My friend and I ordered the jory salad, chicken breast, and burger. All were excellent. Jory has gluten free bread for the burger bun and it was quite good. Service was excellent.
One of the best meals I have ever had. The wine flight ended up being better than anything I had from the wineries we had spent the day touring. Thank you for the wonderful service.
Service was impeccable, attentive but unobtrusive. Food was perfectly prepared. Wine selection was broad with varietals for every dish from multiple domestic and international regions. Even the music playing over the PA was enjoyable w/ subtle volume. Another wonderful meal at Jory for us.
We were staying at the Allison Resort and Spa, in which the Jory is located. So convenient and with such rave reviews, we had to try it. The views through the restaurant windows alone made the choice worthwhile. Service was friendly and excellent and when a gentle reminder that the server forgot to bring us bread, he returned post-haste with a full basket of freshly baked bread and salted butter. While the food was not as spectacular as we might have thought, given some of the reviews, it was certainly delicious and well prepared. If you are in the Northwest and touring wineries, it's certainly worth a visit.
Exceptional. Everything we ordered was a taste sensation. Halibut. Crab&shrimp melt. Chocolate lava dessert.
The JORY Restaurant is a mandatory stop while visiting local wineries! Even if you couldn't have your reservation to stay at The Allison.
Menu poorly explained at lunch- causing confusion for our group. “3 course tasting menu” is NOT A TASTING MENU. Rather, it was a soup & salad & sandwich combo that comes out on one plate, served as an entree.
Because a member of our group ordered the “tasting menu” I chose to order a soup course so she wouldn’t have to eat alone. Out comes my soup... and we’re waiting, and waiting.... and waited. Her soup never came. Finally by the time my soup was cold, we asked where her 1st course of 3 was. They informed us it wasn’t actually a tasting menu - it all comes at once. Well, then don’t call it a tasting menu, call it a soup and salad and sandwich combo. Don’t try and make your menu sound fancy if it isn’t.
Food was under seasoned, cold, and service was lackluster. Granted, it’s the only place in the valley with a nice view and a reasonable lunch service, so like a crazy person I return, despite disappointing experiences every time.
For a very nice restaurant, I think it should have something better that a plastic chiller bucket for white wine.
These guys know their stuff. Extremely good service and food
Well, there is a cliche about hotel restaurants and how they usually are mediocre at best. This was clearly not the case.
JORY completely blew me away. Everything from the view to the ambience to the service and the delectable food was completely amazing. I walked in knowing it might be some super awkward business casual restaurant but I walked away full and happy.
The lunch tasting was very filling and the seafood soup was super rich in flavor.
Definitely would recommend, even if you aren’t staying at the resort.
Best meal, best service, most wine knowledge in all of Oregon.
The chef creates amazing delicious meals that are locally sourced. Each visit there has been something new on the menu. I’ve eaten there 3 times, and I had the same great server each time (Shane is great).
Jory is an experience not to be missed. Exceptional service and extremely knowledgable wine steward made the evening super enjoyable. Fantastic selection of Oregon wines, which is such a treat. Go hungry and order from each course as the starters, soups, salads and desserts are as extraordinary as the entree's.
Combination business and pleasure, could not have had a better meal, service or atmosphere! We love the ambience there and how professional and knowledgeable your staff is.
Great lunch! Service was amazing and the food was excellent! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting good food, service and a great location.
Perfect. Every detail was anticipated. Portions were ideal.
From the moment we walked in the door to the time we left nothing met out expectations. We were 5 minutes early for our reservations yet had to wait 15 minutes to be seated in a nearly empty restaurant. Service was slow and not very professional. Dinner took over 60 minutes to reach our table from the time we placed the order. Food was cold and under cooked when served. Ultimately we ended up leaving Jory with no dinner.
Personally what bothered me the most is this was a 10 year anniversary for my wife and I and Jory did nothing to make it special. I've become accustomed to having special times acknowledged when information is given when making a reservation. Jory is not worth the money.
All I can say is if you're in Oregon Wine Country, you have to stop by the Jory Restaurant. The you taste the freshness of the ingredients, which they get from their own garden and the rest is locally sourced. Excellent food and service.
This is always a great spot for a special girls' lunch before we head out to the amazing offering of wineries in the area. Very cozy & elegant space, delicious fresh food. They have a fabulous wines-by-the-glass menu. We had a delicious Alexana Chardonnay by the glass and then went to the winery's tasting room after lunch - which was a fabulous find. The whole area is very special and this decadent treat is sometimes just what the doctor ordered!
Everything about The Jory is excellent. It's a bit expensive for me, but it is worth it. I just can't eat there very often, but wish I could.
It was an entirely enjoyable dining experience from the pleasant young man at the front check in for reservations who ushered us to our booth to the wonderful waiter who gave us exceptional service. The food was excellent and our cocktails were delicious.
First, Jamie was our waiter and he was awesome. Second, they offered a dairy-free menu. They were very accommodating for a Paleo eater. Great service and ambience. Highly recommend.
Lovely pre-Christmas brunch with dear friends who live in Newberg. We traveled over an hour to get to Jory's but it's worth the extra time/distance. We're always treated very well, the food is consistently beautifully presented and the service impeccable. Love the eggs Benedict especially.
Dinner and service were both excellent. Staff were courteous and prompt. Staff was helpful in explaining and making selections. All of the food was wonderful.
We’ve eaten at JORY many times and found it quite enjoyable. However, our last experience was a bit disappointing. While the service is VERY attentive, it’s a bit too much. We constantly had someone at our table refilling water, refilling wine glasses, asking if we needed anything etc.... it was excessive and interfered with conversation and the overall experience.
Really uninspired dishes and depressing options for a vegetarian for a place that claims to be farm to table. We ate brunch the next morning and the service was bad.
We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at Jory. We found the food to be excellent. You could tell that ingredients were thoughtfully chosen, fresh, local and tasty. Food presentation was beautiful. We called a few weeks in advance of our stay and were placed on a wait list for any dinner seating time that became available. Unfortunately we were never contacted. Upon check-in we checked to see if any openings had become available and still there was nothing. We were bummed but there were still two options available; in room dinning and first come first serve dining at the bar or in the living room. We chose to try to find a seat in the living room or at a table in the bar and it proved to be quite difficult and frustrating. Eventually we ended up with seating at the bar. The lady bar server was amazing, friendly and very attentive and turned our experience around. So a big thank you to her for her hospitality and for sharing tips on Colorado travel. Food wait times for both dinner and breakfast were a little on the longer side then we are use to, but the quality, freshness and presentation make up for the wait. Overall, an excellent dining experience.
Food preparation and presentative is excellent. Chef has developed imaginative recipes without overdoing unusual ingredients or combinations.
Services is thoroughly professional while remaining warm and welcoming. Staff has achieved balance of being fully attentive without being intrusive. Service reminds me of best European restaurants.
The food was absolutely excellent, and it's a beautiful place. But while the servers were earnest to a fault, they spilled both of our glasses of red wine on my companion and no offer was made to pay for her dry-cleaning. The wine glasses--which were full when spilled--were refilled but not comped. Jory provided a free extra course to us between our appetizer and entrée--but we were on a tight schedule and they did not ask us if we had time or wanted the extra course. (It was very good--a seafood/rice casserole--but my companion was also having seafood risotto as her entrée.) All in all, we were there nearly 2.5 hours, and I was 45 minutes late getting home. Maybe Tuesday nights are not the best nights to dine at Jory!
Restaurant is beautiful and food was exceptional; overall a great experience. Had to ask for water refills and set up for dinner was happening all around us, even at the next table. A definite distraction from what would have been an exceptional dining experience...
Our server was attentive and friendly. The chef sent us treats to try. The seating was private and comfortable for our anniversary. The food was 5 star!
We go to the Willamette Valley to do wine pickups 2 to 3 times a year and always make sure we stop by Jory for brunch. The food was great this time for brunch, however the wait time for the food was a bit long (over 30 minutes) without much communication from the server about the length of time. We were only told there was a mess up in the kitchen.
Service was slow...it took 30 minutes just to get our drinks, the rest of the dinner proceeded just as slowly. Nice restaurant but they need to invest in more servers to get things moving...they seemed stretched thin on the wait staff
Jory's is the perfect antidote to too busy, too chaotic world. It's a place where diners actually "dine," where service is not only provided with a smile, but the overall vibe invites each guest to know their meal will be just as wonderful as the overall ambiance. Whenever we visit this restaurant, we not only enjoy our meal, our psyche's lift and our digestion improves. What a gem! Consistent no matter what occasion. And if you're not 100% happy with anything, all you need to do is speak to the waiter or your hostess. They will do all they can to make it 'right.'
burger was tasty but heavy and greasy with an excessive amount of bacon. the fried green tomato BLT was tasteless mush: served on too-thin (or flattened), grilled bread, with black grease marks from a dirty grill or press; the entire sandwich was made mushy by the heat and moisture of the tomato; they used salad "spring" greens instead of a heartier lettuce - this created hot wilted lettuce - all around awful, we took two bites and did not eat it.
they also served us a very warm sauvignon blanc, then claimed it was the "correct temperature for white wine," as though all white wine should be served at the same temperature (it should not).
our waiter was clueless (and disappeared); the head waiter was also clueless and off-putting (said he would "mention [the wine temperature] to the somm").
overall forgettable/regrettable food, poor service and low value. a one and done!
Shane Jensen was by far the most outstanding person we've ever met!!!! We adored him!!!! We hope to meet Chef Matt soon!!!
We enjoyed a lovely and delicious birthday lunch with our granddaughter. The service was also excellent. Thank you very much.
We enjoyed the service and food was highly anticipated however everything was overly salted !
The desserts were fantastic however
The food was quite good however very limited choice on the menu. I think there may have been six choices of entrées. Be prepared to spend a minimum of $35-$40 per person for just the entrée. The ambience was nice the service was OK, nothing Really extra special. I would recommend this restaurant for a very special occasion only.
We ordered "stuff"...Jeremy picked perfect dishes for us and just the right amount. Great time!!
