We've been to to johnas quite a few times and by far this was the most disappointing time. I had to send my steak back to be cooked properly so my girlfriend was forced to eat alone or sit and let her food get cold. The vegetables that were part of the entree looked old and like they were scraped off someone else's plate and added to mine. Our waitress did a great job on the other hand and turned a bad dining experience into acceptable because of her.

We always dine here when we are in Peoria. I love the view and the coleslaw!! We prefer their lunch menu tho as the dinner prices are quiet high. Also I like to look out at the river, but they lowered the shades as the sun was going down. I am sure it would have been too bright if they had left them up, but I hated not being about to see the view. We would have gone earlier in the day, but they don't open for lunch on Sat. A disappointment.

The service was slower than I would have liked. It's not that the waitstaff wasn't trying; I think the restaurant needs more help.

First time dining here. The food was fabulous. We all had seafood and we all enjoyed it. Food was fresh and plentiful from the 2 appetizers to dessert. It was my wife's birthday. Our server brought out a HUGE piece of decadent chocolate cake for her birthday. On the house! Our next trip to Peoria will definitely include a trip to Jonahs.

We had a reservation for 3 and got there about 30 minutes early. Despite the fact that there were empty tables we were not seated for 30 minutes for no apparent reason. Our oyster appetizers were very good. Our entrees were undercooked and only warm not hot. After complaining to our waitress the manager came out and apologized and gave us free dessert. Luckily I had a gift card because had I had to pay the stiff bill ($150) I would have been really annoyed.

We had great drinks, excellent appetizers, delicious entree, and a scrumptious chocolate cake for dessert! For drinks we tried the Jonah's Sunset and Malibu Pina Colada. Delicious! My husband loved the shrimp and chicken egg rolls with great sauces for dipping. The filet mignon and fish and shrimp platter were fantastic! What a great place to celebrate our anniversary!!

We have noticed this restaurant for many years when traveling in the area. We decided to give it a try and were so happy we did. Everything was EXCELLENT. The quality of the seafood was exceptional. Service was perfect and the timing of the service was great. We will make this a must-do every time we are in the area.

I got the steak and king crabs. I was very, very disappointed. The crab was dry and the steak was not cooked properly and had no taste. My husband got fish, blackened and oscar style and that was very good.

The seafood was fresh and delicious, prepared with a light touch and cooked to perfection. We had the crab cake, jumbo shrimp cocktail, chowder (a favorite), and pound of Alaskan king crab legs (for each of us). A bonus is that the crab legs are prepared so that they are easy to eat and yield a lot of meat. There is no better place in East Central Illinois for seafood than Jonah's. The sides (from sourdough bread baked on site, to salads, to sweet potato gratin) were delicious, too.

The only negatives of our visit where twofold: 1) We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation. We were told that our reservation was for the same time as the restaurant's opening for the day, so we could not be seated. It doesn't make sense for a restaurant to schedule a reservation for the exact moment it opens. Assume that your first reservation will come 10-15 minutes early. When opening time came, the staff were still scrambling to prepare tables. We were actually seated around 10 minutes late (beyond our time of reservation). The hostess was professional throughout the wait period, but not especially warm or kind. 2) The interior needs updating. I'd be willing to go with the local neighborhood woodwork and other nautical elements that are traditional at Jonah's. But, the women's room is in desperate need (including the toilet flush mechanisms, one of which is partially broken). Also, the carpeting throughout -- faded, green indoor-outdoor. It's...unappetizing. The oyster bar affiliated with Jonah's has such a great interior, so we know the owners can do it when they build. Now we'd like to see some renovation.

We do love the gourmet food shop that is now next to Jonah's. We went there while we waited to be seated, as did many other diners. We bought the deviled egg appetizer and ate it while we waited for our table. Lots of nice things, some made at the restaurant and the rest well selected by a knowledgeable buyer.

Great food and service! My scallops were perfect and my wife's steak too.
Only concern is noisy in room by windows and one of staff talks really loud every time we have dined there.

Our meal and wait staff were exceptional. The noise level was a bit much so conversation was difficult at times. This was due to acoustics more than anything. We would definitely go back but maybe choose a quieter time.

My wife had the fried platter with shrimp, oysters, and fish. The oysters weren't fried enough. They were mushy and the shrimp had a medicinal or chlorine taste to them. I had the grouper pan fried which was very good. When the waitress asked how everything was I told her about the oysters and she just said "Oh I'm sorry". Even the appetizer of Bang Bang Shrimp was not what I expected. It was 6 shrimp on a plate seasoned with a spicy sauce. I have had this down south and it's a plate of nice shrimp (25-30) for the same money.

Our food and waitress were wonderful. The chocolate cake was a great treat for our anniversary. When we arrived we were seated promptly at a table that was close to the entrance of the main dining room. We saw 4 open tables next to the wall and asked if we could have a more private table. The answer was no, by the host who was seating us even when he went to go check. The whole time we were at Jonah's one of the tables never had people. I don't know what the system is for seating customers but we felt as if we were lied to about reserving the tables. My husband is hard of hearing and was very difficult to talk in the location we were required to sit.

Hadn't been here in probably 30 years...................Still very good seafood. Appetizers were calamari and fried oysters. The calamari was in a light batter and cooked to perfection. The oysters as well although the cracker type batter was a bit heavy. My wife had the sea scallops (4) which were pan seared and perfect. I had the swordfish broiled and it was a fresh hearty portion. Service was top notch and our meals well timed. Drinks then appetizers, soup and entree at a comfortable pace. No bums rush. The only ding I can really give them is that I had requested a table overlooking the river and 5 minutes after being seated the external sun screens were lowered. Good meal. A bit pricey. Will return before another 30 years rolls around!

We hadn't been to Jonah's Restaurant in a while, having had a good memory from the last time. However, we found the menu limited and the food average. The service was fine, and the noise level was tolerable. Sitting upstairs, it was rather warm assuming maybe the AC wasn't working. The next time we think of Jonah's, we'll stick with the bar. Hope it improves.
