Jorge's Tex Mex Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Have been here many times before. Something has changed. Service is truly terrible. Gave my drink order to 3 different waiters, and finally got the wrong drink after 20 minutes, then had to wait some more for the correct drink. There was no greeter at the door, and I did not see anyone acting as manager, so lots of customers stood around wondering what to do. There was no one there except 3 or 4 waiters and customers. No one seemed to realize that there were any problems. The food order was correct, and the food was as good as always, when it finally arrived. The house was about 2/3 full.
Service was very poor. Waitress was very slow and we had to actually call her over and say "just when will our food be ready". Oops, she had left it sitting on the counter! She
then brought the wrong order to my friend. There was not time to reorder, but she did
manage to find the correct order. Probably then took the wrong order and gave it to
someone else. Did not check on us until it was time to leave. This is the second visit in
a row with poor service. We have season's tickets at Winspear and Jorge's is a very
convenient place to go and the food is, and was good. If you are that busy, and you do
seem to be, might I suggest more wait staff?
Restaurant has lots of seating outdoors as well as in. Food was just average and a little pricy but probably in line with the location in the city. Margareta was weak, flavorless, and a little watered down. And for $8.50 not anything anyone should consider. Service was good and waiter was very friendly. Great location for area Arts events.
Six friends enjoyed brunch this past Sunday prior to going to Dallas Theatre Center; the location is perfect with a brief walk to the venue with valet parking available. The food was all delicious, our female waitstaff was charming and attentive, we ate inside at a round table--all created a very pleasant brunch.
Feels like a duty to warn others about this inept operation in One Art Plaza. While my dish (the chipotle Caesar salad) was the only truly poor one, all of our foursome were subjected to the same lame service: slow, confused, forgetful. Service became a stressor as we wondered whether we'd be late to our Arts District performance -- and yes, we'd informed the waiter of our timing from the start.
It terribly understaffed, even with full knowledge of reservations. Our server was seriously in the weeds from the get-go! Wrong drinks served, food arrived cold, never could get her attention to address these items. We've dined here often as we are season ticket holders for AT&T Performing Arts Center. But, this was the last time. Service is always off; but, tonight it was non-existent! Management should do a better job of scheduling staff; especially, when they know how many covers there will be due to reservations. Jorge's is able to be viable simply due to their proximity to the Arts District.
I realize several restaurants at One Arts Plaza have struggled and folded through the years. Apparently it is a tough sell for customers who aren't going to the theater nearby. I suspect that is why Jorge's food isn't better than it is. The service was good and the restaurant is extremely convenient to the arts district. Parking at the nearby lot is a third of the cost of parking under the Wyly or the Winspear. But the food simply doesn't measure up. My enchilada, rice and beans all flowed together in one big glop on the plate and the taco was burned around the edges. I really want these restaurants to succeed so we will have a place to go for dinner before the theater. But it will require more attention to the menu and less to getting people in and out.
Met friends for brunch before an event in the Arts District. The food and service were good. We were very disappointed that the $1 add-on mimosa offer was no longer valid, although it is clearly listed on Open Table. The menu was also slightly different. I completely understand that the info on Open Table is supplied by the restaurant, so this is up to Jorge's to fix and update.
The food was good as usual and they certainly know how to make a good frozen margarita!
The service this time was not up to standard, had to ask several times for butter and the
server was probably having to handle too many tables. One was a large table and we were
just 2 people, so who got ignored? Bet you can guess.
I am a very patient person and rarely give a negative review. We have eaten at Jorge's for many years. We like the proximity to the theater so we can eat and literally walk down the street to the show. During this visit, we experienced very slow service. Our waiter was not attentive and failed to refill water, tea, chips etc. We even had to go ask for our bill when we were ready to leave. Perhaps they were short staffed the night we came. The real disappointment came when we got the bill. I was shocked to learn that my "House Wine" was $13.00. I have never paid that much for a house wine. I understand that I should have not ordered it if I didn't know the price. However, I feel like $13 for house wine is a big rip off since they serve it during Happy Hour for $5. We will not be bringing our theater group back after this disappointing visit.
