The service was impeccable and the food was delicious!
Food was excellent as usual. Whenever we visit Maine we make sure to dine there
The food was good, but not great.
Service was attentive.
Excellent service by Clyde and other staff members.
We had a nice evening before the show. Food was great and timely.
We went there with clients who had just purchased a house in the area and it could not have been better. Paul, our lovely waiter was just perfect. Great personality and attentive as well. From the starting cocktail, through dinner and a nightcap, everything was perfect. Highly recommend!
Menu on Open Table listed items that were not available at the restaurant. Dining companion had very limited palate. The waiter accommodated his requests for substitutions without question. Wait staff looked “frazzled “... busy but did not appear overly so as there was no wait. Nice presentation overall.
Our family dined for the first time at Jonathan's a week ago. By all accounts we were incredibly happy with the service, food and attention to detail. We were so impressed we returned this past weekend with friends (we have a summer home in Wells). Our experience was a stark contrast from the first. We were seated at a round table in the middle of the room with skylights overlooking the garden. The room was so loud we couldn't have any conversation across the table thru the entire dining experience, especially when the band started playing in the lounge (with no wall to separate the rooms). We had a table of 4 behind us that was so loud people began staring (which didn't help). The waiter was extremely rushed (totally short staffed obviously - again this was not the case at our first visit). My husband ordered the haddock dinner and received the salmon. We didn't want to complain as we had waited endlessly for our entree as well as refills on beverages and simple requests for additional bread and salad dressing. We won't be back - unfortunately.
Jonathan's was a fine dining experience. The presentation was perfect!
My wife an I split the Baked Artichoke Hearts. Very special!
We had Jonathan's Local Demi Salad. Perfect!
My wife had the Gulf of Maine Scallops. Excellent!
I had the Seafood Stuffed North Atlantic Haddock. Excellent!
Our server, Paul, was the best!
Paul was very attentive, friendly, full of fun, kind, pleasant, and very informative. Just a great person!
Thank you for our wonderful 56th wedding anniversary dinner!
The food was great and service excellent. We like this place as they are very consistent in their quality. It is always very good.
People are happy working there.
I had a lovely time, the meal was excellent, the wait staff was superb. We will definitely be back.
A good place for dinner before going to the Ogunquit Playhouse. Very nice ambiance. Food was good, but not excellent. Service was sometimes slow, which may have been more of a kitchen problem than the wait staff.
The food was excellent and we returned the next evening for another delicious delicious dinner!
As I Posted on Google reviews, this is a nice restaurant with expensive menu and with high expectations, the appetizer was just fine, great in fact. The drinks were phenomenal, but the entrees and their presentation was lackluster. The entrees were a little bit overpriced and throwing a corn on the cob for baked stuffed lobsteror a side was not a good match, it didn't meet expectations or match the the menu item or the value of the meal. And also trying to nickel and dime you for paying few dollars for a refill on bread that was cheap rolls from the store was a bit much. Also what $40 entree items, one would expect more creative dessert options, the coffee was excellent, however. The wait staff was fairly decent, but did not understand upselling a lobster tail for the market value price, which should be common knowledge.
Very noisy in room next to bar. Moved to another room that was so hot it was uncomfortable. We were told the AC was broken in that room.Service was terrible and we barely saw our waiter.
Three of us had baked stuff haddock. Fish was not cooked through. The tomato eggplant gratin was sliced so thin it was mushy.
Felt as if everyone was in training. Will not be going back.
Overpriced and did not live up to its reputation.
Great place to go for dinner before going to the Ogunquit Playhouse. Service was prompt, food was great. Well worth it.
There are some very good things about this restaurant, which we have enjoyed for many years. On this occasion we were welcomed very nicely and turned over to a server who was extremely helpful. Drinks were made and served in a timely manner. My calamari appetizer was very good, though not brilliant for the price. My wife schnitzel was very good...it brought out a little of German in her. My disappointment was the scallops plate, which came out at a hefty $30 price. Though a good portion of scallops (a local restaurant where I live serves far more for half the price) the taste was rather dull and bland. Some bits of breading and garlic. Nothing to write home about. The only accompaniment were a very few stalks of asparagus. No rice, polenta, or anything else. Hmmmm. One good thing about the restaurant I would add is its consideration of people with disabilities. I have an occasional mobility problem and am sensitive to this issue. Jonathan's had good parking and a very well designed ramp. The town of Ogunquit could use more of this....given several restaurants are it utter and complete disregard of ADA accessibility regulations.
We love Jonathans. Everything is so fresh and tasty. The service was great, our salmon delicious and the atmosphere wonderful for an early evening dinner. The vegetables are creative and grown by the owner.
I’ve been going to this restaurant for years!!! I absolutely love it here! Food is amazing always fantastic and staff is friendly. I truly look forward to coming every time I’m up here.
scallops were world class - after dinner dessert and coffee in the upstairs theater were followed by a very entertaining performance that topped of the evening-
Outstanding service and quality food prepared beautifully. Everything about our dining experience was exceptional. We will definitely be going back in the future.
Lovely dinner before Smokey Joes Cafe! The Elderberry Martini was wonderful, chicken piccata - terrific , and Scallops cooked the way I like them! Asparagus was excellent, too! Always a pleasure to have dinner at Jonathans😘👏😀
The ONLY place we bring family from out of state to impress them!
I'm the kind of no-goodnik who rarely writes to commend a fine place but becomes sufficiently agitated two or three times a year to share an opinion. On impulse we decided to take a 2-3 day hop to Ogunquit, a quaint-but-touristic village on the rocky Maine coast.
Jonathan's is near the hotel. Hostess could not have been more welcoming. That was the high point. I asked our waiter to describe one of the specials - Blackened Swordfish with a French sounding-sauce with some connection to lobster. He couldn't. Shrugged his shoulders. After a few seconds I politely asked him to ask the Chef.
He nodded and left. After about 12-15 minutes later he said it was 'a brown sauce.' Most places overcook swordfish so I deemed it prudent to order it with the mystery sauce and the 'smashed potatoes.'.
A bit later dinner arrived. My wife's salmon was terrific but accompanied by flavorless, over boiled vegetables. My swordfish was not the special, rather the standard menu item, fish with salsa atop.
My choice: send it back, wait 45 minutes, watch my wife dine alone, waste food and sit there doing a slow burn or just eat it and shut up, which I did. The thicker side of the filet was succulent, the thinner half undistinguishable from over-cooked chicken breast. The salsa was weak--no excitement whatsoever. The potatoes, presumably not the smashed variety were devoid of seasoning--a pure starch blast
What became of the waiter you ask? Never saw him until he dropped off the check. The food was served by some nice women who also poured water and brought the bread.
In sum, the only memorable aspect to this meal was the waiter's indifference to his two victims. What is clear to me as I think of how the food looked and tasted and was served--what strikes me as irrefutable as it is sad is this. This kitchen takes absolutely no pride in what it dishes out. -
Food is always very good. Drinks are also good and reasonably priced. Although it was very busy and tables were filling up fast, the wait staff worked well together to provide excellent service.
The food is always amazing. The shows are great. Our compliments to the chef for the presentation of the food. A relaxed atmosphere and good service!!
This was dinner celebration for my beautiful wife of 39 years and I was searching for a really romantic place ! I was not disappointed here at Johnathans ! Great food, awesome service, Paul the classically trained host made it a point to make this a truly memorable evening for us both .
The Monday night specials were well priced and good.
I ordered prime rib, medium-rare and got lots of fat (and got a cut that was tough to eat). My brother got prime rib, well done and his cut was very tender. My mother got Fried Haddock and said it was very fresh and tasty.
Overall, a GREAT night.
3 generations of family for Mothers Day. There was something for every child and every adult.pleasant staff.
I ordered scallops and asked them to hold the bread crumbs, and I’m glad I did that. Sweet and succulent. The waiter was great and we never felt ignored. Parking!! This place as ample space. We will be going back.
Everything about the night was incredible! All the waitstaff was super polite and attentive. Food was delicious and they were gladly willing to accommodate some substitutions. We were celebrating an anniversary and they had the saxophone player come over to our table and play a song. It was a great surprise! Looking forward to coming back again soon.
One of the best haddock dishes I have ever eaten, and I love haddock. Attentive service. My friend had an excellent New York strip cooked exactly as she asked.
Kind of expensive for what you get portions are small if you get extra bread they charge you 3$
We've eaten at Jonathan's many times. In addition to good food and an interesting menu, I find that Jonathan's is very accommodating. Whether you're going for a dinner for two, or for dinner with a extended family with small children, they can handle it easily. We all enjoyed our meals, including the kids!
Wonderful!! Food and service were excellent!!
We drtove to Jonathans Ogunqit Maine to see Ronnie Earl and the Brodcasters, but before we had a very nice meal downstairs (scallops) which were fantastic. They have a very nice menu. Ronnie Earl was upstairs maybe 200 people, awesum show. They have shows spring to fall. Good Time
having just recently moved to Maine, this was my wife and I's first date in Maine. I picked Jonathan's based on other reviews and comments. We were not disappointed. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated promptly at a nice table.
Ray was our server -- he was great. Went over the menu and daily specials as you would expect. He did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed and made a point to check back with us as the evening progressed.
Food was very good. I had the steak -- which for one of the rare occasions was cooked perfectly at medium well. The steak was very tasty as were the mash potatoes. My wife opted for soup and salad -- both of which she enjoyed thoroughly.
Dessert was their Apple Crisp with Maine Ice Cream. It was a great way to end our evening at Jonathan's.
I highly recommend them -- and we will be returning in the near future.
Great food, great service (very attentive without being all over us.). Table overlooking the garden was a nice touch.
This was my first time dining at Jonathan's and I was not disappointed. The service was great as well as the food. Creative menu items. I had the Mushroom Pappardelle and my friend had the salmon and both were delicious! I would definitely go back!
I have been to this restaurant before and it has been very good. However on Easter Sunday dinner it was a different story. Our service was not very good. We had three different waiters who appeared to be very disconnected from one another. It took a very long time to even get a glass of wine. Overall the food was just Ok
