What was I thinking? Whatever value there is in this place - it's not at lunch. Even the margaritas were terrible, which you might expect at night with lots of people trying to ride the bull - but at lunch? Don't go, just don't go.
Was extremely disappointed in Johnny Utah's. Upon being seated, it took at least 10 minutes for any server to come over to our table. We then waited over 35 minutes after placing our order for the food to arrive, and when it did, one of the meals we ordered was dry and luke-warm, meaning it had clearly been sitting in the kitchen for a long time waiting to be brought to the table. Johnny Utah's seems like the kind of place that is worth going to for drinks if you have a large group or a special occasion, but avoid the restaurant.

it’s a tourist attraction for people who want to pay too much for bottom shelf liquor on “ladies night”. there is no love put into the microwaveable food and the place was just as cold as the service. don’t bother making reservations because they don’t honor them.
Terrible place service was very slow, the bathrooms were dirty, the chef quit a few days earlier and didn't order enough food to have on site to prepare meals. So a limited menu became even more limited. The Cobb salad came out missing half of the listed ingredients, the medium burgers came well done. Two of the people in our group left to eat at another restaurant. A family get together in NYC started of poorly started off with a poor choice of restaurants.
We were in NYC to see a show and the holiday lights, and were looking for a place to eat that was nearby, casual and easy on the budget. Johnny Utah's fit the bill! We had one vegetarian with us, and she was easily able to find something to eat. We were seated immediately upon arrival, and the hosting and wait staff were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is energetic, with mechanical bull riding, and loud music. One word of caution, the music got much louder as the dinner crowd was leaving and more people were visiting the bar. It's not a bad thing, but it does make conversation more difficult.
Other than the restaurant being cold, the ambience, food quantity and quality and service from our waiter was superb. I will return on my next trip to New York.
Our waitress was amazing. She was always pleasant and helpful. This is an amazing restaurant from the moment you walk in the door, till you leave everyone is happy you are there.
Despite the entire restaurant being empty, there was a wait for the table. Once seated, it took 15 minutes before we got any sort of service for drinks, and another 15 minutes before our orders were taken. We asked for refills multiple times before receiving them. Overall, terrible experience.

Made these reservations at the last moment before we attended the radio city music Hall show the fact that they had some reviews that were not so good made me wonder if I should really do it but it was really cold in New York City and I knew that I wanted to find a place that at least I can order a glass of wine and sit down before the show started… To warm up or to just sit and wait till the start of the show… This place was exactly good for that purpose why i don't think the food was anything extraordinary the grilled cheese was quite costly for $14 and the french fries were really sweet fries which wasn't a big hit with my 16-year-old but they weren't bad the food definitely came hot as opposed to some of the other reviews stating that it wasn't… With that being said the server was quite attentive but it did take over 45 minutes to get a hamburger … There was also a mechanical bull in the middle of the bar which I clearly think it's more of a bar scene and it was quite entertaining… Then a guitar player came on and sang for about 45 minutes which added to the evening and made it a little more enjoyable I enjoyed the two glasses of wine I drank but at $11 a pop I was pretty shocked at the price… But then being in New York City you should be shocked and anything will I go back here ? most likely not but I will say it wasn't a bad place to hang out and wait if you're looking for somewhere to go while waiting for a show in New York City… I would suggest going to the bar and just having a drink
We had no idea what this place would be when we chose to go on a Wednesday night while in NYC... live music, free bull rides, good food and drink!!! A perfect place for our family of 4.... our 10 year old boys had a great time on the bull.... Mom and dad got to hear some live country music and rest our feet after a long and cold day touring the city!!! It’s location just across from Radio City Music Hall was perfect for our pre-Christmas Show meal!!!
Didn't realize there was a shortened menu before 5:00. However, they kindly let us make some menu substitutions. Food was delicious with large portions. Sitting by the door in the winter gets a little chilly. Our waiter, Mike, was very nice! Right across the street from Rockefeller center.
They called to change my Xmas eve reservation that I had for over 2 months. Kitchen was closing at 8 and our time was 830. Then we were in traffic and tried calling for over an hour and no one would pick up the phone. My brother walked in at 730 and no one came to the front desk to sit them so they left. Awful
The food was great!! But the servant disappeared as soon the the place got more customers and he was charging me $2.00 for a cup of ice that I order a drink on a rock are u kidding me charging $2.00 for 3 ice cubes , when for $2.00 I could buy the whole bag of ice!! So I claim that I wasn't going to pay for that none sense so he fix tge bill. Over all I would recommend but if going to a conversation with some one make sure is before the music get louder.
Very poor service, children chicken fingers were so hard they couldn't eat, I complained to the woman at front desk she said I like it that way, ribs were so cold and very small plate, waitress was too busy to bring forks and napkins, I went to pick them at the bathroom but was none, I have never eaten that bad in NYC, I complained online to management, they never replay, and very cheap wine $14 for 1/2 glass, Place was almost empty, yet they made us wait, until I complained, I should have read reviews before I went. My sister birthday was a disaster and would never recommend it, in fact run away from that overpriced place. Note: If you look at the piece of chicken on the plate actually was small and so hard that it bounced of the plate very over coated with flour and very very hard, and that was an adult dinner, one piece that's it.
Visited Johnny Utah's when in town for the holidays and had a stellar experience. Our service in the restaurant was great. With everyone in town for the holidays, we anticipated that most restaurants would have longer waits than usual, but our experience showed otherwise. The staff was very attentive, responsive and we even had time to stick around after our dining experience to have a drink at the bar and ride the mechanical bull. From beginning to end, we had a great experience and would highly recommend for large groups!
The food was good but it took one hour to get it; Since the waitress took our order, the food arrived exactly an hour later, and the place wasn’t even full so, that is my only complain about it.
I was just worried because we had ticket to a Broadway show and it was getting to late, but at the end, we ate like in 5 minutes so, we made it.
Severely understaffed on a Saturday night, no working bathroom, chicken dish came out not fully cooked, incredible long wait times.
Had to make two separate reservations at 5pm to accommodate our party of 21. Hostess was nice at checkin and attempted to get our tables together a bit was unsuccessful. Before being seated we learned the bathroom were closed temporarily due to a backup. We questioned if they should be allowed to be open but finding another place to eat for 21 people on Sat at 5pm a week before Christmas...impossible!Finally was seated at 5:15pm only to be told we needed to speed up the process and be out by 6:30pm as they needed the tables. So we ordered food immediately for the kids then about 30mins later they took our adult order. People in our group had to start using the bathroom so we had to go outside and find a place that would let us...Thank You FDNY store! Kids food arrived about 6pm they finished up and finally our food came out about sometime after 6:45pm. Rushed to eat at we had to catch our bus at 8pm. Attempted to have a conversation with the manager who was more interred in being combative than understanding. Missed our chance to see the Christmas Tree with our families.

We reserved two tables of 10 for 5pm following a day at Radio City Music Hall.
Upon arrival we were pleased with the venue- it had a casual ambiance and fun atmosphere. That initial impression was short lived as we were told at arrival that we would need to be out of the resturant by 6:30pm because they had many reservations that night. We would have appreciated a more nuanced approach to keeping us on their schedule but fair enough, it’s Christmas time in NYC.
We were promptly seated at which point several members of our party went to use the restroom. The first members of the group found the toilets overflowing and raw sewage on the floors of the restroom. We notified management and were then told that the bathrooms were not working and that we would need to go across the street to the NYFD store to use their bathroom. I cannot imagine operating a resturant in NY without working bathrooms is to code.
Nonetheless, we knew we would have limited options with the size of our party so we chose to stay- after-all, we would be out of there in under an hour and a half.
Despite their early warning, they didn’t come to take our order until around 5:45. We then proceeded to wait over an hour and a 1/2 before any food arrived. Our waitress came to us countless times to apologize and provide an update on our food as we had 9 children with us.
There were a number of issues with our meals once they arrived such as being undercooked or missing components. We had to ask for silverware, salt and pepper, and napkins.
Our poor waitress did her best to keep everyone happy but the manager was not nearly as committed to customer service. He was argumentative and seemed more critical of our reaction to the restaurants deficiencies than taking ownership and trying his best to satisfy us. Clearly they had a bad night but that’s no excuse for the lack of empathy or consideration.
The burger rolls were stale and the burgers themselves were not very good.
We visited Johnny Utah's on Saturday, December 16th before taking our grandchildren to The Christmas Spectacular. We had made our reservation on Open Table. The restaurant was relatively empty when we arrived, on time, for our table for four at 12:15 PM. We placed our order and waited more than 50 minutes for the food to arrive. The hostess made excuses like 'we had a rush,' (no one was there!) and your order will be up soon. When the food came to the table, my barbecued pork was COLD. My husband and granddaughter's burgers were charred black on the outside and they came with no ketchup or cutlery until my husband got up to ask, after we had requested them twice. They did offer to heat up my sandwich but I didn't want to take any more time or hold my family up from eating. I took my granddaughter to the restroom and it was dirty - worse still, when my husband took our grandson to the restroom (same place as it is unisex) the drains were backing up with sewage and he had to carry our grandson out so his shoes wouldn't contact the overflow. What a horrible, horrible experience! Don't eat here!!!!!

I'm surprised that this restaurant even appears on Open Table, it's very disappointing. Although the location is convenient to Rockefella Plaza, it's down in a basement and really doesn't feel special at all. The hostess was also our waitress and served behind the bar - while it was relatively quiet, it was obvious that her handling all of these duties was overwhelming. To make her and our life easier we went up to the bar to order everything. The food was OK, but the burger was undercooked - it should have been cooked medium, but it was raw in the middle and my friend who ordered it felt sick for the rest of the day. I regret going here and will never go here again.
It was horrible! Never got any food, waited 1 and 1/2 hours and never even got the app. Many people got up and left including us. Terrible management would never go again or recommend to anyone!! A complete waste of the short time we had to spend in NY city!
Unfortunately we went on Sunday 12/10/17 with a group of 11 for our first nights dinner in NY. I would like to say something positive but just can't. After almost two hours, still had not received food. We ended up leaving and eating at our hotel restaurant. It's a shame because the place looked fun.
Worse experience I’ve ever had. Had a relative from Ireland visiting. We ordered at 6:15. We left at 8:10 and NEVER GOT ANY FOOD!! Two people in our group couldn’t even stay to go to another place. At 9:00 we are at another place ready to eat. That was terrible. We did feel bad for our waiter.
Service was terribly slow. Waiter forgot about us. The hostess had to get our refills. Then had to wait another 20 minutes for you the check.
This is an Open Table first for me - avoid this restaurant. My party tried to find something redeeming about Johnny Utah's because Emily, the Manger, did try and make the experience better. After hearing how badly her staff treated us when our reservation time arrived, she immediately found us a table and did not charge us for drinks all night. She took our order right away so we were hopeful. However, we had heard from another party that the kitchen time was at least 1hour and online that is what others had experienced. Even with Emily pushing, which we saw she was trying to do for us, it took 90 minutes for our food to arrive.
The staff at Johnny Utah's truly does not care about the patron experience even when a manager gets involved. Emily checked in on us frequently but our assigned waiter was MIA. In fact, we didn't see him check on any of the tables in our section. The kitchen seems to be the biggest issue and seems to be the most major problem the place won't run well.
On the positive end, once the food arrived it was really good and everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered.
We're going to avoid Johnny Utah's and can't recommend another family experience it until they get a better staff and a staff that cares.

My wife and I made a reservation for dinner before a show. We were seated without menus and no server ever came to the table. After 15 minutes i was finally able to flag down a server to get drinks and put in our order. Drinks showed up and then appetizer. The appetizer was delivered with no plates or silverware. Again we had to flag someone down. Each time they tried to find the server for our section and she never showed. She was far more interested in taking care of a party of 15. Our food never showed and we had to leave after being there for 1 hour and 45 minutes. The only plus of the evening was the hostess who originally sat us. She was very friendly and told us there was no charge for the evening and gave us gift cerificates for a later visit.
NEVER AGAIN!!! We got there 30 mins before our reservation, they said they couldn’t sit us until our reservation time, yet there were 3 tables wide open, so we got some drinks at the bar and looked at the menu so we can order once we sat down. We finally get seated at our reservation time, of course at one of those empty tables we saw when we checked in. 5 mins after we sat we placed our order, an hour passed by and still no food. We asked the waiter the status 45mins in and he said I’ll send my manager over, we gave him another 10mins and no manager so we got up and left. This is obviously a TOURIST/B&T TRAP! The only reason i decided to bring my parents and my husband here was bc it was near the tree and st. Pat’s which is where they wanted to visit. No wonder the last time i was here was 10 yrs ago for a work happy hour, maybe only then was the service halfway decent. Don’t BOTHER!
Great drinks and excellent service in a convenient setting in Rockefeller Center. Will definitely return next time in town.

We had 2 wait 4 our food so long that they took something off the bill. Also we were the 1st ones their. Kids had fun
They claimed open table made a mistake with the reservation. Acted like they were doing us a favor by letting us sit and eat off a limited menu.
Started off by saying we had to hurry. Three burgers and a kids Mac and cheese took over an hour to come out.
No apologies. Waitress was nice enough. I tipped her over twenty percent but begged her to find a new job because that management group isn’t doing their servers any favors double booking the place.
