Dinner before a show at Proctors Theatre. Food was great and service was excellent.
Took our daughter out for her 26th birthday to her favorite restaurant. We had a great time, the food was very good and the service was excellent. The staff is great.
Local family Excellent Italian restaurant. Homemade pasta. Specially drinks. Overall great restaurant
Excellent Italian food! Wonderful sauce. Very friendly service.
Good food, good service. Bar tender not very fast and drinks weak. I recommend ordering wine or beer and forget overpriced slow cocktails
The food was very good, but the service was bad. It took 15 minutes to get our drinks and 20 minutes for our order to be taken. We ordered an appetizer, which was brought to the table by a runner (not our waiter). The waiter never came by to ask how our app was. Our drinks were empty by the time the app arrived and were never asked if we wanted another until we were nearly done with our dinner (which was the first time we saw our waiter after placing our order). In the end, we had to ask one of the bussers for our check because our waiter was nowhere to be found. Very disappointing.
The restaurant was extremely busy. The food was very good, steak and shrimp scampi but the service was terrible. Our waiter tried his hardest to keep up but couldn't Took over 20 minutes for our drinks to come and 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food. I am happy that the establishment is doing well but they need to work on service. I would go back because the food was excellent but not at peak times.
Food and service were great. Took 15+ minutes to get to hostess desk due to multiple walk ins. No process for those with reservations.
Great spot for a couple of apps/drinks before heading across the street to Proctors.
Our party of 4 enjoyed our wine, food and service. Then we were off to see/listen to Keith Lockhart and Boston Pops - a great night!
Food was good but the waitress was horrible. We were there for over an hour and after our initial drinks we never got the chance to get another. Waitress then took our check and card to pay and didn't give it back to us for over 20 min. Luckily the bartender could tell we were getting upset and came over to check on us. Will never go back there again. I love the atmosphere, food and location but this is our third time, and last time, going as the service has been an issue every time we've been.
The food was terrible. We had eaten there before and loved it so we took our son there for his birthday and the special calamari over pasta was terrible, noodles were mushy and the calamari smelt fishy. I had the filet mignon with lobster cake and my meat was over cooked and dry. We think our food was done before my husbands veal chop and our sat for a while. Very disappointing. Our waitress we rarely saw .
I haven't been to Johnny's in a while. Very busy Saturday night and we were seated within 15 minutes of our reservation. Seems like the prices have gone up quite a bit. $8 for a pint of Sam Adams, $30 per entree. Waiter, JoJo was very personable and friendly. We did have to ask for bread after seeing everyone around us with theirs and we had none until entrees arrived. Main complaint is portions are small and prices are too high. Obviously they are doing well and I wish them continued success, but there are much better values in the area for the same quality food.
My favorite restaurant, great food, the staff is beyond great. Love it here
We had a fried eggplant appetizers that was a special and was very tasty. Although I’m almost positive I had it as an appetizer the last time I ate there... at least 2 years prior. So they might need some new specials. I had the handmade rigatoni with pink sauce and it was very good. Our main server was also great. If I had one criticism it would just be that the staff kept circling. I was probably asked if I was done eating approximately 10 times (I’m not joking) in 20-30 minutes. The restaurant was dead, so they shouldn’t have been worried about flipping tables. Plus we still had wine to drink. So that was maybe the only irritating thing. I finally gave in and said I was done because I just wanted to be left alone! Haha. But I would still recommend because the food is nicely priced and very tasty.
Service was friendly and efficient. Food was great!
Very good food, great atmosphere, and very professional staff. The waitress was a lot of fun and made our experience more enjoyable.
Food was overall good. Atmosphere was great and service was fine. One meal filet was undercooked so we needed to send it back but it was corrected right away.
We always are happy with our meals. However tonight I had pasta with clam sauce. It was very sandy. I sent it back. My husband received a free dessert, but I was charged for my meal that was returned. It was very disappointing.
After a little bit of a wait because of the ore-conference crowd, we enjoyed attentive service in a quieter part of he restaurant. We had the specials - sea bass over risotto with zucchini spirals, and grilled lobster tail over linguini in a light cream sauce with grilled tomatoes and peas. Very tasty!
Totally overbooked reservations. Customers complaining all around me. Some walking out. Very stressful. Never delivered our appetizer Waiter very apologetic. But entire atmosphere stressful with customers complaining. Was my first time there celebrating my birthday. Will never return.
The only issue I had was that I made reservations for 7:15 ,and was not seated till 8:00 when the table we sat at was open the whole time, so my issue was the hostess with out the mostess, after that service and food was great.
Excellent first time experience. From the Happy Hour selections, food and service all on point. Will be back very soon!
I went to Johnny's for my birthday celebration. We started at the bar for happy hour with friends but I also made a dinner reservation for me and my family for 7:00. It was perfect - the food - the service - I could not have asked for anything better!
We had the opportunity to eat here before the Proctors show. Excellent food quality. The Italian nachos are amazing!
It is of course very busy Preston but the staff handled it well. We will definitely return.
The fact that they are a St Jude supporter and will even match donations made speaks to the ownership - Thank you!
Great place. We had reservations before a show at Proctors. We were initially seated in the bar area at a hightop table. It was a little loud and crowded. After speaking with the manger he was able to sit us at a table in the dining room. He was very friendly and accommodating. Food is always excellent.
I took my mother there for lunch prior to a play at Proctors. We had a reservation at 12. Our table was taken and we were sat at the Pizza Bar room. Fine enough. Hostess and perhaps front of the house manager were frenetic energy. Turned people without a reservation away for 45 minutes likely due to short staffing. Server didn't ask if we wanted anything other than water and did not come back to see if I wanted soup. Dropped off bread with no butter or oil. Then comes out with meals. Food was good. Service and staffing could use a refresher.
Pre-theatre lunch was very good. We all had the eggplant rollatini, and it was very good. Servers had a LOT of tables to cover since the place was packed and they did the best they could. Order of coffee - huge mugs and served with a little biscotti - a nice touch. Wish they had more than 2 stalls in the ladies room since could not accomodate a large crowd (they did temporarily change the men's to a ladies to help with the line). Would recommend this.
Our latest visit to Johnny’s was a pre-show lunch. I was glad I made reservations. The place was extremely busy.....but once our order was placed, it arrived at our table relatively quick. However, some of the items that were on the lunch menu were different from what was described in the online menu....but still delicious. I would definitely recommend Johnny’s . Great food....great atmosphere.
Took friends from out of town who enjoyed it very much.
The staff was very friendly and professional. The gentlemen, who provided the water, bread, and cleared the dishes were excellent.
Our waitress, Debora, was excellent. She checked in with us often.
The food is fantastic. It is always very difficult to select what entree to order. Excellent food!!!
Directly across from Proctor’s in Schenectady. Amazing decor/service/food. A bit noisy, but fun. Definitely would recommend and already have another reservation. We
Great place. Good food. Great waiter (Bobby) will return.
The Worst restaurant experiences we ever had. I’m not sure how they got their good reviews. The food took forever and when the chicken parmigiana of my daughter finally came was still frozen inside. The food and service was very bad. Please do not go there.
First time to Johnny’s that I’ve heard many people talk about. The service was great, there at our table checking on us, taking away plates, getting us another beverage, asking if we wanted dessert. Dinner was served fast so that one could get to a show on time. Highly recommend.
Absolutely terrible service, food cold and had asked waiter for bread. Out of 4 meals 3 went home to reheat. Would never go back. Good pr would be to insure we would come back to comp $10 ravioli dinner. Not even a mention just a lot of lip service
Busy place, lots of friends and families coming in for conversation and laughter, just as Italian restaurant should be.
Good food, VERY NOISY! Table for 2 was small. Best bread!
Calamari was great. Rest of dinner meh.
Bland over price. No wow factor. Maybe we ordered the wrong items. Same items we would have othe Italian restaurants with same great service equal or less money but food to die for. Homemade tagliatelle was mushy. Sauces bland. Not particulRly good portions for the money. Very dissapointed.
Better places all over Schenectady and Albany with to die for food and value.
