On a very busy night, the staff could not have been more pleasant and the food and service were excellent. A little $$ but certainly worth the money.
A series of small errors all in a row: the server stated he was paired with another server for our table, yet the other gentleman server never noticed us and repeatedly walked by our table. The caesar salad was requested with no anchovies and arrived with anchovies. The salad arrived with the hot appetizer and not after (we were not asked about the order of arrival) and the salad sat for several minutes, wilting, as it was not brought with salad plates and our server(s) were unavailable. The steaks were ordered medium and medium well and there was absolutely no distinction between the two. We voiced our concerns without causing a scene and were pleased when the general manager came to hear us out and apologized to us. Given the exhorbitant prices (we dined at Bonisonni's the night before and had a stellar experience for less money) an empty apology was nice but ultimately meaningless. The general manager did not offer a free dessert, nor offer to take the salad off the bill. She was made aware that this was our 10th wedding anniversary celebration. To be fair, I'm sure had she done so, the owners would have called her to task in an effort to squeeze out every penny they can.
Never, never again will I dine here.
Friends getting together before the play at the Ogunquit Playhouse. Loved the setting, the ambiance…the service was great, the food was hot and delicious. Will definitely return we are in Ogunquit again.
The Maine Scallops were excellent and we had outstanding service.
Excellent meal and service!! Mom had the seafood pasta - she said one of the best meal ever.
Loved it! The food was fantastic, the service impeccable. Just a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!
Our second visit and post covid the entire restaurant was open. We enjoyed our meal, and the service was wonderful.
Excellent service and food!
Good service, excellent food, lovely environment. I can't wait to go back!
The service was truly exceptional / our team of Kennedy and Tanika were so friendly, efficient and professional . Food was great and a value -The poached lobster was perfection and the app of scallops were lightly fried and delicious .
Just a tip for older diners / please learn to use PayPal, Venmo anything but asking for 6 separate checks after your meal. So many tables of older folk asked for separate checks after the check was presented. We watched in horror as the staff hustled to accommodate . They did not complain and never stopped smiling. As someone who waited tables I am begging people to not ask for separate checks or tell staff upfront . Teams are over worked so please be considerate .
I ordered the stuffed haddock. The haddock was not stuffed it had a scoop of seafood dressing on top. Approximately 5 oz of haddock for $34.50. Not worth the dollars. Would not go to dinner there again.
The food has always been delicious whenever we have eaten there! Great assortment
I’ve gone to Jonathan’s a few times a it is always incredible!!!!
Everything was excellent
Good food and service highly recommend the place.
Definietly Try Jonathan's, excellent all the way around! 5 Stars +
Johnathan's was excellent. The service was spot on, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. a bit pricey but all prices are going up so soon to be the norm. We had Sunday matinee tickets to the play at the Ogunquit playhouse and had made dinner reservations for after the play. The matinee started at 2:30 and I made reservations for 5:30. We were staying at a nearby inn so we walked. Johnathan's is a five minute walk from the playhouse. It was our anniversary and it was a perfect place to celebrate it Highly recommend.
Great service and excellent food. Would eat there again.
My husband and I have been going to Jonathan's Ogunquit for over 30 years. Often to celebrate our wedding anniversary but many times just as part of our ritual of visiting Maine. The service is always friendly, the menu is varied but not so extensive that they can't deliver and the food is fresh and local. There is traditional pub seating as well as several dining rooms. Many tables are located along the windows with a view of Jonathan's extensive garden. Weekend nights offer piano and jazz musicians to add to the celebratory atmosphere. There is also the opportunity to attend comedy and music performances in Jonathan's upstairs auditorium. A variety of plans can be selected when purchasing tickets that offer drinks or dessert and coffee with the performance. Jonathan, a long time owner of the restaurant, can often be seen in the dining rooms visiting customers. Whether you are celebrating a milestone in your life or simply looking for a wonderful meal, Jonathan's is a great place to spend an evening.
Lovely outdoor dinner in mid September. Restaurant had printed on menu that they were dealing with staffing and food costs.
Service was slow but very friendly. One complaint was that shepherds pie was so hot it burned my mouth, and same thing happened with blueberry crisp dessert. Portion of seafood “cache” entree very small for high price. And seafood chowder was almost totally potatoes.
The whole meal was fabulous.
We have not been since before Covid.
Another great dining experience! Wait staff is incredible at Jonathan's - especially Tameeka! She is amazing! Food was delicious and meal was a lovely presentation!
Very nice night here. The food was really delicious (there were a few things if we want to get crazy nit-picky about food-preparation but we figure that was probably due to the staffing stortage than anything). Timing was really good given the staffing shortage and everyone was super pleasant & friendly. We would absolutely go again!
We went to Jonathan’s to celebrate our anniversary. It was an excellent experience from the greeting at the door all the way through desert and coffee, The staff, despite being short handed, did an excellent job! The food was great and the pace to the evening was perfect. We’ll be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. The food was well prepared and delicious. The service was perfect. We will absolutely be back!
We chose this restaurant for our anniversary and were Very disappointed in the service.
We have dined at Jonathans several times in the past few years and always had impeccable service.
We expressed this to the manager who did nothing to ammend our concerns and seemed very aloof.
This is not the Jonathon’s experience we remembered.
There evening was perfect! From the friendly, professional staff to the delicious food.
Looking forward to returning soon!
Thanks to all the staff!!
Food and service was great, did not keep you waiting. Though you did not feel rushed by any means.
Overpriced! Almost impossible to get a dinner reservation and forget about breakfast they sent us away and we were staying at the Meadowmeare. Food was ok at best. Not kid friendly at all! Server was visibly annoyed by our party because we had kids with us and never brought us anything we asked for (bread, extra drinks, straws) Kids food was too fancy and not something a kid would eat (and they didn’t) When telling the server she said she hates when that happens?!?! Never offered anything else. I feel bad that the hotel promotes them as a family onsite restaurant because it is not what it is at all! Waste of money and horrible experience as I’m sure there are much better places to eat in Ogunquit!
Nice bar, good service in these difficult times but not a good value, 27.00 for Shepard's pie if over the top
My meal was outstanding and I would definitely recommend Jonathan’s.
The food was really good! Fresh and delicious from appetizers to dessert!
Bottom line don’t plan on having dinner conversation. The ambiance is ruined with the loudness that overshadowed the piano player and sax player. On top of that they seated a party of 20 in the middle of tables of 2 and 4 who were celebrating a birthday while one party goer proceeded to toast the guests strewn with F-bombs and other foul language. I felt uncomfortable especially for the family with two young children in ear shot. Meanwhile the workers at the establishment never said a word so it felt more of a bar atmosphere with upscale prices.
The staff was very friendly, from the hostess to the server and bus person. The food is delicious! I love the history behind the restaurant. We also stayed for the Dueling Pianos show and had a blast. We will definitely be back next time we are in Ogunquit.
Good food but response to a food allergy was somewhere between ignorance and indifference. Supplemental parking lot is unlit and too far away to be considered viable for anyone over 50. Concert venue (98 percent unmasked) jammed with customers close together. Great restaurant normally.
A great meal
Terrific food and outstanding service. We appreciated the theater discount offered. Ample parking.
A+ in every way. Their food and service is outstanding. I have eaten there a half dozen times and have never been disappointed.
The seafood was very fresh however, the preparation of the meal was routine, nothing special. The ambience was fine, a bit loud for an intimate conversation with live music, but I would not call this restaurant a fine-dining restaurant when looking at the way the meals are prepared. That would need to be notch higher. The food was good quality and fresh but drowned in butter sauce, bread crumbs, etc. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal. The expectations just need to be adjusted a bit.
Great venue just for dinner and even better when you combine with a show!
