Johnnie's Hideaway Ratings and Reviews
Was hoping to find a local spot with some local color. Restaurant was in the middle of a shopping center with way too much traffic. Wine was hugely, absurdly marked up. All of the seafood dishes (which I had high hopes for being so close to the water) were covered in some sort of sauce which usually means not the best or freshest quality. Waitress told us all of the dishes were pre prepared and no substitutions or changes were allowed. Friend and I both wound up eating steak. Highlight was a front desk staff that was quite accommodating in responding to our seating preference. Waitress tried hard and was really not her fault.
Our waiter also had a very large group so we were practically ignored. Had to ask him to take our wine order. Food was just ok. I had sea bass with mango salsa. The mangos were not ripe and were hard. Sea bass was very good though. Have dined here several times. This was not a good experience
Loved it!! Was there back in February this year. Had great experience than aswell. Loved the wine pairing with my rib eye. Table side truffle butter. Side lobster tail to die for! Only thing I can say I ordered the asparagus came with no hollindase. Blain tasting, but it did not ruin the meal. I recommend eating here every night if I could.
My only issue was that we ordered the Seafood Tower as an appetizer, we did not see this on the menu and were not told the price, which when we got the bill took us by surprise. It was exceptional but being a business dinner we would not have ordered something so expensive.
I ordered the tomahawk ribeye 32 oz! I ordered the steak medium and it melted in my mouth and was the best tasting steak i have ever had! The oysters were also incredibly tender n delicious! I would definetely reccommend johnnies hideaway for its excellent food and value! We are planning to go back again this week
Very disappointing experience. They gave us the worst table in the house which was crowded for four people and rushed us through the entire evening. Then they charge what Ruth Chris's charges for food that Longhorn does better. If you're spending that kind of money, just go to Ruth Chris or Eddie V's and be done with it.
I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a peaceful setting. It is over looking the water and it was great. The food was excellent and we were not rushed. The restaurant is great to just have a nice dinner or celebrate a special occasion like ours for our anniversary. Great place to relax.
It's difficult for me to judge Johnny's because I'm not familiar with its local market. In Orlando, it might be one of the best. In other cities, it would have to place down in the middle. In the manner of so many of Orlando's other attractions, Johnny's presents the illusion of being an excellent restaurant. The prime meat and fresh seafood are there, the extensive winelist is there, the attentive service and waterfront setting are there. But, like the manmade lake and shopping center outside, things don't quite fit. Some of the preparations, such as the pre-dinner salads, rely more on quantity than quality and have some bizarre, cheap ingredients. The steaks, while touted and priced as first class, are only average. Overall, I can't give Johnny's really high marks, and that's a shame because they have taken the time to assembly some of the necessary parts for a fine restaurant. Maybe a good consulting chef could help, but in the meantime, I would recommend going elsewhere.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at Johnnie's Hideaway this past Saturday night! The food was incredible, the wine list was wonderful (the sommelier complimented us on our choices!), and the service was impeccable. Our server, Darien, was adorable and took excellent care of us. The overall experience was amazing, and we left happy and satisfied. We would recommend this restaurant to everyone and we will definitely go back whenever we are in Orlando!
Top level clients I had for a dinner
Everything from the entrance to the food. Ambiance service was absolutely fantastic
To everyone at Johnny’s Hideaway thank you for a wonderful evening
I will absolutely be back again for another event
You guys do it right
Excellent service, fantastic ambiance, loved the guitar player out on the deck area. The seating area for dinner was elegant and well done. The food was excellent. the outdoor deck bar was charming and the guitar player was an excellent addition. The crowning moment was when the guitar player played a special song for my 1st time traveling six year old grand daughter. Got to say made her night.
We took guests for a business meal and they enjoyed it very much. Those that had the cedar plank salmon loved it, one said best ever. My steak was OK - seemed salty, and the salad was a bit soggy, but OK. So overall pretty good, but not great. Good service and moderate noise level made for good conversation. I would recommend it - convenient location.
Travel extensively for business and have never had such bad service or food prep. Nothing went right at Johnnie’s tonight. Party of 9 took 2 1/2 hours to eat without any dessert course or after dinner drinks. Drink and appetizer order took 45 minutes to fulfill, and was not correct. Dinner finally arrived over 2 hours after being seated. All meals served cool, which sine guests ate because they were starving. Some cold meals were sent back. Sides orders were missed. Were told about their famous cheesy bread, which we were told was to show up as late as 2 hrs. into dinner, but never showed up because they ran out. Reason being they failed to account for the evenings dinner reservations head count. On the 8th inquiry for a manager, she finally came to our table. Was apparent she did not have proper training to address the situation. Sent the check back twice to be adjusted for what we received. In short, dinner was a “train wreck.”
