We have eaten here many times, but this past time, our experience was very disappointing. 3 ppl cost $186?(includes $20 tip) and no alcohol. We had an appetizer, an entree, 2 desserts and tea. The portions have been scaled down to "mud-size." At $22-30 each, ordering 2, is quite costly. The food was good, but not spectacular. Perhaps this was because we came during winter on a Mon? We were not awed as in the past and we definitely will not eat here any more.

If you are a foodie then this is the place for you. My wife and I go her for
special occasions and anytime we are in town visiting my parents in Calistoga.
Matt does an excellent job with his dishes and the wine list by the glass selection is
awesome. If you cannot find a glass or a bottle of wine here to enjoy- you have some issues- many to choose from. Extra shout out to Sonja- she makes killer desserts to enjoy at the restaurant. We have also ordered birthday cakes for of family on several times through her bakehouse. The service is excellent and highly recommend
Overall food was okay/good. Nothing terrible or outstanding. Menu seemed all over the place from bar food to bistro to Asian. My only complaint was the rabbit - way over salted and not worth the $30. Duck was good. Gnocchi was good. Brussels sprouts salad was good. Bok choy was good but seemed out of place. The building and hotel/adjoining bar is a nice spot if you're in the Calistoga area.
The octopus starter was the best dish that we tried and the fried quail was also very good. The Mexican chocolate tartlet was spicy! Our server was very attentive.
The food was spicy, tasty and greatly presented in the plates, but the meal was a bit expensive. We had no salad, no wine, no desert and no coffee, yet the bill was close to $70. Portions were not very generous either. Overall a great restaurant, but not for every occasion.
Excellent american cuisine: Fantastic cocktails, personable wait staff and everything was so well prepared, we could not pick a favorite among the 8 separate dishes we shared from the sampler course menu, including dessert. We'll be back!
We visited JoLe with friends who had a variety of dietary likes/dislikes. One in our group was vegetarian. Another just wanted small bites. JoLe's menu had unusual dishes that our varied group thoroughly enjoyed. Great martini and knowledgeable waiter re: wines. We couldn't have chosen a better place in Calistoga for dinner.
The flavors are balanced and delicious. I prefer places like this with small menus so everything is fresh and not from the back of the freezer. You should check the menu first to be sure everyone in your party will be happy with the selection. After day of wine tasting, you will find a great selection of cocktails.
The food, the flavors, the creativity and thoughtful presentation all made this an exquisite dining experience. The servers were very attentive and knowledgable about the source and story of the food and wine. Thanks! WE will return.
Food was outstanding! The brussel sprout salad was the best I've had! Would definitely come here again.
What a find in the Napa Valley: a lovely, relaxed, high-quality Cal-French bistro. Popular with locals as well, this dinner compared favorably with our previous night's dinner at Auberge du Soleil (and we really like Auberge, having gone multiple times). Good service, pleasant dining room (it's on the ground floor of the Mt. View hotel in downtown Calistoga), and a great flexible menu. You can do a tasting menu of varied length from the regular menu selections, or just order whatever you like. Menu changes constantly, so don't worry about what we had - just go!
Food was good, but a liitle new wave for us. Service was great and friendly. A liitle on the expensive side.
We dined here one night while staying in Calistoga. I went out on a whim and random chose JoLe because of their menu options. We decided to do the 4 course meal with wine pairings. Their staff knows their stuff. All four wines were paired perfectly with the dishes and they were so knowledgeable about the background of esch individual wine. We had an absolutely wonderful tome and will definitely be returning next time we are up there!
My husband and I ate here the night after we got married, on a brief mini-moon to Calistoga. We were treated like royalty from start to finish, complete with some complimentary bubbly. We both did the 4-item tasting menu, which was the perfect amount of food to compliment the bottle of wine we brought. I am a vegetarian, and the expansive menu and a la carte tasting style was perfect for my needs, while my new husband had plenty of meat choices as well. We both particularly loved the gnocchi, which was cooked to perfection in a beautiful butter sauce.
My wife and I had a fun experience at JoLe during our short stay in Calistoga. We each had a different 4 course tasting menu. To our surprise the portions were large enough that it was really an 8 course menu for us to share. Since the menu changes every day, I will comment on the types of food we had: very fresh salads, veggies well seasoned and done just right, wonderful meats, creative desserts. A highlight was the sommelier varied the wines since my wife likes whites and I like reds. The wines and wine list are much better than the typical California restaurant perhaps because they are picked to go with the types of food prepared (the wines also change weekly). Luis provided explanations, recommendation, and perfect service along with the serving staff.
We made reservations on opentable and were delighted when we walked in and got seated at a quiet table by the window. The food and wine pairings were incredible!! The sommelier explained each course and why he chose the wine to accompany the dish. The 4 of us enjoyed a wonderful dining experience!!
My girlfriend and I chose the 5 course wine pairing dinner. It was the best meal of my life! The service was great! Both the waiter and wine somm were very knowledgable. The wine and quality of food was spot on!! I highly reccamend the wine pairing. Although, it can get a little pricey but definitely well worth it!
Avoid going to this restaurant on a Sunday night. We were seated by a waiter who looked annoyed that he was elected to seat us. Our waiter took our order and then basically forgot about us. We were served bread and water by a bus person and we also ordered cocktails. Neither of us liked our cocktails, and I even returned mine because I couldn't drink it. For the next hour, we had no contact with our waiter. We finished the bread, and were never offered a replenishment. We watched the table next us get their first 2 courses, and all we could do was salivate. I finally flagged down our waiter who apologized and claimed that he got busy serving coffee and forgot to put in our order, but he could get food out to us in 3 minutes. Really? What could they possibly put together in 3 minutes that is worth waiting for and why should I believe him?
We decided to get up and walk out. The food looked good, but we never got to taste it. In an obnoxious move, the restaurant canceled our reservation on open table after we left, which deprives me of the points I deserve for honoring the reservation, and removes my ability to leave negative feedback. Fortunately, after contacting Open Table, it was reinstated. Clearly, management was not present the night we were there (Sunday). It was a sour note to an otherwise perfect day in Napa Valley.
Although our dinner was delicious, our experience here was soured by the poor service. Our server was inattentive and downright rude for no apparent reason. At the end of our meal we mentioned this to the manager and he apologized half-heartedly and wasn't very responsive.
With so many outstanding dining experiences available in Napa Valley, I definitely won't be going back to Jo Le.
