Good food, great service friendly staff large variety of wines.
It’s a really good restaurant...but not a great one. The food had nice presentation, flavours were good but not mind blowing. The portion size of the snapper was small but all other portions were appropriate. Prices were a tad high for what it was. The service was good and they gave us a splash of wine because the medium rare steak was served rare. But they got it back to me very quickly. It was nice that there was a pianist but he good use some energy or cover better songs The enbiance was ok. The place could use some more character. We will likely go back but more so because there are a lack of high-end options
We celebrated St. Patrick's at Jonathon's and had a wonderful relaxing evening. The food, service and music were first rate. We have dined there before and have never been disappointed.
We both had scallops for starters and tenderloin steaks. Both were excellent with interesting accompaniments and flavours. The service was rapid and well-timed without being intrusive. An excellent experience.
My experience tonight was horrible I felt that I was very rushed and the food seems like it was just cooked as fast as possible to get out to my table the only thing that was good was the Caesar salad I spent over $200 for three people and it was like slop on a plate
Elegant and refined yet accessible and non threatening; those sound like fancy posh descriptors but are meant with sincerity. White table cloths, soft lighting, extensive wine list, refined ingredients prepared with knowledge and imagination. A wait staff that is very personable, attentive, welcoming, and full of information and charm. Starters, mains, desert and bottle of wine for two: under $300 with tax & tip. Highly recommend.
Great piano man. Starters were particularly spectacular
My friend and I had an amazing dinner and experience at Jonathan's. The staff are very friendly and professional. The food never disappoints and the ambience and atmosphere is exactly what we were looking for our date night. We were treated with a very talented musician that evening which made the experience that much more enjoyable.
I can't wait to go back
Great food! Nice singer. Great service. What was not to like.
We were lucky enough to be there in a slow time, but even so we were impressed by the attention we received. Someone was always there when we needed them while leaving us to ourselves otherwise. The food was excellent and the wine list outstanding. Definitely on our list when looking for a nice dinner out, especially for a special occasion.
Our servers were fantastic. Very attentive.
We had the tasting menu for Taste of Oakville which had highs and lows. The tuna tataki was overwhelmed by veggies and I’m still not sure I understand the mango coulis on the plate.
My husband beef green curry was fragrant and flavourful, very good. My sea bass was nicely cooked but it was hard to find the eggplant, peas and the mushrooms amongst the Japchae.
Finally the blueberry cheesecake cake was very good and had nice whole blueberries. The cheese plate was a bit of a joke with three slivers of different cheeses that were just ok.
I will say the layout for the bistro is squished. There are lots of larger tables with tables for two squeezed in. We were surrounded by tables with 4+ making it hard to hear my husband. We probably won’t be back but glad we went once.
I had lunch as part of The Taste of Oakville - overall the experience was very good. Highlight was the pecan tart pie !
We were in for lunch, first day of taste of Oakville. Was not disappointed. Fantastic meal and service was great.
Two couples for dinner made reservations last minute via open table. Attentive and knowledgeable staff but no pressure (we sat chatting long after we had settled the bill). Excellent and varied menu. Great ambiance with live entertainment but easy to carry on conversation. Will definitely return
This is a gem with an extremely varied and creative menu ranging from American to French to Italian. The soufflés were amazing and very similar to a high-end restaurant I ate at in Paris. Live music on Friday evening was fabulous. Great atmosphere of warmth and friendship where the owner sits and has dinner and welcomes guests and friends st the same time.
This was a special occasion, restaurant chosen by the birthday girl, food was very good, service was excellent, overall everyone enjoyed the evening. Will go again.
Food & service great, but noise level was impossible (due to other loud guests).
Decent food, great service, however, it was a Friday night and we were one of four tables the entire night. Felt awkward at times the restaurant was so dead. Not sure if we’ll be back. Had heard good things from Oakville locals but our experience says this is no longer a hot spot.
It was a birthday celebration
Great service and food. Tony is super!
We will go again!
Overpriced for the quality. Food should never be this expensive
We really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Overall, a fabulous dining experience.
Consistently excellent. One of our favourite restaurants. The quality of the food, the ambience and the service were all exceptional. Highly recommended.
Always a favorite in Oakville
Great food and service. There's a reason it has been around for several years. Loved it!
Our waiter was excellent and we enjoyed watching my pizza being made by the chef !
Very tired and disappointing.
Perennial favorite of ours for many years. Family owned and operated
Firstly, we were seated at a lovely table near the window. It was not so lovely once we sat down and noticed that the table wobbled, quite a bit. How could this not have been noticed before.
We were served quickly, almost too quickly. The service was merely adequate for such a restaurant. We had to ask the waiter for bread. Is it common place to have to ask.
The dinner was delicious. I give high marks to the chef!
What I found most disappointing is that when I made reservation I noted that it was for a birthday. Nothing special was done by the restaurant. A few tables away there was also
another guest celebrating a birthday. This guest received acknowledgement.
We are not regulars but have eaten at Jonathans before. The food is always exceptional.
Unfortunately the service doesn't hold par.
We wanted to have a nice bistro meal, NOT in a chain restaurant, and had it — great steak frites, a nice red wine, in a pretty room, attentive service, convenient (free after 6 pm) parking
Excellent food and atmosphere. They made us feel special. Great value!
From the moment we entered until we left we were extremely well treated by courteous and caring staff. Food and service exceptional.
Jonathan's is our go to restaurant. The food and the service our excellent. They are like family to us!
The ambience was lovely. Enjoyed the live jazz pianist. Wish they had more choices in the menu. But overall I had a good time. Very romantic!
Everything went smoothly, from the reminder phone call, choice of bistro or dining room
and great hospitality. Food was great and service tremendous. I've always heard about Jonathon's but never had the opportunity to go until Saturday.
Thank you for making it the go to destination for special occasions in the future
Always dependable. Professionally run and top notch staff
We had a lovely Luncheon visit with friends. We had asked for a quieter location and were provided with an excellent table away from other guests. We had a great catch-up and were able to hear each other perfectly. I can't thank Jonathan's enough for meeting our request.
The menu is varied and met all our tastes from a hamburger to a scrumptious soufflé. Soufflés are their signature dishes and I highly recommend them. Each couple shared a delicious slice of warm pecan pie in the most tender crust. Service was attentive but not hovering. A lovely afternoon that I look forward to repeating.
It was very bad. After living for so many years in Oakville, we had not tried somehow Jonathans but all the other restaurants. After a culinary peak in NYC last month, we reserved a table on opentable last minute. We went in by 8 pm. By 9:15 pm we still werent served our appetizers and noone even filled our water glasses, even after complaining. After asking to several servers, we got our mains by 9:35 pm (no word on appetizers that we ordered). My wife had Char and it was ok. My pasta was not cooked and was supposed to have scallops and shrimps in it, but there was only one of each for >$20 dish. The servers apologized (no management showed up) and took it all off our bill, but we left the restaurant Very unsatisfied and unhappy. Such a bad experience and so sad for already failing Oakville downtown
We went to celebrate our Parents 50th Wedding Anniversary! Everything was fantastic--lobster soufflé, scallops, oysters and even steak tartare...1/2 price corkage on Tuesday Nights and we brought treasures from our trips to France together. We booked the wine cellar as we' e enjoyed family gatherings and business dinners there before. Staff was very attentive...we felt incredibly spoiled. Thank you so much!
Always outstanding - we are from Dallas, Texas - but visit Jonathans each time we are in Oakville
Had a great lunch with long time friends! Will definitely return.
