Have been going to Johnny Cascone's since the night we got engaged in 1989...food is always outstanding and service excellent!
Very good food and staff. They are closing for remodeling for a week cant wait to come back in May!
My dad started taking us to Cascone's every time we came to Kansas City starting in the 1960's. One of the first restaurants I dined at when I moved here in 1977 and have been coming back ever since. Great food and atmosphere. The staff treats you like family. Chicken parm is bigger than your head! Lasagna to die for. Chicken limonota was my dad's favorite and is now what I order. This is where we go for birthdays or when family is in town
Always an outstanding meal, we love Cascone's!
Delightful service and delicious food delivered in a reasonable tim.
When we arrived for our 7:15 reservation there were 20+ people waiting for a table. They put our name down on a list and took people first come first served. At about 7:30 I asked if they were going to honor the reservation or not and was told everyone here has a reservation that is how open table works. I told him we use open table quite often and have never had this problem. Not wanting to wait for another 45 minutes we left. Carmen’s in Brookside was able to accommodate the reservation we booked on open table on our way over. So in the end we got a better meal from a much better restaurant.
We won’t be back to Cascone’s but my suggestion to open table is to call and explain how your system works or kick them off it as it will start to reflect your service negatively.
I got the sense whoever is managing the restaurant is coasting on its past success. It was very busy when we were there, but the food just wasn't that great. The fork-tender Osso Bucco was definitely the highlight , but it was slathered in a gravy that was nowhere near as tasty as the pork itself. I NEVER salt my food at the table and I salted this food twice, but it didn't help that much. The Alfredo had no flavor. Not butter, parmesan or garlic. I don't even know how one makes an alfredo that doesn't taste like any of its tasty primary ingredients. As dishes passed by, we could see that each dish of food was drowning in its corresponding sauce. I like sauce as much as the next person, but only if it has good flavor and adds something to the dish. None of the three sauces we tried that night were good. When we left, my fiance said that Olive Garden (which he hates) is better and I agree.
I loved the centerpiece of the decor - the lit branches, but the rest of it felt mismatched and like they occasionally updated this or that. I'm shocked at how busy they were, considering the quality of the food. I haven't been here in years and I suspect they used to be really good, but just don't seem to be trying anymore.
After all of these years, the food is only getting better. The service was great, especially considering how busy the restaurant was. The staff was running and amazing! Everyone was exceptional. That includes the host who spent extra time with our 6 and 2 year olds. He made them feel special. Our waitress was totally on top of things, we wanted for nothing. This has always been a special place for our family.
An old family favorite we visit when in town. Generous and very flavorful portions.
A group of friends and I went to eat here before prom. It was overall a good experience. We loved having the choice of the high school event menu, even though I do not believe it was rung up correctly for the check. The food was delicious and we all enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it.
It was awesome! We just finished our leftovers....so much delicious food!
One of my favorite restaurants
My husband and I have been eating here for many years. The food is always delicious and served in a timely manner. The servers have always been professional and very attentive. We will continue to return often.
Food is way to expensive for the value. Came for the 2 for1 on Sunday still cost me $54 and no alcohol. Probably will not come back or recommend to a friend. Sorry other places much cheaper.
The meal was great and it always tastes so good. We usually have either spaghetti or lasagne, and we weren't disappointed in the food. The service was slow, though, and we could have used more bread. Whatever happened to the olive oil dipping sauce? That used to be served as a regular item, now we never see it. We were seated in the back near the kitchen and it was a bit chilly by the window--they need some new caulk around them to help keep out the air coming in under the windowsills. We like the big portions, and especially enjoyed the BOGO meal. Thank you so much for that.
As usual--a great, cozy, authentic restaurant. Can't be beat!!
First time there - everything was fantastic!!
Service was extremely well! We split the lasagna, chicken Parmesan, And fettuccine dinner. It was definitely enough for two. We ordered a side salad with an up charge of five dollars for splitting the dinner. Our server was extremely nice and the assistant to her was very very nice. We arrived before the rush and had a very pleasant experience. We have not been here in a few years but intend on returning again and again! Thank you💜
Love this restaurant Feels like old school Italian, the food is excellent
Johnny Cascone's is the 'go-to' favorite of our social group! There food is excellent - the service is 1st class and the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. The live music that was playing on Sat evening was great - added some ambience to the evening!
Good job all the way around JC's! Thank You!
Food and service was excellent.
We had been here before & had the same table which we liked as a round table is nicer for conversation-- but much to our surprise &displeasure it had a paper table covering. MY son asked "why" did not receive an answer & it was not removed not nice!!
My family has always enjoyed coming to Johnny Cascone's. The food is always great and never disappoints us. On Friday and Saturday night they have live music. The music is not too loud that you can't carry on a conversation so it's very nice to hear.
Always good food and friendly staff. The beef tenderloin special was delicious and the cannelloni is always fantastic.
We ate in the bar. First visit to Johnny's. The server/bartender Dana was fantastic and made the evening a success. Singer and pianist in dining room really added to the authentic atmosphere. Highly recommend this spot.
Such an amazing experience! Will definitely go back! Went for dinner before a school formal, very yummy food and such a great atmosphere!
Our favorite Italian restaurant in KC!
Excellent food always! Never disappointed. Great service and wonderful ambiance.
We have been going there for years and always good food and friendly service!
love the seafood stuffed artichoke and the stuffed mushrooms for apps!
Their diablo is wonderful as is the white fish! A little heavy on the salad dressing, might be a good idea to serve on the side??..
Overall, love you guys!!
My wife and I really liked it. Red pasta sauce was fantastic. My only concern was small portions for price.
Great food as always. Fast and very friendly staff.
great food! always a good choice
Food was delicious!
The sound system was breaking up which made it annoying to even have conversation.
Olive oil blend with bread w cost extra.
Most Italian restaurants have it as complimentary.
Overall, it was an ok option.
This was an overall great place to meet friends and catch up. They were very
accommodating and did not rush us through the meal. Great wait staff.
Johnny Cascone’s is the place we always go for Italian. Such a cozy place with great food and great service. Never get tired of this place.
The overall experience was good. When we got the bill there were 2 more charges on the bill. We weren’t told in advance about these charges. Why would you charge for a spicier tomato sauce on Veal Parmigiana? Does it really cost more to make it spicy? And I substituted sauté spinach for the pasta on the Chicken Soto. Is spinach so expensive it couldn’t be substituted? I don’t appreciate being nickel & dimmed when eating out.
Our meal was excellent and the service was exceptional. The decor is a bit dated but everything was so good we didn't care!
it was pretty empty due to the super bowl! Lucky us
our server was great and soo was the food
We love coming to Johnny's on Sundays. They have absolutely the best fried chicken, yes I said Fried chicken in town. We start with the neck bones which are out of this world, order the Sunday special which is again the best fried chicken -just like I used to make. The meal comes with mashed potatoes and green beans but I prefer their version of "hasbrowns" which are potatoes and onions and I love the Italian grilled vegetables. Save room for dessert by taking home one of the four pieces of chicken you will get and don't miss out on the homemade peach cobbler. My understanding is a sweet little lady comes in weekly just to make the desserts.
You can't go wrong with Johnny's. Can't wait to go back again!
We have been to Johnny Cascone's multiple times and enjoyed each visit. There was a keyboard player the last time we ate and our table was right next to him. It was not overly loud, but it did make having a conversation difficult. The food was excellent as always and the waitress very friendly and fun. Very generous portions.
Very good service and food
