Very nice ambiance, excellent service and very good food. Very enjoyable experience!
Great find on the UES! As close to an upscale pub in Mayfair that you’ll find in NYC. Solid food, attentive and knowledgeable staff and good British drink selections (but no hard liquor FYI). Can’t wait to come for brunch!
When we first arrived the room was quite chilly, and we were at the very back of the restaurant. The heat level did go up until right before we left there was a rush of cold air through the restaurant. I would dine with you again, with a extra sweater
Our lunch was delicious and the service was great. We look forward to going back and trying more items on the menu.
We sat outside and was very cozy with the heat lamps. Our food was delicious and the service was great. Our waitress was helpful and concerned about us being warm enough and even offered to move us inside if we got too cold. All was well though. It’s become my go to place in the neighborhood.
Very cozy place!
We've had thanksgiving dinner 3 years in a row now...the food is excellent. Turkey incredibly moist, delicious sides (brussel sprouts, stuffing, potatoes). Appetizer was tasty ravioli. Pumpkin pie was good, but portion was a little small. Bread was tasty, but serving was odd...one muffin sized corn bread type thing cut in half...one half for each person. Just thought that was an odd way to serve bread.
Price is what it is, $88 per person, plus tax, tip, drinks, so not cheap. But I thought the taste of the main meal was of high quality....best turkey i have ever had.
Dinner would have been better if you weren't playing rock and roll music during a Thanksgiving event. Holiday music, traditional music would have been much nicer for the amount of money that I had spent with my family but listening to eighties music while trying to have a nice beautiful respectful Thanksgiving dinner with family was unacceptable.
When you spend 500 dollars, you expect a wonderful event and not feel like you are in a bar.
Also, charging a 9yr old and a 12 yr old 88 dollars each was extremely tacky.
Our overall dining experience was excellent. It was easy to make a reservation. The ambience of the restaurant cheerful pleasant quite lovely. We were warmly greeted upon. entering and the wait staff was extraordinary. Service was quite prompt and the food was excellent. The restaurant was very comfortable end it was quiet so that we could enjoy yourselves in a very pleasant atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Prices were a bit high but it was Thanksgiving day so that is to be expected.
It took 40 minutes to get the appetizer. The food was delicious!
My daughter and I had Thanksgiving brunch here and sat in the outdoor tented & heated area. The prix fixe menu was just like what Mom would’ve cooked and a good value.
After living in NYC for 20 years I had left for CT & wanted a quintessential edgy NYC “local” place and JWF was all this.
Very friendly staff, and pub atmosphere indoors. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to feel like a local!
Our server was very rude. She yelled at us when we went to order off the regular menu. We were not aware it was prix fixe only. She yelled at us and said she had explained that when we sat down. None of us in our party heard her say that. It was fine to have just the prix fixe but we were very put off by her manner. And when my daughter ordered a drink she replied “Are you OLD enough to have a drink?” in a very rude way. My daughter was very upset by it and embarrassed. She had her id ready but the waitress was very unprofessional about it. The waitress should have just asked to see her id and not made a rude comment. Overall this was an awful experience to have on Thanksgiving day; a bad memory.
Outstanding on all counts---service was OTC--off the charts--very friendly and professional staff--food was superb--ambiance was superb---can't go wrong with Jones Wood.
From the moment they opened the door, everyone was so kind, helpful, and lovely. The space itself was beautiful. The food was AMAZING! And the we appreciated the music! 60s and 70s hits? Yes, PLEASE!!
It was my first thanksgiving going to a restaurant and I believe this is one of my favorite Thanksgivings.
Always one of the best burgers on UES - great food and outstanding service on a consistent basis.
I went to Jones Wood Foundry for the second time in two months, and had another amazing lunch. My parsnip soup, salad and cod sandwich were all just delicious. And I decided to try the banoffee pie this time - and it was nothing short of heavenly. One of the best desserts that I've ever had! My server James was wonderful...and the manager Steven was so kind to check in on me and make sure that everything was good. This really is such a special restaurant. I can't wait to go back for that banoffee pie!
I’ve always wanted to eat at Jones Wood Foundry and the experience didn’t disappoint. Great atmosphere, ate in the back patio which is covered but the dining room is located in a very cool space. Excellent friendly service. Food was incredible: foie gras parfait, chicken leek & truffle pie, braised short ribs and the excellent sticky toffee pudding to finish. Very British experience. Can’t wait to return.
We were a bit worried with the mixed reviews, but absolutely loved this place. We went for brunch and ordered the Shepherd’s pie which was delicious, chips and the Sunday roast. Food was amazing, came out hot and delicious. Service was good, we sat at the bar so we were checked on less frequently but that was fine. Only negative I’d say is that the hostess seemed a bit irritated, other than that everything was great. Would definitely go back!
Been back after several years
Very enjoyable brunch
Will be back for dinner
Everything was excellent! Service was amazing and the outdoor patio was perfect!!
I really want to like this place. This was my third trip. The full English breakfast wasn’t “full” (no black pudding), which they should have disclosed when we ordered it. We nearly had to trip the wait staff to get them to fill our coffee cups. Otherwise, the eggs Benedict went down well (with a slosh of Boddington). I’ll be back, but I’ll be more attentive about service and menu promises.
Worst service and management in NYC definitely will never return
Classic English Pub. Great fish and chips and shepards pie. OK beer selection but no spirits as they are located next to a school.
Absolutely terrible - Our waitress found a way to answer simple questions with a smug remark. Our table attempted to start finding ways to interact with her as cleanly and simply as possible. When I got asked what drink I wanted to start with, I answered, "A margarita". Even that got a snarky response about how there are different different types of margarita. When I got it it was the worst drink of my life, such that I couldn't help but consider the possibility the server who seemed to be in a terrible mood had dome something to it.
Fries were acceptable bar fries. Ambience is wonderful. One of the few quiet places on the UES.
Great crowd, great vibe & nicest staff you've ever met. Food is solid (rarebit great, fries less so), value is excellent and guaranteed your large group will have a blast.
The enforcement of proof of vaccination was inconsistent
Fish and chips was not good - fish was mushy in the inside and batter was soggy.
Our second dinner with Nathan serving us. What a pleasure.
Good food. Good service
Tables nicely separated.
I love Jones Wood, and go there often just for drinks. But their dining hours are not very clear, and we made a booking for 4pm, but the kitchen wasn’t open until 5pm. We were fine as we were not in a rush, and had a great meal. But it would be good to update reservation slots.
Was literally the worst Dino g experience snd food I have eaten in my 21 years of living in NY.dry. Flavorless. Overcooked. Undercooked .
James our waiter was excellent and attentive. Being English I was very excited to see that that had roast beef lunch on the menu. The food did not disappoint. Might I suggest for the Sunday roast you bring an extra jug of gravy to the table as us Brits love our gravy!!
We had a reservation for 1:30pm, and ordered immediately. Our appetizers came quickly, but our entrees did not come until 3pm. The wait was ridiculous, and our waitress gave a slight “I’m sorry for the wait” with no explanation. Very disappointing.
The service was just poor. It took forever for our food to come and we had to ask/remind the waiter for it. My dad's entree had clearly been sitting at the kitchen for a while because his sandwich was cold. Everyone else at my table got their entree but I had to wait 20 minutes extra for mine and it was AWFUL (chicken and waffles - undercooked waffles, crappy chicken). Avocado toast wasn't very good. Eggs benedict were ok. The only things that were good were the popovers and the french fries. We were seriously underwhelmed with the whole experience.
Sat us based on our reservation time. Food was very good.
A good hearty meal at a cool no-attitude spot with an excellent friendly service and great drink menu.
Great authentic british food and drink and a lovely pub vibe!
A quiet English style pub atmosphere. Good for meeting for drinks and food
Epitome of pub comfort food. Super wait staff and very high quality--not for vegans or health nuts. Would recommend fish and chips highly--got and not the least bit greasy.
Horrible service , horrible table, food poor quality. That will be a one time visit
