Our very discerning diners proclaimed the food and wine excellent. That and very good service made dining out a fine special event.
We have been to Johnny Delmonico's a few times before and had great experiences but this time the service was sub-par at best.
Our server took awhile after placing our orders to bring the wine we ordered. We were not offered nor did we receive any bread even though all tables around us received.
Our entrees were brought out and we never received steak knives prior to the entrees arriving (typically they are brought out soon after ordered is placed) so our food sat getting cold for a few minutes while the waitstaff searched for knives.
The waiter never poured re-filled our wine glasses which is also typically part of the service
Typically the service at Johnny Delmonico's has been excellent - perhaps that is why we were so disappointed in our experience this time.
We were there on a very snowy night so it was not busy. Food and Service were good. Our waiter was knowledgeable and talkative. I will go back again and recommend it to my friends.
The atmosphere was great in the beginning. The waiting staff was very punctual and polite. As the night went on the atmosphere seemed to change. The restaurant became noisy with the groups around us. The waiter came to us 3 times stating the food will be here shortly. Well i think after the 2nd time they should of gotten the hint that it was taking too long. The steak was ordered medium but received it medium well as there was no pink in it what so ever. The rack of lamb was ordered medium and was delivered medium rare as there was nothing but pink on the outside and really hard to cut. I was embarrassed as I was making screeching cutting noises on my plate. The lobster and the potatoes were done very well, the drinks were very tasty. This was my first time at this restaurant and spent a good deal of money for a meal for two. Overall I was disappointed in the quality for the price but very satisfied with the service.
As always, our favorite! Tried the Ribeye this time. Best ever! The apple crumble dessert is the best dessert in north America! AWESOME!
It was a nice experience. There was confusion over the type of steak I ordered so I didn’t get the meal that I wanted but it was okay. The waiter intimated that it wasn’t his fault but for the most part he was nice about it.
Very cool spot, like a Del Frisco's in New York or a bigger city than Madison, with beautiful wood paneling and a library look, made warmer and welcoming by the super nice but professional wait and host staff. I was sorry to find that the veal chop had been removed from the online menu but the rack of lamb was a delicious substitute and everyone else's food (steaks, wedge salads, asparagus and garlic mash potatoes) was excellent. With no prompting, we were gifted a complimentary birthday dessert with several tasty treats on it - despite the fact that we were the last people in the place on a Sunday night and I'm sure the staff was waiting to see our backsides and lock the door.
Our waitress was very friendly and the food was excellent. Large portions. Great place for parents to take their Wiscon students for a treat to a nice dinner out.
service was outstanding. It was the very rare occasion when we ask a waiter/waitress which of 2 wines she recommends, and she recommended the cheaper wine. She was excellent, as was the food. There did not seem to be any serious competition in the immediate area.
Service was good once they realized no one had waited on us during the first 15 minutes of being seated. Steak was very good. Garlic mashed potatoes were pretty salty.
Dined at Delmonico for my wives birthday. Food and wine were amazing, very friendly and welcoming staff. Good price point for high quality dining. Lisa was amazing we will definitely be back! Keep up the good work
Great steaks and drinks, great service, and nice ambiance.
Wonderful experience; absolutely great food— bread, appetizers, steak, wine selection, etc.
Excellent food and great service. We were seated in a table that we requested. The dry aged steaks are mouth watering. We will be back!
The food we had was outstanding. I am vegetarian and they had one vegetarian option, unfortunately, but it was quite good. My son had a T Bone and really liked it. The service was quite good and very attentive. I would certainly return.
We wanted to go to a high quality restaurant in Madison for date night so we went to Johnny Delmonico's. My wife and I both had steaks that were full of flavor. The restaurant was beautiful and our server was fantastic. We will definitely be back.
Great service and satisfying menu
Nothing really noteworthy. Service nice but slow. Food was OK, but not $46 for ribeye good. (all else ala carte) They had one option for bone-in for $70. Really ?? - its Madison.
Sorry, just underwhelmed. I think there was a reason it was darn near empty when we went.
Excellent wait staff!
It was very good, but it took a while to place our order then it took a while to get our food. The server offered us a free dessert for the wait, but we declined. We loved the server but I think she got sat too close together with a table of 5 ahead of us.
Our server, Lisa, was outstanding! Very pleasant and extremely attentive. We always love coming to Delmonico's to celebrate special occasions and for date night. Another great experience!
Very nice decor. Menu covers lots of choices. Sides sold separately. Limited dessert menu but desserts offered should appeal to majority of diners
Attentive service and friendly welcome upon entrance
Steak-Stuffed Mushroom Caps were excellent. Creamy Lobster Bisque was just average. Check out Rare Steak House for the best Lob-Bisque in Madison. Pan-roasted cod was actually more of a 'soup' and a tad disappointing. Service from Jonathon was excellent.
Wonderful restaurant! Fantastic, top notch steaks, but also quality seafood. Great hospitality and wonderful service from our waitress, Cynthia!
Our friends group received a good night gift card and we couldn't have made a better choice as to where to use it. Carey(?spelling) was an attentive server. He made recommendations as none of us had been to Johnny's for dinner. The drinks were delicious, steaks of normal steakhouse quality (we found them average, bot overly superior) did veggies good, and dessert very scrumptious. We left happy and very full.
Excellent service and amazing food. We have the filet and lobster and it was outstanding. Thanks
Excellent service and delicious food. We’ll be back!
A bit slow service was the only real negative. We were seated for 5 plus minutes before our waitress came to our table. Was about 70 minutes from being seated to receive our entree. Food and everything else was good.
Celebrated our son’s 21 birthday in style. Great food. Attentive staff. Nice ambiance.
The steak was very good, cooked according to my request. Garlic mashed potatoes were good, but not great. Worst creme brulee I have ever had. Also, shared a flourless chocolate cake--it was hard and chewy. Waitress was attentive and engaged. Cocktail, cherry mash (?) With gin was bland. Felt meal was overpriced in relation to quality of offering.
Inattentive service at the bar, even though it was not crowded. 2 of our 3 steak entrees were over cooked and one was sent back, so that took another 15 minutes.
Everything was wonderful here!!! It was our first time at the restaurant and we had an amazing table in the corner and the food was like nothing I've ever tasted!! Would definitely recommend!
Always phenomenal food and cocktails here. It is a treat to dine here.
The food was excellent! Unfortunatley, they forgot the cheese that was suppose to come with my salad. I would recommend the restaurant to others.
Our service was incredibly slow last night, even though it wasn’t super busy. Good thing we didn’t have somewhere to be. Food was great, as always.
Excellent service and food!!
Not the same as when they first opened. When first opened they were the go to place for great steak. Our steak the other night was just good not great. Tuesday night before Valentine’s Day and they didn’t have the bottle of wine we had selected from the list. Service was also good not great. If we didn’t have a gift card to use we would have preferred Fleming’s or Ruth Chris.
Had a nice night overall. Service was simply wonderful, but food was just average and slightly underwhelming. The tuna starter was a nice choice, but didn’t get much flavor from sauce and could have been seasoned better. Both salads were good( Had beet carpaccio and the Caesar), but the beet was the better option, Caesar was overdressed. The mains were good and cooked properly, but ordered the Brussels as a side and was quite disappointed with the preparation and underwhelming flavor.... For dessert the creme brûlé was bland and lacked a proper brûlé, I had the chocolate Torte, which I preferred over the brûlé.
Excellent food and the service was awesome. We loved our waiter!
A great place for a birthday celebration with our family.
Overall the food was not good. However the staff made up for everything. Jeff(hopefully the correct name) was a gem. Thanks for making the night fun and eventful!
