My husband said I had to write a review when I said it was my top meal of 2023. I had the seared scallops and they were everything. Perfectly seared, seasoned, and accompanied with the gnocchi, tomatoes and peas. Get it! Husband had the steak and frites which was gave a 7/10.

It was my third time here and each time the food and service have been outstanding! This time I enjoyed the cod and clams. I don't remember the menu name but think a warming bouillabaisse with fennel, light tomato, garlic and toasty bread for dipping. It was delicious!

This was our first time dining at Joe’s and it definitely will not be our last! Our waitress was excellent and the owner stopped by our table multiple times to not just check on us but to have wonderful conversation. She told us about her background in the restaurant business and the history about her restaurant. She also gave us interesting insights into the chef and his background and experiences. It truly was not only an exceptional meal, but a memorable experience.

Terrific menu, great service. Highly recommend. You’ll need a reservation in the summer, and locals, unless they live within walking distance, will probably wait til the off-season when the parking on America’s Cup Blvd gets easier, although if you check Jo’s website, you’ll see a deal they have arranged with a nearby parking lot. You’ll still pay, but if you make the arrangements online it’ll be less than if you rolled in off the street. Kayla, our server was friendly, cheerful, and helpful without being obtrusive. The Tomato Tart app was amazing, the standard burger was cooked perfectly and came with the perfect combo of toppings. The pickles were a special treat. The Prix Fixe menu is also a great way to go, but they are struct about substitutions, which is completely understandable. We were seated upstairs, which was fine, as conversation was an important part of our evening. Downstairs is probably preferable if you enjoy the hustle and bustle, but don’t get upset if they seat you upstairs, as the service wasn’t slowed down, nor were we neglected. Prices are Newport normal, with the burger and hand cut fries at around $17, and the three-course Prix Fixe running around $25. The aforementioned Tomato Cheddar Bacon Tart was, as mentioned, delicious, but a wee bit pricey at $15. 16 oz cans of Narry are 5.50, specialty cocktails will cost you, and the wine list went from “I can afford this,” to, well, higher. Newport Normal. We were there in mid-November on a Wednesday night. Parking was easily available on America’s Cup, and although we had a reservation, we probably could have walked in and not waited for a table. We’ll be back, and if you haven’t been there, give Jo’s a try.

Wonderful meal, great service by waitress. Do not get there early for a drink at the bar because the bar is reserved. We went up the block for a drink and came back. Our waitress was very friendly! Food was delicious.

It was a little disorganized and we got shunted to the upstairs back room when we had a long-standing reservation My filet was great but the others had swordfish which was fair. Staff seemed to be overworked.

We had never been to Jo's, so we decided to go for Newport Restaurant Week 2023. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. Drinks and orders were taken, and everything came out in a timely manner. Warm rolls were wonderful. They came out in a paper bag. Appetizers were delicious! I had the Lobster Cottage fries fresh and delicious. My wife had Beef Carpaccio and loved every bite. We both had the Filet Mignon Oscar, and it was cooked to perfection! The lobster was sweet & and fresh, and twice baked potatoes were tasty. Dessert for both of us was Apple Cake with caramel sauce and cinnamon ice cream. So yummy. Service was great! Very attentive but not intrusive at all. All said, we had a wonderful time at Jo's American Bistro! Will definitely be back!

Great food and price. Great cocktails. Agreed to bread offered by server, and had to ask for bread as assisting server did not bring bread with 1st course. Dessert came promptly after mains, but wait for coffee made longer as server had to brew decaf. Jo’s 2nd floor was also warm and cozy. We always come back.

Used restaurant week option as a reason to try a place I had not been before. The food was good without overwhelming portions. The regular menu looked interesting too and the atmosphere was nice there- so I will be back to try other offerings.

Had a nice dinner at Jo’s. Our waitress, Kayla, was fantastic. She was efficient and helpful, allowing us time to make our selections and offering great recommendations. We were seated on an enclosed “porch” area, which was very cold. My husband mentioned to a gentleman who appeared to be the manager that we were cold, but he did not offer to remedy the situation in any way. The food was very good, although my husband’s apple cake dessert was cold. (Although its description didn’t indicate that it was warm, it tasted like it had just come out of the refrigerator.) we’ve had great experiences at Jo’s in the past, so we hope this was just an off-night for us.

We have only had incredible dining experiences at Jo's American Bistro. This year's Fall Restaurant Week was no exception. Many options to choose from and everything from the appetizer to the dessert was amazing! We highly recommend this restaurant when you're in the Newport area.

The menu for NRW was outstanding. The food is always good but this weeks visit was exceptional. Filet Mignon with lobster claw, fresh and delicious salad, pumpkin soup, appetizers were fab and the dessert was also outstanding :) Wine list great too! Hats off to Joanne and her Chef and the entire team at Jo’s American Bistro!

Jo's American Bistro has always been a great place to meet with friends and last night was no exception. The restaurant was very full and the tables were very diverse and lively. The Restaurant Week Menu was great with a good variety of options for appetizers, entrees and desserts. The service was attentive and helpful and not pushy. We had a great night!

Another excellent meal at Jo's! We come here every time we're in Newport and the food and service are always great. We especially enjoyed the Newport Restaurant week three course prix fixe menu. The filet mignon (w/lobster claws) and apple pork chop were excellent! Service was very friendly and attentive. We will be back!

We visited on Saturday 11-14-23 during restaurant week. The service was very good and the food was excellent. One issue regarding service. The desserts were brought out but we were not offered coffee either before or after receiving our dessert. I know this is difficult for a restaurant to address but there was a table of eight seated close to the bar that were very loud and throwing out F bombs like they were on a construction site and not in a nice restaurant. That did detract from our experience. Having a football game on the tv was at least partially responsible for their rude behavior.

Fabulous Restaurant Week dinner. Pumpkin apple soup was delicious, filet generously topped with lobster claws was tender and cooked just right, and the apple cake with cinnamon whipped cream was the perfect ending. Would give Jo’s 10 stars if I could.
