Johnny V serves contemporary American and Caribbean fare. Its menu includes upscale and fine dining cuisine such as rack of lamb, quail eggs, duck confit and tuna tartar. Enjoy a wide selection of desserts like chocolate cake or crème brûlée along with select beers, wines and cocktails when dining at Johnny V. With a tapas or small plate menu, dine here for lunch or dinner, or meet up here with friends after work for a late-night snack.
Johnny V offers an ultra-chic and suave décor with a red and gray color scheme. With a spacious patio, it also has a place for you to sit outside and enjoy the weather.
I had read that this has been rated a #1 restaurant in Los Olas, I was very disappointed, after waiting 20 minutes to order a bottle of wine, I was already upset. The food was moderately good but no means IRON CHEF material at all. I wanted the duck which was unavailable even though it is a staple on the menu. Will not go back there ever, much better places I would think. I hate when a restaurant does not keep its status up, what a shame.
The food and atmosphere at Jonny V's really is quite good and we have visited here a number of times. However, I feel that they need to focus on the management of the restaurant. On this last visit, our water glasses were only refilled once during dinner, drinks that we ordered took over 30 minutes (multiple times) and entrees arrived cold. We noticed the same problems at all the tables around us. I can understand the occasional bad server or off night, especially on a holiday, but what we experienced clearly indicated a lack of oversight which I hope they will quickly correct.
Our reservation on Christmas Day began with a hostess who was obviously bothered by us. The demeanor of this young woman was so unpleasant I actually asked if she was having a bad day. I was the host of a,party and was embarrassed to be treated this way in front of my guests. It seemed it was very inconvenient to seat us inside as we had reserved a month ago. Funny, 4 tables around us were vacant for an hour after we sat.
The waiter started off very attentive, but seemed to lose interest. Our appetizers were served in 2 courses as the kitchen forgot one. Our ticket time for entrees was 40 minutes. My friends steak was requested medium rare. It came out well done. When the manager came to the table, he did offer a new steak, but my guests did not want to keep us all waiting. She did not eat her meal.
There was nothing done. No comp of the meal, no gesture of apology, not even a dessert.
We have come to Johnny V for the last 3 Christmas dinners. My husband and I also come to dine. This will be my last time.
Great service. Prompt delivery if 3 yo's dinner to keep her happy. Soup, crab cakes, scallops terrific. All in all great. Traffic and parking, not so great, even on Christmas Day!!
Amazing food. I had the recommended sea bass and it was the best I had in a long time. View of Las olas was nice as well .
We always try to schedule a layover when nearby so we can dine at the fabulous Johnny V's. Hard to find sheeps milk cheeses, perfectly cooked scallops, and sea bass filled our plates. Excellent service as always. Dining outside was entertaining while we observed Los Olas traffic. Highly recommend.
The service and food remarkable it was the best dining we have been searching for. Key lime cheesecake surf and turk and dont get me started on the duck meatballs. Tastebuds beyond spoiled...love it
Awesome choice for our Anniversary dinner. Was very quaint and perfect for dinner for two. All of our expectations were met from service to quality of food.
Everything was outstanding! Our party of four started with a field greens salad with figs & goat cheese and a Caesar salad - both superb. For our entrees, we had (2) filet mignon, (served with mashed potatoes and asparagus), one lobster roll and one divers scallop (topped with crab and served with forbidden/black rice and a curry drizzle) All were delicious - presentation was gorgeous too! Our server Michael deserves special mention - he was attentive and gracious and sweet. Also worth mentioning, as a starter we were each given a smoky Tomato soup (espresso cup size) served with a crostini with goat cheese .. Very lovely and a nice touch. We were really delighted with the evening and are determined to go back soon!
Great service, and the best pork I've ever had.
The menu was diverse; there was something for everyone. The cocktails were perfect.
I ordered a salad, very imaginative, nice presentation. For main course I had the duck, again well prepared (i like it a bit crisper), nicely presented. No problem substituting vegetables!! My wife had a shrimp dish as an entree and it was outstanding, grilled just right, huge portion.
The wine selection is great and the service impeccable. We should have limited the amount we ate because we had to skip the desserts.
We ate on the terrace on Thanksgiving. Friendly and helpful service. Good food and decent wine selection.
We also discover Los Alos blv.
3 of 6 ordered the fish special which was overlooked and pretty tasteless. The rest the food was averagecand bland. Very disappointed as I recommended the restaurant
I am more concerned with OpenTable and the disconnect between your organization and Johnny V's. It was a very special occasion with it being my significant others birthday, and when we arrived, we discovered Johnny V's did NOT have our reservation. Not only disappointing, but embarassing, considering I was led to believe OpenTable had this complete and handled.
This does not bode well for OpenTable as I am well-established in the community, and have a plethora of friends and family that dine out frequently and often. Most look to me for suggestions, ideas, and guidance when it comes to entertainment and dining.
Fabulous service, wonderful and creative menu, it was a shame we were too full for dessert! Highly recommend the cheese course to start.
Had the Mahi. Live in South Carolina and we get great fish but not Mahi. Great preparation. Great waiter.
I like Johnny V's but come here specifically for the truffle fries and lobster dipping sauce. It is unique and the best!
This place never disappoints. They have been providing consistently wonderful meals since they opened - and have managed to maintain their standards.
Johnny V's was better than expected. The food was amazing, from the first 'amuse bouche' of smoked tomato soup, to the last bites on our plate. Our server, Samantha, was the most professional server. We mentioned a food allergy to her and she was so attentive to that. My husband and I often share mussels as an appetizer, and Samantha is the only server we have ever had who made sure we had TWO small forks. And did I mention the lychee martinis??? I immediately came home and emailed some friends to recommend Johnny V's for our annual Holiday Dinner next month.
C'mon, how many years in same location without a refresh? Very similar menu, not much to look forward to. And $6.50 for bottle of commercial iced tea? Over this experience!
Great brunch experience! Our server Ed was attentive without being overbearing. We would definitely return.
Went to Johnny V with my wife and 2 girls. Great service and food was phenomenal!!
The specials are nice, but anything off of the menu is tasty. The service is friendly and attentive, but not obtrusive. Nice atmosphere, casual, but fine dining. Consistently good.
Every time I am in Ft Lauderdale visiting, I have at least one dinner at Johnny V.
The staff always make us feel, welcome, the food is always excellent, and service great.
We shared the baby lambchop salad, and had the Mahi Mahi. Dishes always come with
interesting sides, from risotto, to baby vegetables, and the bread is wonderful.
My wife and I frequent Johnny V as one of our most coveted dinner locations. Made a reservation on a quiet Saturday night to celebrate a business anniversary dinner. Waiter was OK at best-- really disappointed in the service. Did not tell us the specials, check on our dinner or engage much at all in ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Requested a special message on the dessert and he stated the chef "had nothing to write with." Come again? However we noted that he did not hesitate to provide the table behind us with a full customer service experience. Distasteful. Unfortunately, this was quite off putting and left us questioning the staff and business culture of Johnny V.
From the people at the front desk, the outstanding waitress to the food, everything was perfect.
Service and desert excellent, duck very mediocre, drinks weak, aperitif tiny and expensive.
I have friends from up north that I took there Friday for lunch. We arrived about 2:30pm, so it was after the lunch rush. Every one us raved about our lunch! It was absolutely delicious. We then shared there special chocolate cake. The chocolate was not sweet and the filling had a taste of banana. The chocolate frosting had a hint of peanut butter. I still smile as I write this review!
I always look forward to eating at Johnny V's, and as always I am never disappointed. The food is excellent, service attentive (but not overly attentive- waiters are not hovering over me watching me eat). My pet peeve with restaurants is that they are so noisy you can't have a conversation with your fellow diners. It is vibrant, but not too loud. 5 Stars all around!
Johnny V's is THE place I go to take friends or potential clients when I really want to leave them with a strong impression and positive memory. The restaurant setting is sharp, professional yet warm and inviting. The table and food presentations are unparalleled, the staff are sharp in appearance, knowledgeable about the food and wine menus, and very personable; yet they also understand when too much presence is too much. The chefs always have some intriguing surprises as specials, but defaulting to the main menu is never a disappointment. If you like blue cheese, you've got to try the Maytag salad. It's the best! For a gourmet experience in a baroque environment, Johnny V's is the place to go!
Restaurant needs to be refreshed as do the menu and the staff. Good has lost its edgy touch. Server bordered on surly (not very child friendly, even to well behaved child). Good not inspired, portions small for Dine Out. Usually eat at other times. Must have fabulous lease. I have NEVER seen the restaurant full.
It's always a pleasurable experience dining at Johnny V! The food and service are impeccable! Looking forward to my return!!
Our waiter was so attentive
There are choices of food and wine for every palate
Now one of our favorites
As usual, Johnny V continues to impress - delicious food, wonderful service, and a great location. I recommend it to all.
Johnny'V's is one of the best restaurants in south Florida. The food I'd imaginingly prepared, top quality with a beautiful presentation. The wine list provides lots of choices. The staff knows the menu inside out and is very helpful. You can dine inside or out front and people watch. The chef sends a complimentary small plate at the start of your meal. You are never rushed and the staff is attentive.
We had seen good reviews about this restaurant. So, when it was on the list for Dine Out Fort Lauderdale, we decided to give it a try. The menu had a very nice selection of dishes for the four courses. Everything we had was delicious! A great way to try out a new restaurant!
Everything about dining at Johnny V was spectacular; from the drinks to the food/dessert, to the service. All the food my boyfriend and I ordered came to us cooked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Each dish brought to us was presented/plated thoughtfully and beautifully; which made the dining experience even greater. I highly recommend Johnny V and you nor your taste-buds will be disappointed by anything they have to offer.
The services and food were excellent, would highly recommend!
This was my first visit to Johnny V. Each course was carefully put together with bold and subtle flavors. It was clear that the recipes were put together with care, consideration, and expertise. Bravo. The dishes that were cooked on the grill had char remains that was slightly overpowering. The seating was a bit cramped, the seats worn in areas. The service area was wide open and peculiar at the back of the restaurant. It seems like the space could be better utilized. The servers were perfectly attentive, though tap water was poured and diluted my bottled water glass after dessert was served. The only Syrah by the glass tasted a bit too open and tart. Overall, the experience was good, lending a big pull to the cuisine. Would like to try their Brunch menu.
