For an entree, I had a delicious grilled lamb on flat bread that I can highly recommend. The courtyard garden is attractive and the service was exceptional. Our waiter was very responsive and attentive.
We just love this place! And it was our first time out to dinner during COVID and it exceeded expectations 😊
Thank you for trying your best to serve the community! Food is, as usual, great. Clear partitions were installed in the garden so that all tables felt safe and socially distant. Staff were masked at all times.
Jones Wood Foundry was a perfect place to celebrate our first time out in three months (because of the pandemic)!!!!
Always a wonderful experience and truly delicious food!
fun place for beers. food not so great, at least what we had--fish and chips bland, shepherd's pie mostly mashed potatoes. However, the French onion soup was good, and the dessert, banoffee pie, was yummy. I recommend only for beers and ambience. Also, service pretty slow.
Great, very tasty English food and English beer on tap - can't go wrong!
Service was good also.
A good casual spot to meet up with th friends, pubby in feel. Wait service is friendly. Food is okay but not great, and the desserts are very heavy and lead-like. Couldn’t even cut the thick, impenetrable crust on mine without fear it would go flying across the table and hit my dinner companion. My friends dessert was way too sweet and she couldn’t eat it.
Came to Jones Wood Foundry for brunch with my boyfriend and his parents. Staff was polite and the food was tasty. We ordered a pitcher of bloody mary's and 4 different brunch plates. Best part about the dining experience was that the parents were super pleased with everything the restaurant had to offer (food, environment, staff) and said they wanted to come again when the garden opened up.
Food was very good, lamb shank vindaloo was excellemt. Nice selection of wines! Service and Staff were great!
The fish and chips was excellent, as was the Orkney dark
Always great! Super burgers, great British pub food! True neighborhood treasure!
Great beer selection including cask friendly staff and creative menu. Great value for NYC 🗽
Warm, comfortable, cozy, and delicious are just a few ways I can describe JWF. It was our first time here, but it won't be our last. Every bit of our brunch was tasty and satisfying. The sheppard's pie and waffle with fried chicken and scrambled eggs were amazing. Every dish that passed us by was something we also wanted to dig our forks in to. See you soon for the recommended mulled wine and spiced cider. It was a lovely way to celebrate an anniversary.
Delicious butternut squash soup, fish and chips and chocolate mousse!
Good casual neighborhood eatery. I wish there was a selection on pentacle to book the garden for a table.
With NYC real estate so pricy, it's hard to find a thriving mid-range restaurant on the UES. Thankfully this place seems to have a loyal fanbase. It was quite full for a Monday night and the atmosphere was lively though not raucous.
Duck is the special here on Mondays and we both had that. It includes a half duck (enough for a second meal the following day), two veggies and a scrumptious glass of wine. Everything was SO good. Our server couldn't have been more charming (the entire staff is friendly) and we loved the cozy main room covered in British knickknacks. The garden was also open and that seemed a good seating option as well.
Love this place food always consistently very good and the speckled hen on draft is beyond delicious
Should really add a vegetarian option to the menu. A good veggie burger would be loved
Fantastic food and great service. I would have no problem taking my friends from London or Ashbourne here for a faithful recreation of a English food. The beer selection is also fantastic. And don't skip dessert - the banoffee pie is out of this world.
Jones Wood Foundry is as if an English Pub has been transported across the pond and dropped into New York. The ambiance , food and particularly beer are all typically British. From the outside it looks small but be sure to enter and like good English pubs once in they become more interesting. It has a large dinning area and even an open area for outdoor eating. The food is superb you could be back in England and the staff are all really friendly. Shall defiantly have it on the list to return to on next visit to New York
We sat in the outside garden area and it was magical! The fish n' chips were to die for! Great experience!
This was our third time here and our second bringing friends because we loved the place so much, but honestly the service this time was really awful and we probably won't be back for awhile.
We had reservations and were seated promptly, then sat at our table for about 5 minutes and no server came by. At that 5 minute mark, a couple was seated next to us. 5 minutes later (so 10 minutes total since we had arrived), a server came...and walked right by us to help the couple who had arrived after us. Ok, this was not great, having sat there for awhile with no service, then having people who came in after us served first.
The server had a long conversation with them about the specials and so on, before she eventually made her way to us. And when she got to us she was kind of cold. Asked us for a drink order, didn't ask if we were ready to order food (which we were because we'd been sitting there for almost 15 minutes by this point) and then left.
When she did come back with the drinks she just asked us if we were ready to order food, but didn't tell us about the specials, I had to ask her to tell them. So what she was happily offering the people who came in after us with no prompting I had to request.
The whole meal was fine, service continued to be rather poor but nothing too exciting. We were at the restaurant celebrating with a friend from out of town but only had a single beer because our server rarely came to us during our meal.
At the end, we were done, the table was bussed and we were sitting there for ~15 minutes and our server was nowhere to be seen with the check. Eventually we had to ask some other server for the check because our server was apparently missing in action. The other server helped and our server was the one to bring the check back to us.
Overall it was just a really poor experience and I'm not sure what we did to merit it. We were cordial, kind, and had a full meal with dessert but were treated poorly. It will be awhile before I come back.
The food is always great as is the caring and deliberate service. It is a really nice restaurant and would be perfect if they were able to serve alcohol. I know the High School proximity prevents it but that sucks. It is a once a month place especially in the winter.
I booked this restaurant because it offers outdoor dining. From the picture I expected a garden setting. However the outdoor space is only a small inner courtyard which was stifling and airless in the current hot summer temperatures. Having said that the interior is like a cozy English pub and the food was excellent. The waiting staff were also friendly and efficient.
I will go back there in the winter but certainly not for an outdoor dining experience
First time have British dining, like scotch egg, and spotted crab which are impressive, the must try traditional starter.
I had a chance to spend a great evening catching up with old friends. The pints kept coming and the food was delicious!
Great spot both menu selections and a really cool restaurant besides. I've loved it the 2x I've been there and wouldn't hesitate to return.
Always good, it's always a mini trip to the U.K. As it feels like a real British pub. Food is great and the back dining room is cozy.
Good, authentic Gastro pub food.
Would like more selections!
Generally wonderful staff.
Always reliable....very hidden gem....pot pie a real winner. Had the mussels for the first time....loved'em.
great little spot on the upper East side
We were so pleased by our dinner experience. We had a large group of people and we felt very welcomed, food was amazing, good selection of wine! Friendly staff and great atmosphere! Special thanks to manager Janise for organizing perfect table and being so accommodating!
Love the outdoor patio, quite, nice with kids. The food and wine were delicious and a nice menu selection sandwiches, burgers, fish, steaks and more.
Good neighborhood pub with decent food and lots if interesting beers and ciders. Nice friendly atmosphere. Some if the attempts at creative cuisine, like grilled watermelon, don't work
Did not have good experience. The rotating cask ale was alright and the beer was lukewarm. The pulled pork burger was bland and needed more seasoning. The chips were good and the ambiance was nice. The waitress never checked in how we were doing and had to ask different servers twice regarding condiments and the check.
Absolutely delicious and great value for money. Highly recommend!
Love love love this place. The best go to for a fresh salad to start and shepherds pie accompanied by a cider or beer on tap!
Nice ambience but food was meh...ales and appz were good - I had the whole branzino special (salty) with very little other flavor...and the sticky toffee dessert had an overabundance of ginger spice (the sauce and scoop of ice cream on the side were nice though) - the service was good...may give it another shot for brunch and have a full English breakfast!
Service was fine but a little slow. The food was good with decent wine options. The only low note was we went for the mussels special and disappointed there wasn't a Mussels a la Mariniere, but we obviously didn't check the special details closely. Will go back again nevertheless.
