it was wonderful. They changed us very quickly.
Both meals and dessert and coffee amazing.
Will definitely eat there next time in Newport...
Since it is a little away from the busy waterfront. .the atmosphere wonderful.
Food was just alright; the description sounds great on the menu but doesn't come close when served. Wouldn't recommend it!
Food was excellent, service outstanding. We shared a variety of generously sized appetizers rather than a full meal, and all were well prepared. Highly recommend the calamari, the lobster and duck quesadillas, and the peach bread pudding with caramel sauce. The only problem we encountered was at the reception/host desk. They couldn't find our reservations for a while, and we kept getting passed along to different staff. Fortunately, our server's gracious and accommodating manner helped improve the evening.
Great food and excellent service at Jo’s. One of the best dinners in Newport
My husband and I dined after a polo match for the first time and loved it! The wait staff was very friendly especially the sommelier, she was very knowledgeable regarding the wine. I had the cod and was in heaven; my husband had the fish and chips which were one of the best he’s had. We highly recommend this restaurant!
We love this place. Very professional staff and management.
We went to Jo's based on the high reviews in TripAdvisor. We were not steered wrong. The location on Memorial Drive is away from the hectic harbor area. Free parking is a breeze. Two floors of seating including covered and non-covered outdoor dining on the second floor. Very comfortable, easy vibe to the place. The food was just wonderful. Fried calamari appetizer was hot, fresh and crispy with a piquant chili aioli. The seared scallops and pan roasted cod were amazing (other than the grilled focaccia that came with the cod - it was burnt and gluey). Everything tasted fresh and clean. Service was friendly, efficient and attentive. Because of it's location off-harbor, it is a calm dining oasis! Hope it doesn't get too discovered!
Average, my steak was over cooked. Someone that was with me had a burger and they raved about it
Excellent service, food superb as always. Noise does tend to echo, but atmosphere & ambiance makes up for it. A favorite!
Upstairs was quiet and relaxing. Great waiters.
Excellent food and the service leaves nothing to be desired. Want more bread or salad dressing? Just ask and it's yours. We ate on the outside second story patio and it was GREAT. Highly recommend Jo's.
Jo's has a pretty good menu with a variety of choices, not too big of a menu but not too small. It has anything that most people would like; beef, chicken, fish, pasta and good salads. It is reasonably priced but quality food. The wine menu is fairly good, not stellar but good enough. The service is always good.
Very warm and friendly greeting. Great attentive staff. Food was the best all weekend!!
Consistently great dinners at Jo’s. Owner has long history in restaurant business in Newport and knows what her customers want.
A little noisy and hard to hear but the waiter was friendly and attentive and the food was very good.
We love Jo's. Never disappoints. Food, drinks, service, atmosphere - the best!
My family and I had one of the best experiences in Newport at Jo’s. We were traveling with a 2.5 year-old who was used to 6pm bedtime - so he was CRANKY when we sat down for a 7pm dinner. Between the waitress and the hostesses - they did everything to help keep him happy and content - even in the middle of his tantrums. I can not thank them enough for how gracious they were!! The food was excellent too!! The mussels were out of this world, calamari was perfect. I had the cod and it was equally delicious. When we are in Newport again - without a doubt, we will be back here!!! Thank you to the wonderful staff for everything!!
Food and wait staff were great. Very enjoyable evening. Good variety of offerings. Would definitely recommend.
Jo's is always a good choice. Atmosphere is good, staff is excellent.
Tourists in town. Enjoyed everything about this restaurant. Can’t miss dinner option.
Absolutely phenomenal! From beginning to end, appetizer to dessert! Can not rave enough! Will be back soon!
Good food. Good service. Would recommend.
The pre fix special was fabulous.
Love the lobster carbonara!
Great wine list and friendly servers!
Had a great dinner here with my son who is gluten free. Husband and I had delicious lobster rolls. Staff was very attentive and great drink special, pinapple infused vodka. Son had steak with bacon cheddar mashed potatoes. Yum!
Delicious dinner and wonderful experience...couldn’t have been better.
