This place is a gem. Always great food and service. Look forward to returning again and again.
Our waiter, Nathan, was excellent and made our dining experience memorable. He was well versed on the menu, made excellent recommendations and truly enjoyed his position. Our meal was diverse, served on time and a good time was had by all. The menu was diverse snd had something for everyone in our party of 6!
We are outside so we didn’t get to evaluate the indoor experience!!
It's good value, service was efficient and friendly. Food and mood was good, can't think of a way of adding wood into the review to make it food, good, mood, wood.
Host gave attitude when I approached to tell him that we had arrived for our reservation. Service was quite disorganized. Food was fine, but way too expensive for brunch this time. Their Covid-pricing is a bit excessive for what type food it is.
First time visit. Great food . Excellent Service. Cant wait to go back and try something different.
awesome food in beautiful building! service was wonderful, super friendly.
A lunch earlier in the week was ideal - tuna tartare excellent, music level low. Last night's dinner less relaxing - music/sports news volume a bit high, service polite but rushed, and a highly anticipated sticky toffee dessert tasted more like gingerbread. Seating area choice makes a difference - it's great that JWF offers several options inside and out.
Always good food. Bangers and mash were a little salty this time around
Outdoor dining was outstanding
Friendly attentive staff
Service was exceptional
Good food, people, and vibe. Amazing for a mellow evening with buddies or just by yourself :)
We had great burgers and an amazing brownie, seated outside... even though it was in the 90s we were shaded and there was a fan so it was fairly comfortable. It’s nice that it’s on a quiet side street rather than directly on an avenue. Only wish was for more beverage choices beyond wine & beer. Will return!
Went for the England soccer match, and it was a ton of fun! Service was great!
Watching the Euro Cup Finale!
I had the Shepards Pie for about the fifth time here, and it was as good as was the previous times, which shows consistency. For dessert I had the Sticky Toffee Pudding which was served with Vanilla Ice Cream and Caramel Sauce instead of Toffee Sauce. I would have preferred Toffee Sauce, but the pudding was good. The Vanilla Ice Cream was virtually tasteless, so I would recommend choosing a different flavor.
Jones Wood is a favorite of ours! The beer selection is obviously fantastic, but the wines are just as great. And the food is always tasty. Ricotta toast is a must. Can never decide between the bangers and mash or fish and chips because they are just too good! If that isn't enough, the atmosphere is splendid. Fun and friendly at the bar, but quiet and casual in the dining area.
I haven't been at the Foundry since before the lockdown and I loved being back there. Truly memorable experience!
Always love Jones Wood!
Beef was tough but server was willing to replace it.
Always excellent and happy staff!
I have had their Shepards Pie here many times and have always enjoyed it. One day this weeks I had the Cottage Pie and found it to be delicious, so much so that I went back the next day to have it again. On that day there was a night and day difference. The Cottage Pie that had so much flavor on my first experience with it was virtually flavorless.
Good was very good British fare done very well desert were scrumptious drinks well made and some nice selections there as well staff friendly
I have been coming here for several years, as it’s one of the better British gastro pubs on the upper east side and usually serves old speckled hen (I am British, hard to find that beer in NYC). The past two times I have been here, in January and then online Sunday we’re not so good. We came for Father’s Day lunch, the first table we were offered inside was covered in flies, therefore we asked to be moved outside and the staff accommodated us by providing an outdoor table after a 15 minute wait. Ordered our food, grilled cheese, toast with pate a Yorkshire pudding and fish n chips which took over an hour to arrive and other diners who came after us got their food before us….Waitress was apologetic, apparently there was a problem in the kitchen and gave desert for free. Food was very good however waiting so long was annoying, particularly as the food was relatively straight forward. We’ve been to high end restaurants in NYC that are a lot quicker than this. Also, several beers on the beer menu were also unavailable on Sunday, was told they get the deliveries on Monday.
Loved this place. Nice decor. Great wine/beer list. Food was great. Liked the food pictures; helped us to order. Friendly and efficient service. Can’t wait to return
Great food great service great ambiance
Normally I love this place but they just seemed to not have enough servers. We finished our dinner and it took 30 mins to finally get some attention from the server. Reservations were at 530 and we did not leave until shortly after 8.
nice beer selection and authentic British pub fare. Highly recommended if you like either.
Wonderful menu with an excellent variety. Food is always delicious. Service is excllent. Outdoor dining is spacious and comfortable.
We love this place but when we were forced to cancel our 11:30 reservation and returned later(1:45) the hostess dismissed us saying there were no tables until after 3. I promptly went on open table and made a reservation for 2:15, walked back in and was seated by another hostess. I wish she had at least looked or asked us to make a reservation instead of turning us away.
If I lived in NYC I would be a regular- everything was wonderful- including the desserts we took to go! Nathan was a fantastic waiter after a early afternoon wedding held on site!!
It was mediocre at best. The service was terrible, the English breakfast was disappointing. I did enjoy the toffee pudding. I do not plan to return.
A fantastic experience all around. Great food (we had the chicken and leek pie and the special lamb and rosemary pie and both were fantastic) and great beer. Service was attentive. Great atmosphere and despite the place being pretty full, the noise level was very low.
Food was very bland
Terrific all around
Also a good choice!!!
Might be time for them to add a few new items to the menu!
Food was excellent. Best British fare around. Service was excellent. Love this place. One caveat -- way too loud -- they need to address the acoustics and then this place would be perfection.
The huevos rancheros entrée was fresh and tasty. The ricotta cheese appetizer was sweet salty creamy with a mysterious delicate crunch- unique and heavenly! Service was friendly and attentive yet gave us the space we needed to converse. Refilled the water without having to ask. Exceeded expectations- I would gladly return!
I really like Jones Wood, and it’s still a great place to hang out for expats. But ... The margaritas were bad. The sticky toffee pudding is far too sweet, and isn’t a traditional sticky toffee pudding (just an FYI-it’s quite different, and very spiced!)
The bangers and mash and shepherd’s pie were quite good.
A great escape to England during this pandemic and the Scotch eggs were amazing. I highly recommend this place.
Wonderful restaurant excellent food terrific service an A+ experience!
