Almost every seat in the house has a view of the dining room’s main attraction, Manhattan’s only mechanical bull. Showcasing the full essence of the Southwestern theme, the beast is theatrically surrounded with cascading metal chains & burning candles that echo “rings of fire,” signifying the celebration of the icon. The interior was designed as an interpretation of an old western mining shaft with salvaged antique tiles & pony-hide furniture.
Johnny Utah’s is sure to serve as an ideal location for both delicious Southwestern food & drinks, & late night reveling & bull riding.
Right off the start. The girl at the front desk took a huge bite of whatever she was eating and then proceeded to talk to us with a full mouth of food. Then My reservation requested for a high top table. Did not sit at a high top table. The table we did sit at was very wobbly. Took 15 + mins for a waitress to show up. That is after we had to go ask them if we have a waitress. Many tables were waiting that long. Once we did get a waitress, she was very nice and apologized for taking so long. She took our drink orders and that again took a long time to get. The place was not very busy at the time I may add. The food was very good once we got it. The restrooms were interesting.
Great food, great service, and food was delicious Fun atmosphere.
What a horrible place! We ended up leaving shortly after entry.
Food was average, service was okay and I felt like I was in the movie Broke Back Mountain.
We went for lunch at 12:30 on a Friday and chose it because of its proximity to Radio City so we expected it to be packed with tourists but it was pretty empty. The ambiance is probably cooler at night with more people in the place, but empty it's kind of dark and not very exciting. The food was pretty good for bar food -- the quesadilla and nachos were good -- better than I expected them to be. I'd say if you're looking for some good bar food in that area it's convenient and solid.
The location of the place is really good, in Midtown Manhattan, and the place is cool.
However, I have to say I am a little disappointed about this place in some ways. My friends and I visited New York City for a couple of days this November. We booked a table at Johnny Utah's a month in advance because we saw in the website on Wednesday they had live music and line dancing, and we were so excited about it. However, when we arrived at the place, it was kind of empty; so, we asked the waiter about live music and she said the artists did not show up. So, we did not have any kind of live music or dancing all night.
Then, when we started to order, she said there was happy hour all night; so we started order like different kinds of beers that we never tried before. They were good and we got more, but when we received the bills we realized the beers we ordered were not included in the happy hour place and we were paying full price and nobody told us. So, we were a little disappointed about that and we could not talk to our waitress about it because she had finished her shift and left. Fortunately, the other waitress that took over was really nice, she listened to our concerns, she went to speak to her manager and she found a solution that worked for everybody. So, we were happier about it. It was a shame for the music and the accident with the waiter because I think it is a good place to go and listen to country music. Plus, the food was amazing. If you go there, try the California Burger, it is amazing.
Came for my birthday with a party of 10. We had a blast! Staff, food and drinks were great. Very cool and different.
It was for my cuzins bday... terrible service food ... do not recommend and will never go back
Had the Dallas Dunk and my wife had the burger and we were both extremely satisfied and the prices were great. Will definitely come back.
The food and service were great. We had the steak. There are a lot of steps to go down and up. I wish I knew there was an elevator available next door. If you have trouble with steps that’s a plus to know ahead of time. Bathroom set up was a lil different then I’m used too. Everyone uses individual stalls and there is a huge bar like sink where everyone washes their hands. Whatever works I guess. All in all I would definitely go back.
Food was good but service was horrible if not non-existent. Our waiter was rude and seemed annoyed that our table was only drinking water. After putting in our appetizers he disappeared for a while before returning to take our dinner order, and we didn’t see him again until one of us went over to check with him to see what was taking so long. The restaurant was nearly empty, so he was consistently hanging out at the waiter station and did not once come back over to see if we needed more water, etc until the food was finally ready.
Food was excellent, atmosphere was friendly and down to earth! The drinks weren't great at all. Besides that, I have no complaints.
I loved it, waitress was amazing. Great environment, great food. We will definitely be back.
The bull needs to be updated. Especially the missing horn on the bull.
They were closed when we arrived! Open table should verify the hours before allowing a reservation
Last time I was here was maybe 10 years ago. This place was pretty awesome and super fun. We came here a few days ago and the place is extremely run down. The bull is missing a horn. The flag by the table is so filthy, we had to switch seats because it was just gross!! All chairs are ripped and just overall the place is disgusting, dirty and run down! I don't recommend going there at all. There are way better places in the city!
Pretty good food but beware there isn’t any air conditioning in the place.
Came in for the lunch special and what a great burger it was
We had a fried chicken sandwich which was good as were the fries. My colleague ordered the "fried chicken" which was actually like a baked half chicken and it was only okay. It was quite Tuesday night but the lighting was very dark.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The potato-leek soup was amazing and the Bibb lettuce salad was refreshing. The table was split on the monkfish – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Everyone loved the flat iron steak. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
Fantastic! Great Customer Service!
Está bueno para hacer algo diferente. Buena comida entretenimiento y música en vivo
We were in NYC on vacation, booked a reservation at Johnny Utah’s. Took an Uber all the way across town to find a sign on their door stating “ closed for a private party 6:00-close.” We booked the reservation at 7:00 for 8:00 dinner called them- the girl said it was Open Table’s fault not theirs. And she wasn’t nice about it.
Turned up and was turned away due to private party. Booking was accepted however no warning prior. Met on arrival with a hand written note on the door. Poor and unprofessional.
It was actually not crowded at all at that time but the host was very, very attentive and we were taken care of smoothly.
Had a Lionel Richie concert to go to at Radio City,so we were looking for a place to eat before the show. We wanted some place that was close ,not too pricey and had fast service. Johnny Utah's fit the bill perfectly. The service was great , the food was good ,priced right and we got out of there in plenty of time to see the show.
Amazing food, quick service
Suggest going early. Gets seedy at night. Needs better bull too. Old. No handles. Needs to be cleaned. Good ok but very overpriced. Tourist trap. Once only
Went to Johnny for country music and when we arrived the server said on weekends they mix it up. Sounded like a rock and roll head banging noise inside. We had one over priced , poor quality poor drink and left. Went to another restuarant that was much better and still over priced drinks.
My nephew enjoyed his birthday. Already recommended to friends
It was a quite Saturday afternoon, we sat the bar, service was good, the lobster avacado salad was great.
Super Fun love it very friendly , my friends and i where able to catch up talk with out having to yell . The bull riding experience was super dope.
Go there for the atmosphere
Drinks are too expensive
Food is reasonably priced, but nothing to brag about
Had a great time. The food was good. Service was moderate. And riding the Bull was fantastic!
I was in NYC for the weekend. Searched open table for a place to have lunch on Memorial Day. Johnny Utah’s was available so made a reservation. When we got to the restaurant they were closed. Very frustrated.
Decent food and prices for a fun place that has a mechanical riding bull in the center
Our waiter Javier, was awesome. Very attentive, patient, encouraging, and pleasant. It was a pleasure to visit your establishment, for the first time, with my team for our Team Building Lunch, and receive such great service. We were pleasantly surprised, since we have been to so many restaurants around the city, and received poor service.
Also, we all took a shot at riding the mechanical bull which was a blast, my coworkers were raving about the long island i.t.'s stating that they were very smooth, yet effective, and we had the southern bell boot drink, that was delicious and has a sneak up on you affect.
Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good eats and a good time. Two Thumbs Up!! Will definitely be back.
I think we caught these guys on an off night. We showed up after Barnard commencement at RCMH, and was actually surprised that there were only a dozen patrons. I was a bit perturbed that both our appetizers and main entrees had to be returned because the orders were wrong, and we were the only five people actually dining, and three of them ordered the same burger. So yeah, they could've been way better considering there were two cooks on duty.
I just wasn’t overall impressed with the food or service to be honest. Our waitress came back twice once our food came and never refilled my drink or brought over condiments.
Loved the food here and the drinks were amazing. Its not too expensive, decent prices, besides the drinks of course . Wait staff was friendly. Definitely would come again !
