We are a food driven Pub on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and a go to place for catering, events, and parties. Our traditional British fare (The 'Fish and Chips' and 'Bangers and Mash' are a local favorite) and warm, inviting décor have been carefully thought out to portray a traditional British Pub. With an impressive beer list, we are one of only two places in Manhattan to be rewarded the official Cask Marque Certification for our attention to quality real Ale.
Our Garden opens in Spring & Summer. We look forward to serving you. Cheers!

Warm, comfortable, cozy, and delicious are just a few ways I can describe JWF. It was our first time here, but it won't be our last. Every bit of our brunch was tasty and satisfying. The sheppard's pie and waffle with fried chicken and scrambled eggs were amazing. Every dish that passed us by was something we also wanted to dig our forks in to. See you soon for the recommended mulled wine and spiced cider. It was a lovely way to celebrate an anniversary.

With NYC real estate so pricy, it's hard to find a thriving mid-range restaurant on the UES. Thankfully this place seems to have a loyal fanbase. It was quite full for a Monday night and the atmosphere was lively though not raucous.

Duck is the special here on Mondays and we both had that. It includes a half duck (enough for a second meal the following day), two veggies and a scrumptious glass of wine. Everything was SO good. Our server couldn't have been more charming (the entire staff is friendly) and we loved the cozy main room covered in British knickknacks. The garden was also open and that seemed a good seating option as well.

Fantastic food and great service. I would have no problem taking my friends from London or Ashbourne here for a faithful recreation of a English food. The beer selection is also fantastic. And don't skip dessert - the banoffee pie is out of this world.

Jones Wood Foundry is as if an English Pub has been transported across the pond and dropped into New York. The ambiance , food and particularly beer are all typically British. From the outside it looks small but be sure to enter and like good English pubs once in they become more interesting. It has a large dinning area and even an open area for outdoor eating. The food is superb you could be back in England and the staff are all really friendly. Shall defiantly have it on the list to return to on next visit to New York

This was our third time here and our second bringing friends because we loved the place so much, but honestly the service this time was really awful and we probably won't be back for awhile.

We had reservations and were seated promptly, then sat at our table for about 5 minutes and no server came by. At that 5 minute mark, a couple was seated next to us. 5 minutes later (so 10 minutes total since we had arrived), a server came...and walked right by us to help the couple who had arrived after us. Ok, this was not great, having sat there for awhile with no service, then having people who came in after us served first.

The server had a long conversation with them about the specials and so on, before she eventually made her way to us. And when she got to us she was kind of cold. Asked us for a drink order, didn't ask if we were ready to order food (which we were because we'd been sitting there for almost 15 minutes by this point) and then left.

When she did come back with the drinks she just asked us if we were ready to order food, but didn't tell us about the specials, I had to ask her to tell them. So what she was happily offering the people who came in after us with no prompting I had to request.

The whole meal was fine, service continued to be rather poor but nothing too exciting. We were at the restaurant celebrating with a friend from out of town but only had a single beer because our server rarely came to us during our meal.

At the end, we were done, the table was bussed and we were sitting there for ~15 minutes and our server was nowhere to be seen with the check. Eventually we had to ask some other server for the check because our server was apparently missing in action. The other server helped and our server was the one to bring the check back to us.

Overall it was just a really poor experience and I'm not sure what we did to merit it. We were cordial, kind, and had a full meal with dessert but were treated poorly. It will be awhile before I come back.

The food is always great as is the caring and deliberate service. It is a really nice restaurant and would be perfect if they were able to serve alcohol. I know the High School proximity prevents it but that sucks. It is a once a month place especially in the winter.

I booked this restaurant because it offers outdoor dining. From the picture I expected a garden setting. However the outdoor space is only a small inner courtyard which was stifling and airless in the current hot summer temperatures. Having said that the interior is like a cozy English pub and the food was excellent. The waiting staff were also friendly and efficient.
I will go back there in the winter but certainly not for an outdoor dining experience

Did not have good experience. The rotating cask ale was alright and the beer was lukewarm. The pulled pork burger was bland and needed more seasoning. The chips were good and the ambiance was nice. The waitress never checked in how we were doing and had to ask different servers twice regarding condiments and the check.

Nice ambience but food was meh...ales and appz were good - I had the whole branzino special (salty) with very little other flavor...and the sticky toffee dessert had an overabundance of ginger spice (the sauce and scoop of ice cream on the side were nice though) - the service was good...may give it another shot for brunch and have a full English breakfast!

Service was fine but a little slow. The food was good with decent wine options. The only low note was we went for the mussels special and disappointed there wasn't a Mussels a la Mariniere, but we obviously didn't check the special details closely. Will go back again nevertheless.

We'd been wanting to go here for a while. Was very happy to see a roast on the menu, and a full English breakfast. Decided on the roast in the end. Our food took quite a long time to arrive, and when it did, it was luke warm. One of our party sent hers back to be warmed up. The service had been mediocre from the start, but when the food was asked to be warmed up it deteriorated. Our waitress was very sullen and unfriendly, and everything seemed like an effort. At one point she actually almost threw the coffee cup onto the table. The air conditioning was blasting which meant that our already luke warm food got cold very quickly. Our waitress did not once ask us how our meal was, nor did she even offer to show us the dessert menu when we had finished our main courses. Disappointing to say the least after having read good reviews and looking forward to visiting. Perhaps we just caught them on a bad day, but unfortunately we will not be going back to give them another try.

We had an early diner - 6:45 pm with our 5 year old grandson. Although Jones Wood is not really a kid-friendly restaurant, we had a relatively quiet table in the back, which was perfect and we were able to find food to share that was suitable and really delicious. My grandson and I shared their famous fish and chips and my husband had the very tasty soft-shelled crab special. One of my favorite roses, Whispering Angel was also on the menu. A fine experience all around! This is a neighborhood favorite.

JWF is a great place for a low-key ,friendly get-together. Food is fairly expensive but frankly worth it. Fish and chips is very well done with light batter, not greasy, not heavy. The hanger steak was also delicious. So nice to have good food like this in the neighborhood. Cozy brick atmosphere in the back, vibrant pub scene in the front.

Service is a Skill and an Art

The English and French (at least in England and France) rival each other in reputation for table service. The French usually get stars for cuisine, the English, and I'd argue English-style pub/restaurants in America often top them with sterling and cheery service. JW has work to do on this front, but it can start by hiring servers with wait skills. These skills can boost or trash a restaurant's rep.

Our drinks waiter gets high marks.
The two kitchen bussers who tried to wait our table, however, shouldn't be allowed to serve tables until they've had basic training. (Clear first, bring food second.) Their ham-fisted shoving of plates and not-quite-English stabs at communication brought the evening to an unexpected low. If they'd been high or angry, it might have been funny. But they weren't and it wasn't.

Keep Calm and Try Again.

There was some chaos in the dining room and I have to say the staff reacted SUBLIMELY.
Amidst some odd wandering customers they handled everything beautifully and made me and my two buddies feel attended and taken care of.
The restaurant industry can provide some bad nights. These pros never let it show.
Terrific food. Terrific service. Cheers.
