Almost every seat in the house has a view of the dining room’s main attraction, Manhattan’s only mechanical bull. Showcasing the full essence of the Southwestern theme, the beast is theatrically surrounded with cascading metal chains & burning candles that echo “rings of fire,” signifying the celebration of the icon. The interior was designed as an interpretation of an old western mining shaft with salvaged antique tiles & pony-hide furniture.
Johnny Utah’s is sure to serve as an ideal location for both delicious Southwestern food & drinks, & late night reveling & bull riding.
I think we caught these guys on an off night. We showed up after Barnard commencement at RCMH, and was actually surprised that there were only a dozen patrons. I was a bit perturbed that both our appetizers and main entrees had to be returned because the orders were wrong, and we were the only five people actually dining, and three of them ordered the same burger. So yeah, they could've been way better considering there were two cooks on duty.
Loved the food here and the drinks were amazing. Its not too expensive, decent prices, besides the drinks of course . Wait staff was friendly. Definitely would come again !
We had so much fun. The music was great and the people were friendly we all had a good time and danced and sang
Horrible experience. Went before a show at Radio City. Place was empty but food took forever. Ordered rare steak. Came out well done, like a brick. Asked for extra broccoli instead of mashrd potato, came out with potatoes. No time to get another before the show. They didn't charge me but dinner ruined. Will never return.
I love this place unfortunately the food was not up to par no was the service it's best to keep ur party less than 10 ppl for they are not equipped to handle a large crowd of 25 at one time.. the drinks were great and riding the bull and the friendliness of the other patrons
Nice chill spot for lunch. Looks like it would be a lot of fun at night. The mechanical bull is intriguing.
Horrible. It was 1 pm on a weekday and there were only two tables occupied. That should have been my first clue. Table smelt like stale beer, burger rolls were soggy and the place was old, dirty and dingy looking. Frankly, I was embarrassed to have taken a work colleague there. I thought it would be a safe choice, considering proximity to Rockefeller Center.
To begin with it took five minutes to be acknowledged. The restaurant was nearly empty, but it seems there was only one waitress working. She directed us to a booth where are the seats seem to have been mauled by a rabid bear. The leather was torn to shreds. We pointed towards another booth - perhaps may be over there? She said it was fine - it was also incredibly tattered. In the crevices Between the back and seat there was so much food, crayons, crumbs etc. The table was wobbly, this the waitress fixed. My colleague ordered the pulled pork on a brioche, but the bread was just a super market hamburger bun. I ordered the fajitas and the condiments came in small plastic throwaway cups. All in all this did not seem like a restaurant that belonged in Midtown, or anywhere else where people care what they eat or how they’d eat it. Terrible.
Poor food. Poor Service. Poor ambiance. Disinterested staff.
llegamos a este lugar porque estábamos por el rumbo y los niños ya tenían mucha hambre. La comida estuvo mucho mejor de lo que esperábamos y el servicio fue muy bueno. Todos amables y atentos.
The place is not clean looking and more like a bar that serves food than a restaurant. Service was poor and things took quite some time. The kicker was the bill which had a 3 dollar charge for a glass of ice. Would never go back there
Awesome place. Been there 2x..absolutely outstanding both times. Only 1 complaint, the music (on Friday night, so understandable), is extremely loud. Otherwise, the staff, the service, ambiance, even the prices ( a bit high, in my opinion, but, for the location, completely normal) everything is top notch.
So much fun people watching and the mechanical bull is hilarious. Food was NOT good. Tasteless and low quality, but we had such a good time that it didn’t even matter !
Food wasn’t great service was ok we were only people in restaurant
Fun place, great bar and people watching, food ok, drinks better.
I would recommend it to a friend but tell them to go early. We got there at 9:30 and got a table right away which is good. We waited over 25 minutes for someone to come over to over table. It didn’t seem like they had enough servers. We finally put our order in and waited another half hour for the food.
It is something you should at least do once and cross it off that bucket list of things to do (bull riding) - go in a group is highly recommended - your sure to have so much more fun with a good group of friends who can encourage each other to at least ride the bull once. We had a ton of fun and our waitress was very sweet.
Slow service, bad service and drinks took forever. Would not recommend
Server was great. Food was slow to come but wings were great. Lobster and Avocado salad needed something besides celery greens. Overall good for a afternoon meal.
Overall it was cool Place. Very commercial and touristy which we expected. what I did not expect let them run out of steak on a Saturday night. I got stuck with a not very good turkey burger. My girl got the salmon you could tell and taste that they didnt clean the grill because the fish was oily and she barely ate it. They could have at least taken it off the bill.
Súper bien, comida exquisita sitio recomendable
It’s a fun place!
I came with a couple of friends and family and that sat us down at a little table that included a chair that was on the outside of the table where traffic was back and forth and people stand up right behind you to watch the bull riding. The drinks was horrible a waste of money too much ice and less liquor not to mention the hot wings was cooked too hard and the chicken quesadilla had more cheese than the chicken ugh what a worst experience. Overall the DJ was great with keeping the crowd laughing and the bull riding was fun and funny but I would not celebrate a birthday in there ever.
We had a great time it was my best friend birthday we was a little concern once we got in because there was hardly any black people and we were a little uncomfortable but we were welcomed the DJ was friendly the waitress and even some of the customer made small talk with us so ut made us comfortable and we had a great time. Shout out to the DJ who played all different genre of music.
From the time we arrived to the time we left it was so much fun. Best night ever!!!!!!!!!
Great food and great service always go her when we go to Radio City.
It's a wonderful place they just need to improve their food menu. The service is okay but they need more waiters since it can get crowded. Over all love going to Johnny Utah.
Went for the first time and I really enjoyed myself a friendly environment
The only issue was lack of sufficient restrooms. Wait was 35 plus minutes.
Great place for a quick lunch. Fun atmosphere. Reasonably priced for the area.
Good quality food , great lunch special, good service!!
You ppl my boyfriend here to celebrate his birthday and we literally had a blast. That mechanical bull was the icing on the cake.
Only complaint we have is food took too long to come out! A salad, sliders and Buffalo chicken dip should not take almost an hour to get to our table.
The servers and bartenders was awesome. I really appreciated how well the bartenders attended to me and my party.
The club was great, the people, the atmosphere, the food, I will be making a return trip
Fun place, all about the electric bill, and all about the kids riding the bull... unless I assume late evening.
Terrible-we all felt sick.
Went on a sunday afternoon. Food was marginal and service was very slow- considering it was not busy we were very surprised. The mechanical bull was good entertainment when the operator wasn’t busy with other jobs. Wishing the food/service matched the atmosphere.
I have been to Johnny Utah's before strictly as a bar patron however we decided to try the food there during our trip over the weekend. I booked a reservation for a table figuring the wait for one on a Saturday night would be long. Upon arriving, there was a line outside waiting to get in. We walked up to the door man and told him we had a reservation, showed him the confirmation to which he told us to go get in line. We waited outside for a good 15 minutes before getting to the door. At the bottom of the stairs we again to tell them we had an ACTUAL reservation as to not be charged the door cover. Once inside, the place was packed.. as to be expected for Saturday night in NYC. We stood at the " reservation check in " for another good 15 minutes while the two girls behind the counter ignored us and continued to run the " bull sign up " line through. I understand the bar was busy but a simple acknowledgement would have been appreciated. Once finally seated, our waitress came over in a timely manner. To be honest, our waitress was the only " good " part of experience Saturday night. We ordered fried mac & cheese which came out hot and in a timely manner. We then ordered our main entree's. I ordered the " Carolina burger " which according straight from their menu is "angus beef patty, bbq pulled pork, and provolone on a seeded brioche bun ". My sandwich came out on a 25 cent hamburger bun that the food vendors on the corners use. The burger itself was not bad, the pulled pork was dry. Thankfully it was served with fries because that became my meal. My girlfriend ordered the grilled cheese minus the tomato and add bacon. She took one bite and spit it out. While she was aware it was served on sourdough bread, the look on her face trying to choke this down was like she was drinking spoiled milk. For $16 and $17 one would think a couple sandwiches would be better than how they came out. We ate what we could off the plates, called the waitress for the bill and left.
We had an overall great time. The only issue was the mechanical was inoperable for the majority of our time there and the drinks were watered down.
