One of the best dining experiences. The Au Gratin potatoes were the best! I had the Grouper, very good! Please don't miss it!
We chose Jonah's for Mother's Day. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The meals are not for the budget minded but for a special occasion, it will not disappoint.
Very good food and service.
Came here for anniversary celebration. Service was slow, waited quite a while for drink orders. Food has always been excellent in the past but this time my swordfish was over cooked and dry. Said something to the waitress and her reply was “yeah swordfish is dry”. Really!?? Also would have liked the vegetable sides, only side options listed are potatoes or rice, salad. Then saw another table served vegetables. Asked the waitress and she showed me the vegetables under the appetizers on the menu. Well no wonder I didn’t see them. If our next visit isn’t any better, we won’t be back.
Food and service were great. The table next to us was very loud and inappropriate using explicit language. We had our 2 girls with us and there were other kids in the room. I asked them nicely to tone it down and they never did. Everyone in the room could hear them so after we got our food we just got to go boxes because it was getting worse. Needless to say my wife's mother's day dinner was anything but great thanks to the table next to us.
When making our reservation, I marked down, "Anniversary". It's not a big deal, but no one mentioned it at the restaurant.
This place is outstanding! The seafood is delicious, and the service is impeccably timed. As soon as we were finished with our appetizer, our soup (fantastic gumbo!) arrived. Finished with that, our entrees came. This was our 20th anniversary dinner, and since we made reservations, they made special mention on the menu...and received a free piece of chocolate cake for dessert! The cake was huge -- easily shareable for 2 people. This is the best place for a special occasion.
Our Waitress Jessica was wonderful and the whole experience was fabulous
Very nice atmosphere, waitress was wonderful (Michelle I think), great view of the lake, next door to great lodging. Will definitely come here again when in town.
We celebrated my Mom’s 82nd Birthday. The great thing is that the restaurant prints menus daily and they put people’s name and the special occasion at the top the day’s menu. Food was excellent as always and the service was great. If you are looking for great fresh seafood you definetly want to try this restaurant. The services was great, as she was attentive but not intrusive. It was a nice and casual dinner with great food and wonderful company. They went the extra mile to make sure my Mom had a pleasant memory of her 82nd birthday dinner.
Always good food. Spicy Chai Thai Tuna is my favorite.
Great food! Gumbo! Bang bang bang Shrimp! Salmon! Yummo! Friendly service but a few patrons were extremely loud otherwise it was great.
Nice meal with my wife. We were seated upstairs, which was quiet. Food was good as always. Seafood gumbo always not to be missed.
We had occasion to dine Friday night 3-30-18. The halibut was too good for words. My husband had 3 appetizers vs a dinner meal so he could have variety. Our server was attentive, friendly and very efficient. After drinks and dinner, dessert was next up. The chocolate cake is decadent! I can't wait to go again.
Awesome experience tonight! The waiter Ryan took very good care of us as we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Planning for our next visit already!
I had not been to Jonah’s since our honeymoon in 1997. This time a friend and I were at a conference in the area and he had never been there. It is still a great place. The menus are printed each day and the seafood selections are very good. I also recommend the spring salad and sweet augratin potatoes. Overall, while it may be a little pricey for East Peoria it is still a great value for food and service.
We have been coming to Jonah's for over 20 years! The fresh oysters and fresh fish are second to none.
We got seated right away. The bread and herbed butter were very good as was the special entree and the clam chowder. The Caesar salad was only average and was not done in a true Caesar style. The desserts were good and the cake portions enormous. Having everything priced a la Carte made the meal more expensive than it was worth. Big city prices in a small town without the value added in quality.
Cousin was in from Ireland, it’s her favorite Peoria area restaurant.
Recommend that there is a comment area during the reservation process to indicate if you prefer a quiet area for couples only, or family friendly area.
The only suggestion I have is that you might have a section for people who want a quieter section. We were in a section with 3 families with small, very loud children, and it was hard to hear right across the table with the children screaming. It would be nice to have a night out without hearing that. Otherwise we loved it. Best gumbo ever!
Unlike our last visit to Jonah's, we had to purchase our salad separately, which added to the cost of an already pricey entree. The waitress mentioned that she noticed my plate had rice instead of the mashed potatoes I ordered. She brought it out anyway and I had to point out the error. The fried oysters were excellent---the mashed potatoes were very BLAND!!
Our server was atrocious from start to finish - she “didn’t remember” to give us our check and we had to go to the host stand to even be able to pay and leave. Our meals were wonderful and huge credit to the kitchen that our special
Meal was not ruined entirely.
For a couple who have limited seafood experience, we were really impressed with our waitresses knowledge of the menu, ingredients and we took her recommendations on a couple items which were great. Her name was Sam I believe. Very knowledgeable, friendly and patient with our questions! That's what really made our experience an enjoyable one!
Salads are fantastic . Carrot cake and key lime pie both unbelievably good . Something bad happened to bread pudding (hard and chewy ) fish tuna and mahi mahi suberb
I've been to Jonah's before and it's been wonderful, but my most recent experience left me extremely disappointed. It was a Valentine's Day date, so we expected busy. What we didn't expect was for them to have an extremely limited entree menu, be out of the bottle of wine we ordered, and then be out of our first 3 choices from the already the limited menu. And they ran out of bread! How does an establishment with so much experience run out of bread at dinner time?
We ordered calamari for an appetizer, and it was marginal at best -- some soggy pieces, and completely without salt. Hubby ordered bronzed salmon, and it was good but not great. I had the grouper salinas, and it was not really even good. The sauce was extremely shrimpy, to the tune that I couldn't really even taste the flavor of the fish.
In the end, this experience may dissuade me from going back to Jonah's. Perhaps someday for a more casual dinner or lunch, but absolutely never again for a holiday such as Valentine's Day. My husband and I were both left wishing we'd just had salad and dessert. I'm just trying to get over the disappointment -- I had such high expectations, and was left wanting.
We went on Valentine's Day and it was our first time at Jonah's. They had a limited menu and they were out of Ono my first choice so I went with the Jambalaya which was pretty good. However my wife went with the Grouper and was very unimpressed. Overall it was dry and bland and most definitely overpriced in comparison to what I had ordered. Decent service for a busy afternoon but we were left unattended for extended periods of time on a few occasions. Overall it was okay but not what I expected for an upscale restaurant on Valentine's Day.
The food is always good , this time service was disappointing . Took to long to get waited on . They didn’t take our order until we was done with our oyster rockafeller . Everyone around us showed up after we did but left before us . Oh well . Food was good as always
The experience for us was wonderful from start to finish. Great food, service, and ambiance.
I would recommend your resturant to anyone.
Loved it! Haven’t been back since I moved from Peoria- 15 yrs ago! So glad I made the trip for the restaurant!
Always nice night out at Jonah’s. The food was good, the timing of each course was very good. The wait staff was on top of it. My wife and I were able to have conversation since it wasn’t too loud where we were seated. Overall great experience!
Seafood as fresh as I had in Florida. Good service and timing of courses was perfect
Grouper had no flavor/seasoning, was over cooked or left under heat lamp in window too long. Caesar salad barely had dressing and the dressing tasted like lemon tartar sauce not like Caesar, poor lettuce quality. Poor service, disappointing overall.
Food was wonderful...our first time there...we weren’t disappointed!!
Well prepared entrees...the kitchen knows how to cook fish...not overdone! Interesting menu options. Good prices on bottled wines, ordered a Chardonnay that I regularly pay $22 for at the liquor store, menu priced at only $34...so a very good deal. Knowledgeable, attentive wait staff. A good experience
Wonderful experience for our anniversary. The pace of the meal was not rushed but timely. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was out of this world! Would highly recommend to others!!
Size of oysters have to be the smallest I've eaten in the past 40 years. Probably won't order those again. Bread crust was so tough I thought I was going to loose a filling. Other than that, very enjoyable evening. Drinks were great. (Brandy Old Fashion Sweet). Scallops were very tasty. Shrimp and fish very good. Veggies were ok. Bread cheese spread was excellent. Service was very good and server was pleasant. Enjoyed salads/size and toppings. Delivery of items were timely. Atmosphere was very nice too.
We had the best waitress, Leslie! It was a great dining experience!
The food and service were excellent. My only comment was that I had made this reservation two weeks prior to the date, When e arrive we were seated next to the opening to the reception rea. May tables were unfilled. I asked if our table of 3 could be moved to another table away from the hub-bub. The answer was NO . There were too many reservations. We ate and by the time we were through there were still 4 tables within close proximity that were still unfilled. Very poor answer and respect for us....
