Jones never disappoints. The food is always good, and the bonus for Walnut Street Theatre subscribers is the complimentary piece of chocolate cake with the accompanying glass of milk.
I used to love this place. Went back with a friend for a pre-theater dinner. The food was AWFUL. I am talking college cafeteria quality on my brisket dinner: mushy, oversalted, chewy, small portion. My friend got the chicken cutlet, which seemed a bit better, but not by much. This place is supposed to be dinner like mom made-- now it's more like lunch lady leftovers. And the service, though friendly, was spotty. We waited a full 20 minutes after finishing our meal before we could find our server to get our check. And it wasn't even crowded that night. Such a disappointment.
Absolutely terrible service. The server was MIA. She finally came over when we were finished but never brought the jelly that was requested. The food was good but nothing special. Disappointing for a Stephen Starr restaurant.
This is a cool place to experience but somewhat hard to describe.
The food is self styled down home and solid and reasonably diverse within that niche.
Yet also very now with a good variety of cocktails. The atmosphere is pleasantly energetic
and the service is very good.
Definitely recommend it. In many ways it is like other places but in other ways it is unique.
Nice meal. Coffee too strong, but waitress was professional about it.
Delicious Brunch! We enjoyed our morning time here. Eggs Benedict was fantastic. Champagne special was excellent
Went after a 5k. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Good food. It was so hard to decide what to eat!
Loved this place!! Ambiance, food, employees- Great!
Been here a million times and the service just keeps getting worse. After this last time we are done.
Made a reservation and were seated on time but hen ignored for nearly fifteen minutes. We asked one of the hostesses (multiple hosts/hostesses and not enough servers) and she brought the manager over who apologized and took our drink order. Another ten minutes passes. Nothing. Another five. Finally the drinks arrive. We ask if the manager is now our server because no one has come over to us. At all. He says ok. We order and the food takes a long time. It’s delicious. We are fast eaters. This entire endeavor took 2.25 hours. It should have taken maybe an hour. We almost got a ticket. Ridiculous. Jones is good but it’s not that good and it’s definitely not good enough to return after this experience.
Food was good, however the service had a lot to be desired. The place was very busy, however the restaurant was not prepared for this since it looked like they only had about 3-4 servers on. We had to track down our server to get the bill and our order was actually taken by a manager. They did have three people hosting, which made not sense since they could have used them to serve. I will go give Jones another chance, just hoping this time they have enough staff scheduled.
We found our food very salty. Not a fabulous dining experience. Ordered my steak medium rare bordering on rare, close to rare, came out medium, hardly any pink. Basket of fried chicken was overly fried and very dry.
Service was very slow, Friday, 6:00 pm., had a reservation. Food delivered to table at 6:45.
Please share with the kitchen.
Go somewhere else! Very poor and that is so sad. This used to be very good. Service is incredibly slow and food is average. Another great restaurant ruined by greed. The owners take their eye off the ball and get real comfy making money. Then service, quality, food, and employees all start to slip and they are soon out of business. Shame on them.
The turkey pot pie was excellent.
Carl our Bartender was TOPs he made great recommendations.
Our personable server Barbara is knowledgeable on the menu and provided expert guidance to sort through the choices. Great comfort food.
Family of 5 adults enjoyed brunch. Food was good, ambiance was better. I had avacado toast, which seemed somewhat plain, same with another's grits. Monkey bread was ok. Others seemed okay with their meals.
The staff was very polite and accommodating. Our waitress was friendly and all of our dishes came out in great time. Everyone at the table loved the monkey bread we ordered to share and I cannot recommend teh brisket sandwich enough for brunch. It was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had.
We had a great time at Jones. It was a nice atmosphere on a Saturday night. Very causal variety of ages from young families with kids to hipsters and older.
Fun atmosphere with good classic dishes with a spin.
Great spot for brunch! The wait staff was very helpful, especially considering we had two people in our party with serious food allergies (egg and gluten). The portions were fairly large (in a good way!) - I had the matzoh ball soup which was fantastic with the heirloom tomato BLT. The BLT had too much mayo for my liking, but besides that, it was pretty good. My fiance had the protein plate--can't go wrong with a plate of meats. The build your own bloody mary is always fun and tots as a side are a must.
Had the salmon Benedict + a table pancake — so good!
Loved Jones! Great ambiance, delicious food, personal attention from the manager. Fun choice for families but food that’s special enough for everyone. Loved the create your own Bloody Mary and the easy walk to the theaters.
Jones has a cool vibe. Waitstaff are very knowledgeable and attentive. Managers actually check in as well.
They were so gracious in seating us an hour ahead of our reservation- there was no traffic and we arrived from NJ far ahead of schedule- had my inlaws with us and so we could not really walk around for an hour. We were seated in a booth upstairs, which was nice and quiet, although very low seats compared to the table. Everyone love their food and the servers were attentive. Easy parking and access to downtown locations- would eat there again for sure.
It was great to dine at Jones again, after 5 years. I am from New York City and really looked forward to eating at your establishment again. The service, mood, food, and hospitality were all excellent. Thank You!

The food was good and the service was fine. I was a little annoyed that with the restaurant half empty they choose to sit my party of three at a table actually meant for two and on top of another party, making it a very cramped meal.
Really amazing food and ambiance! Shane was our server and was WONDERFUL!!! We had a great food(thanks to Shane's recommendations)lots of laughs and will ABSOLUTELY be going back!!!💚
Hi, I was in town to take my daughter to Eastern State Penn fright night for her birthday. She wanted to try Jones for her birthday dinner and it did not disappoint our waitress was Marjorie and she was phenominal. The food was delicious for my vegatarian daughter and her boyfriend. I had the steak and fries and it was really good but I asked about the fried chicken and they brought me out a piece and it was phenominal too. The manager asked how we were doing and the atmosphere was fantastic. Thank you!
Marjorie, our server, is a lovely, warm person who made us feel welcomed. We booked via Open Table while at the airport waiting for our flight from Seattle. How can one turn down a menu item called "Thanksgiving Dinner" or some devil eggs? Try it!
Our server was fantastic! She knew we were there for Happy Hour prices and made sure to stop by and make sure we were ok with drinks and food. I loved the atmosphere and every employee was friendly. I can't to go back soon!
Great food, amazing portion sizes, and good value. Took a date here and we both had an amazing time. The atmosphere inside is cool and while the tables are close, I never felt like we were sitting on top of each other. I highly recommend Jones!
Food and service was very good.
Always have a great experience at Jones. That’s why we eat there often.
We always eat here when we come to Philly. The food is great. Our server was wonderful and patient as we delayed ordering our main dishes since my son was late. She was funny and very accommodating. I don’t remember her name but it was Sunday evening and not crowded.
The food was very good. The staff was friendly, and the service was excellent. The only issue is the noise level. It seems like everyone has to speak very loud to be heard. I would still recommend to others, especially if they like an energetic atmosphere.
Service deserved a 10 star probably the best in town
We had a nice relaxing business lunch. Food was hot and tasty. Service was great.
Very good food and atmosphere, staff was excellent. Loved the chicken and waffles.
Performance for my daughter
Comfort food at its best!
