About Johnny Utah's
The Johnny Utah's experience begins with cuisine full of flavors & spices which embody the real meaning of Southwestern food. With hearty recipes of our cultural ancestors, Johnny Utah’s offers a menu full of zesty Texan BBQ ribs, savory steak fajitas, & authentic Mexican tequila.
Almost every seat in the house has a view of the dining room’s main attraction, Manhattan’s only mechanical bull. Showcasing the full essence of the Southwestern theme, the beast is theatrically surrounded with cascading metal chains & burning candles that echo “rings of fire,” signifying the celebration of the icon. The interior was designed as an interpretation of an old western mining shaft with salvaged antique tiles & pony-hide furniture.
Johnny Utah’s is sure to serve as an ideal location for both delicious Southwestern food & drinks, & late night reveling & bull riding.

Johnny Utah's Ratings and Reviews
I would love to review this place, however, when we arrived for our reservation that we booked through OPEN TABLE, the restaurant was actually closed for renovations. Not sure I can blame the restaurant. THANKS OPEN TABLE for having me drag my family across NYC for nothing.
Had lunch reservations for 4 at noon. Got there a little early. Doors were locked. Waited a while-they did not open before noon. There was no explanation of why they were late opening. Website states 11:30 opening. Very frustrating when you are trying to stay on a tight schedule in NYC.
We walked in to be seated and waited about 5 minutes while two employees had a conversation. Once seated we received prompt service with water but when we didn't know right away what we wanted to eat the server left. Which was fine but she never came back. I can't speak for how the food is because we walked out after only getting water and being there 20 minutes. There was no one else in the restaurant and only a few at the bar so it wasn't like they were busy.
Our reservation was for 5:30 on a Saturday so it was very quiet and had few customers, I'm sure it's another story at 9pm. The food was good and reasonably priced and our waitress was nice. Obviously it's a county themed place, but we did get to see 4 people ride the bull, which was a show all by itself. Weird, co-ed bathroom situation, though, wasn't a fan of that.
Went for a intimate birthday dinner. Food was terrible the burgers especially they where practically raw! Asked for a replacement and they give me another burger the exact same way! When we decided to leave the waiter practically threw the check at us. Will not return and hope you don't waste your night either!
This was my first time at Johnny Utah's, and it was amazing! My server was Christian, m and I WILL so be back. Christian was attentive and welcoming. The only thing that sucked was that I didn't get a table with the view of the mechanical bull, but I still enjoyed my stay! I will be back with a huge group of friends, see you soon christian!
I have never left a review before but feel it necessary to warn everyone that this was the worst service I have ever experienced. It took over 50 minutes for our drinks to arrive and over an hour for food during a slow day. We were not provided any napkins or utensils, so we survived with what I could grab off of the bar on my own.
I went for dinner and the whole experience was awful. We had 9:30 dinner reservations and the wait staff was awful. Our waitress was a frazzled mess then entire time, wouldnt come by our table for 20+ minutes, never asked if we wanted drink refills or anything. Our food was leuk warm, not even that tasty and was not worth the high prices. Overall the experience was very disappointing and I don't plan on going back.
The food was good, the waiter was very friendly but it took over an hour to get our food. The waiter felt bad for us and didn't charge for the sodas. The bar has a "bull" which was mostly ridden by kids but it was fun to watch. The Christmas decorations were sad...a tree with maybe 6 balls on it and not lit. I had the fried chicken and couldn't believe how good it was. It was an experience but probably won't go back.
We were looking for someplace fun & close after seeing the Rockettes. Johnny Utah's met our requirements. It was fun watching people try to ride the bull - especially since our seats were "ring side"! Loud and crowded but it was the holiday season! Food was tasty. We had several wait staffers meeting our needs. We'd go back!
Decided to give Johnny Utah's a second chance because it was under new management since my last experience and I am glad that I did . The service was great , the young lady who serviced us was friendly and knowledgeable . We got our food in a short wait and enjoyed the great cocktails that were on special while we waited . I am so glad I went back . And of course the bull ride as the center attraction was great to watch .
