Special occasion for my moms
88 bday - Turkey burger was extremely dry, tasteless & unattractive - vegetable platter was mostly potatoes & 2 tiny pieces of cauliflower & beats- Cobb salad was best of the 3 but not much flavor.
Unfortunate....

Although we liked the food very much as well as the atmosphere, the service was so awful that it put a damper on our experience. Every time we needed a waiter it took forever… to take our drink order, to bring one of our appetizer while the rest of us got our appetizers, To bring our check at the end of the meal. Our reservation was for 715 and we didn’t get our final bill until 10 o’clock. It was very disappointing. Also, the music was too loud to be able to have a conversation. However, the waitress did arrange to have the music volume lowered at our request.

Food decent. Service not great. Waitress kept telling us wine glasses were in the dishwasher. Draft beer out on a Friday nite. Empty tables not cleaned

Expensive for what you get but the food was good. Cold crab bisque which was great when heated. Hanger steak my son said it was good and the best carrots he ever had. Husband had a grill cheese he said it was good. I had the salad with shrimp on the side. For a place that touts itself as a maryland seafood place the 4 little shrimp were mediocre . The salad was tasty with poppy seed dressing was yummy. Had three cookies for dessert buckwheat choc chip and mocha choc chip- STALE shouldn't have been served. Two margaritas- good.

The food was average at best and the service slow and poor. That being said I was a male dining alone which usually results in less than good service. Of all the Foreman-Wolf restaurants I have visited this is by far the least favorite. I had a gift certificate which somewhat offset the disappointing evening. This is NOT a destination restaurant.

I have been dining at Johnny's since their opening. But I must shout out to all of Baltimore that when my friend and I lunched at JOHNNY'S the other day, there is only one word that I can use to describe our food - SUPERB! I cannot wait to return. It was one of the best dining/luncheon experiences we both could remember. Kudos to JOHNNY'S and their beyond excellent CHEF.

Mixed bag- crab bisque and cobb salad were good. Crab cake ($25) was really bad - lots off filler and poorly seasoned. Roasted vegetable plate ($18) was a small mound of vegetables swimming in oil. We would have complained but we were at a family reunion and didn't want to make a fuss.

The butternut squash soup was outstanding. My friend and I ordered the chef salad, which was very good, but spoiled by the fact that the only dressings you can get are vinaigrettes. Neither was particularly good.

We'll go back, but unless they change the salad dressing options we won't order that again.

Pleasantly surprised with the Sunday Brunch. Close to home and reasonably priced. Excellent service from the staff . I will be back. Even my wife who is a foodie was satisfied with her meal and the service.

First the bad; The parking availability is very poor. Too few spaces had to circle block and lot for 10 minutes to find space.
Multiple rooms and for some reason I am usually seated in room all the way in back. It feels like being in Siberia although it is relatively quiet.
Good news; the new menu is an improvement. Clam& ham toast excellent. Hamburger good. Crab puffs different (and pretty good)
I’ll be back- keep improving.

Good food and very attentive service. the only real glitch was with dessert. Pistachio ice cream was just okay and the promised plum tart turned out to be nectarine, but the manager comped it, so that was fine. Cool wine cellar vibe.

My first visit and what a nice surprise...great semi-underground interesting design, nice large tables with spacious seating. Love the stone walls. An eclectic menu with something for everyone. I had the crab bisque/crab salad and cornmeal fried oysters - both excellent. I also enjoyed the creamy mac and cheese as a side. My friend had the short rib sandwich - she said it was very good. The open kitchen is fun to watch. Only suggestion - had hoped for more seafood dishes to choose from since the concept of this restaurant is suppose to be based on the love of seafood. I enjoy all the Foreman/Wolf restaurants - and this one is now an additional treat!

Excellent meal. Had the fish & chips. Batter coating was perfect; not too thick and the fish was cooked to perfection. My business partners had salmon and the cuban sandwich. Both were pleased with their meal.

We have eaten at Johnny's at various times since 2014, when we moved to Baltimore. We were never impressed and sought out other restaurants. Knowing that there was a new chef, our party of four dined at Johnny's pre-theater this past Saturday evening and each of us had a very good experience. The food was very good; and the service was spot-on.

The salad has kale in it and the menu did not indicate that so both of us were not happy with the salad. The chicken which was grilled on top has no taste and the server could not have been less engaging or helpful.

It was a convenient location on our way downtown. It started well, but left me cold. My disappointment was that the crab cake was more like a crab cake you would get in Ohio, not from the cradle of crab cuisine or from such renowned local chefs. It was devoid of jumbo lump, looked like a hockey puck, appeared to have added red peppers (a no-no with authentic cakes) and largely tasteless... so I imagine it had been frozen. Sorry if the true hurts. Please do better, Johnny.

Great casual dining venue. Carefully prepared food in which flavors are complementary and distinct, but restrained. Attentive service. Low noise means its easy to converse without raising one's voice. The booths are a treat - very comfortable.

Hard to accept that a Wolf operation can be so mediocre. Food is forgettable (a grilled squid dish was actually sautéed and swimming in oil). Service is disjointed even if earnest. Wine list is mostly accessible wines, taste and price-wise.

Maitre d' was very controlling and rude to her staff. Poor fellow was new, and she was very condescending to him. Felt bad for him.

Came for brunch. Portions were small for the price and quality. Would be willing to try this place again for dinner.

We hadn't been to Johnny's in a while and we were pleasantly surprised, as it has improved on many fronts--the previous menu of small plates/tapas had gotten a bit tired in my view but the new menu has been broadened and offers many tasty options--The service was excellent and the place has a good vibe, back on our neighborhood go-to list.

The ambiance was very good - very quaint. It should be a friendlier, more customer oriented experience. It took quite a while to have our order taken, after being seated. The person who brought the bread was very nice, and the gal who brought the water was very pleasant (and adorable). But from there, the quality of service went down. I should not have to flag down or look around to get a server's attention as much as I did. I don;t want them sitting in my lap, but I don't think I should have to work to get their attention, either - and there seemed to be plenty of people on staff and the restaurant was not that busy, that this should not have happened.

When the food came, it was OK, but a bit disappointing. Not a lot of flavor or reasoning to the meats. I understand (somewhat) where the chain restaurants have "dumbed down" their seasoning, to appeal to the masses with a generic style; one cook fits all. But that should not be happening at a local, higher end restaurant.

Probably not going back, despite the convenience of the location (Roland Park) to where we will be finding ourselves in more in the future.

- Bob Landau

I wanted to love the new menu and was hopeful that it would be on par with the other Foreman/Wolf restaurants. For beginning to end it was uneven. Some of the dishes were very good others were tasteless. The service was very uneven and we must have 5 or 6 different people wait on our table. I am not a fan of the decor. I know it is the basement but it feels that way. I wish that somehow the space could to warmed up with fabric or something. The highs don't outweigh lows. I am sorry as I really wanted to love it.

I have not been to Johnny's in a long time. Prior to this visit, I had been to Johnny's on 5 other occasions. Each time I dined here, I have been disappointed in what I selected from the menu. This visit sent me down a path of disappointment again. I ordered the Cuban sandwich, thinking it would be a safe selection. I expected a traditional Cuban - the description on the menu did not indicate it would be anything different. When the dish came, it was a spicy shredded pork sandwich more like barbecue. Plus, many pieces of the meat were simply not chewable. I should have sent the plate back, but I did not. My lunch guest had better luck, having selected a crab cake sandwich which he thoroughly enjoyed. After 6 experiences where I did not enjoy my meal, it is time for me to give up on Johnny's.
