Great food, great service (very attentive without being all over us.). Table overlooking the garden was a nice touch.
This was my first time dining at Jonathan's and I was not disappointed. The service was great as well as the food. Creative menu items. I had the Mushroom Pappardelle and my friend had the salmon and both were delicious! I would definitely go back!
I have been to this restaurant before and it has been very good. However on Easter Sunday dinner it was a different story. Our service was not very good. We had three different waiters who appeared to be very disconnected from one another. It took a very long time to even get a glass of wine. Overall the food was just Ok
My family & I loved our first visit to Jonathan's this weekend for Easter Brunch. We will look forward to another visit next time we get to Ogunquit.
Easter brunch
This was one of the most delicious dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. The food presentation was a 10. The taste was a 10, the staff was a 10. The service was a 10. A most wonderful experience. Thank you!
We had heard very good things about Jonathan's and decided Easter Brunch would be our first visit. I have to say we were not disappointed. The food was a big hit especially for a family with a picky eater. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Easter brunch was lovely
My husband and I go to Ogunquit for Valentine's Weekend every year. We always go to Jonathan's for our dinner. It is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is delicious and it is such a cozy place.
Went for Valentine annivesary... tried new apps, drinks....seafood stuffed cod and the steak were perfect! Didnt do dessert as we were too full. Awesome blueberry butter for the rolls so delicious! Definitely recommend... enjoy!
Wonderful place to dine. Server was amazing, friendly, personable and most of all never once rushed us. Jonathan's is a great place to eat with a nice variety to select from. Drinks are wonderful and not watered down.
Every visit is a good experience. Staff really knows how to make us welcome and satisfied
Scallops, spinach, green beans were yummy. The brown bread and rolls with soft blueberry butter was awesome. Excellent service. Lovely wine list.
Very Good food, service was excellent and friendly. Went for a show upstairs as well. show was great, and people up there were very nice.
Our waiter was knowledgeable and very friendly and accommodated one of our guests dietary needs. Myself and another guest got the schnitzel and it was delicious. Served with tasty potatoes and shredded beets, the combination was amazing! The warmed bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped the dinner off and was so surprisingly yummy. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family. I found you from the Inn Keeper at The Blue Shutters Inn in Ogunquit.
Great dinner prior to Christmas concert in the events hall upstairs. She had chicken special and I had home-made lamb sausage from Jonathan's farm. Both were excellent. Concert was terrific.
Pre-show dinner. We both had the salmon which was well prepared with an delicious glaze or sauce. Very knowledgeable server and server assistant. A very enjoyable dinner.
We were here to see Paula Poundstone, and had a fabulous meal! We enjoyed an artichoke appetizer and the bread with special blueberry butter was yummy. For dinner, we had the New Tor Steak with garlic butter and the Salmon. both were well prepared. I would highly recommend a dinner and show!
Great place before the show upstairs. I would recommend it for dinner and a show only. The specialty coffee we ordered was cold but the value with a show was definitely spot on and would not complain. We will definitely return if there is a performer again that we would like to see.
Lovely dinner with family for a special event prior to seeing Paula Poundstone upstairs.
Food was excellent. We all cleaned our plates.
Music started out nice...holiday background music...perfect for allowing dinner conversation.
Music changed 1/2 way through dinner to a louder jazzy style....we were all but yelling at each other while conversing. All four of us commented on it. Ended up going upstairs early so we could finish our conversation in a quieter area. Service was excellent, staff quite friendly and professional.
overpriced, especially the drinks, limited menu; the waiter was very helpful (Charles); weak drinks;
I was in Ogunquit for a mother/daughter weekend and read good reviews about Jonathan's online. We had a reservation and were seated only after waiting a few minutes. We were seated right inside the dining room next to where the waitstaff hung out which was a little odd as there were plenty of other nicer open tables available. We could have said something but if I am going to review a restaurant I will review it for what it is and not what my complaints get me. When our waitress came over she immediately asked us what we wanted to drink. No greeting or introduction which felt very impersonal. Food was just okay. Nothing very impressive. Started with a Caesar Salad and then had the filet. Both were fine. First martini was nice but the Oreo dessert martini did not taste like an Oreo and was sickly sweet. I left most of it. Overall the place felt dated, the food was sub par and there was nothing to sing about, including the service.
Food was very tasty, but extremely disappointed in the serving size based on the the high price!
Jonathan's has been a favorite of ours for a few years now. We always dine here when visiting Ogunquit.
Thanksgiving
We came to Jonathan’s for our Thanksgiving dinner. Thought the homemade pickles were a nice touch.
Great atmosphere and comfortable. The service was a little slow and the waiter was not as attentive as I would expect. Our bread never came and refills on drinks were slow. The clam chowders were delicious and the steak was nicely flavored. I would return but the meal was a little pricey for the overall experience.
Our second time for Thanksgiving dinner with the family. It's fast becoming an annual tradition! Everyone loved their dinner selections from the turkey dinner option to the trio combo of turkey, lamb and pork. We love that it's made to order and not a buffet. We look forward to next year!
Thanksgiving dinner always lovely here. Very nice atmosphere. Great service. Love seeing Jonathan himself right there working and enjoying his guests.
My wife’s turkey dinner was delicious. My stuffed haddock also was delicious. The payoff was the apple crisp which was outstanding. Jonathan and his wife stopped by our table and showed us the apple trees in the front of the building where the apples came from. Staff and owners were very friendly.
Over priced not enough food for the money left still hungry went fir thanksgiving
Thanksgiving dinner for our party of 8 was enjoyed by all! We had a room to ourselves which made conversation for the older folks much easier. The food was delicious and our servers were right on top of everything.
Restrooms need some work, but otherwise everything was great!
Perfect as usual. Jonathan's gets it right, great food ,great service and a great show. They make you feel at home.
Simple but good menu. Lovely environment. Dined overlooking the gardens.
We have been going to Jonathan's for 30 years. It has always been great. We just attended a concert and medium in the past month. Nice evening out with entertainment and dinner.
We celebrated our anniversary at Jonathan's and could not have asked for a better romantic date. We mentioned on Open Table and when we arrived the host wished us happy anniversary. The dinning room was very quiet and we had a table by the window. Our food was farm fresh and perfectly seasoned and executed in every course. Lobster was on their special list and we both chose that and it may have been the most tender delicious lobster we have ever eaten. Our waiter was extremely pleasant and even walked us to the back to see their fish tank and the back sculpture in the back garden. If we return to this area of of Maine we will definitely revisit Jonathan's.
The service is wonderful and the food is delicious. Small portions and a bit on the pricey side. Nice play to go before heading over to the Playhouse . Staff is wonderful !
The lamb shank is really good here. We sat down at 5:30 pm and the kitchen was out of them. Sadly ordered a steak, only to find out that there’s no rice in the restaurant. Seriously dudes ... you can’t keep a $0.99 packet of ready-to-go in 90 seconds rice in the house?
Two of the people at our table of four were then told, sorry, but we’re out of Tenderloin Steak. This is the evening of a ticketed event. You know how many people are coming. Could you be prepared? The self evident answer is that the restaurant has no customer focus.
This is the second event I’ve attended with the same experience, so I guess this is what is to be expected.
To their credit, the staff did remain in good humor while their management was berated for general incompetence.
Lastly, and further evidence of complete disregard for guests, was the very pleasant but so poorly trained server. She spent minute after minute struggling to enter our order on an iPad. Poor software, poor training, and utter disregard by management for their guests.
This place could be sooooo much better with sooooo little effort.
Fabulous chicken piccata and local garden salad. First rate.
Ate at Jonathan's as part of a special venue credit for attending the Holly Near concert. My partner is gluten free and was served pre-dinner gluten free rolls! Very rare to find a restaurant that will do this. The chicken piccatta I ordered was prepared with chicken cutlets, cooked very crispy and served with capers and lemon butter sauce. I prefer chicken breasts and there was so little sauce, and very little lemon flavor, I had to ask for lemon wedges to add some taste, but otherwise the local carrots were excellent and the mashed potato was nicely prepared. My partner had the lamb shank, a huge serving, and served with only rice as a gluten free dish. The lamb had very little flavor, could have used more typical lamb seasoning. The house merlot wine was very smooth, though I have no idea what brand. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Could have used a little more lighting where we were sitting near the windows. A single candle wasn't sufficient to be able to see clearly what you were eating. Jonathan's is a wonderful entertainment venue, bringing in some of the best talent in a comfortable performance room upstairs. Having access to a restaurant downstairs before the show was nice. We will be back in the future.
