Johnnys Kitchen and Tap Ratings and Reviews
We went there for the liver and onions. It was good but not as good as I had remembered it in the past. The baked onion soup was delicious. The side salad was lots of lettuce, 1 slice of cucumber and 2 grape tomatoes. They were very busy and our waitress, who tried her best to do a good job, was hampered by the short staff. She said there were a lot of new staff members who needed assistance which delayed her. In the past, I have had their 1/2 chicken dinner or their bar-b-qued ribs which were always very good. Those 2 items were also very good when ordered for take-out.
It's still one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants to go for a good casual and as well as complete meal.
My experiences at Johnny's Tap was good as usual and Mary always makes us feel like special guests when she comes to the table to greet us. The appetizers were delicious accompanied by our cocktails and crusty bread. Some of our meals were selected from the special menu of the day: the lamb chops were very small; steak and lobster delicious. The BBQ ribs were a little too "stick to the bone". The accompanying veggies were more than al dente, but the mashed potatoes made up for them. Complimentary dessert bread pudding was YUMMY! Yes, we're going back soon.
Johnny's is a great local place with really good food in a very casual atmosphere. We like to meet friends there because of the excellent service and the friendly waiters. The specialty of the house is the chicken and it makes for an tasty meal, Recommend Johnny's for all these reasons and more.
Chicken is part of the backbone of their menu and it wasn’t too good and the price keeps going up. Chicken and ribs were over cooked. As was the vegetables, as well. One of our party had chicken brichette and said it was very good. But the other 2 had salmon and London broil. Neither was above average.
Despite seeming busy, we were seated right away. Very nice location. Prompt service, very polite and knowlegable staff. Drinks never went empty, great service and food was out with almost no wait. Nothing was missing, everything extremely flavorful and cooked to order. Overall a great experience. Would highly recommend.
Overall, our group found it was quite pricey for lunch. We can get better values at Outback or Black Finn, Olive Garden.
No one seemed to think it was great. The service that day was very slow. As seniors who meet once a month, we like to try new places, and we were not especially impressed.
This was an evening out for a birthday celebration. It started out great with a nice booth. The server was poor at best. Our waiter Diego was rude and condescending. I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio ( something I have been drinking for years) What arrived was clearly a Chardonnay- easy mistake- but it took him 20 minutes to return to the table to rectify the situation I had to ask another server to handle this for me which she did easily and with a smile- too bad we didn't get her as our server. When he realized what happened he said it was my fault and he clearly saw the bartender pour pinot grigio-I know what I tasted! what ever happened to the customer is always right. Fast forward to the meal, my husband ordered lentil soup and what he received was minestrone- again Diego took his spoon and began stirring it and telling him it was lentil- not a lentil to be found among the vegetables and potatoes that make up a minestrone soup! The ribs and Chicken combo that my husband ordered were good-thank goodness!
Unfortunately, when you are out for a special evening that is not inexpensive ,sometimes bad service can ruin your experience. I'm not saying don't go there- just do yourself a favor and get another table if you get Diego as your waiter!
Fourth time dining at Johnny's. Three previous visits were 5 stars for everything. Wanted to try the chicken, so I ordered chicken and ribs. The chicken was outstanding, but the ribs were not the fall off the bone type. Felt they were too tough. Mash potatoes came with the meal and never had before. Other reviewers raved about them. Personally, they were just okay. Still, I would go back to Johnny's and highly recommend the restaurant. Service was outstanding!
Jonny's is ALWAYS reliable. We've been coming here for over 20 years and don't remember a bad meal. The staff is friendly and efficient and the food is consistent. Although very little is outstanding or overly creative, the chicken, meat and fish are always tasty and well prepared. Portions are large and means come with soup or salad, bread, vegetables and a starch. The real mashed potatoes are real comfort food. The varied menu caters to most tastes.
While we go to Johnny's on a regular basis for its consistently good food, last Friday the meal was extraordinary! We started out with blue point oysters which were to die for. I had salmon with shrimp and scallops, along with Johnny's amazing mashed potatoes and each bite was so delicious. Their shrimp is always so flavorful, unlike frozen shrimp at other places and each bite of scallop caused an involuntarily moan of pleasure. They served little French martinis to each table in honor of Bastille Day; this was a really fun touch! Then we received a complementary bread pudding a la mode (I don't know why, but I said thank you!). I thought that I was not a fan bread pudding but I tasted it because it was in front of me. It was absolutely delicious! Thank you for a lovely evening!
Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. A sign above the bar touts their homemade mashed potatoes and they're not kidding - really delicious! A friend recommended Johnny's some time ago and we finally made it there earlier this week. My husband and I both ordered the surf & turf special. The steaks were well-prepared and the lobster was excellent. The dining room was a mixture of couples, families, and business groups out for dinner. The atmosphere was lively, but not deafening, like some places, so it was possible to have a conversation. We will definitely return.
