John J Jeffries at the Lancaster Arts Hotel Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. Dinner was nice (our server, Henry was excellent)! After dinner we went to the bar for an after dinner drink, and was very disappointed. It was only around 9:30 p.m. and the atmosphere was almost depressing. The music was awful for a bar environment. When we asked the bar tender to change it, he said he couldn't because the owner wants his music played (even though the owner was not on the premises); very disappointed!
John J Jeffries is a great restaurant that uses seasonal local foods to create their menu. They provide a small tasing of soup once you place your order; fantastic breads, amazing drinks and phenomenal food. The service is always superb! The servers are knowledgeable with amazing recommendations.
Great farm to table restaurant. However, it just misses excellence with a few execution errors on food preparation. Menu is creative, and dishes are tasty. The wine selection is great. Their standout or signature dish is beef tartare. I would strongly recommend it. Service is excellent, and unlike most other restaurants, they do not skimp on desserts.
The only true negatives are ambiance and noise. The restaurant with its small eating space and brick walls is too loud. However, I would still strongly recommend this local gem to anyone. It is one of the elite restaurants in Lancaster.
We dined for New Year's Eve. The Prix Fixe Menu was superb. We enjoyed the wine pairing too. The venison was superb as was the mushroom soup. The lamb cut was a little rough but still delicious. All of the dishes were more than good. April was an excellent server. She received our highest recommendation. We treat New Year's Eve dinner as a very special occasion. John Jeffries did more than meet our expectations.
The food was very good, not nearly as expensive as originally thought, and the servers were very knowledgeable. The ambiance is nice and quiet. There were no children in the restaurant when my wife and I went. (Wouldn't recommend for families with kids. Caters to couples or business lunch/dinner.) Overall great experience.
Excellent server with resonant voice, charming personality, excellent knowledge of cuisine offered. Lovely intimate ambience. Fine service, neither too deliberate nor at all rushed. Just right. (The welcoming hostess had a decidedly cool vibe, as in, not overly welcoming. To us, it did not quite mesh with overall tone of restaurant. ) This was a very nice dining experience and we will look forward to a return.
We selected this Restaurant because they are organic & they have gluten free options. I must have mentioned we were celebrating our Anniversary when I made reservations because they wished us a Happy Anniversary & offered us either free Bubbly or dessert for our celebration. The waiter was very nice & took great care of us. We enjoyed the food & the atmosphere very much!!!
As you enter you are welcomed by a beautiful setting, a delightful marriage of antique cut stones and the luxuries of modernity. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Each dish was exquisite - created with fresh, high quality ingredients. The service received was superb, with attentiveness and attention to detail above par.
Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for any celebration or even just a nice evening out!
The food here is amazing. Presentation was top notch and was a lot of fun for a party of 7. We were able to talk across the table at a fairly loud level without distutbing other diners. Service was impeccable, our waiter, Henry, accurately described all of the menu choices and was spot on with attentiveness. We will be back!
We returned for a holiday dinner since our last experience was so wonderful. Again, our server John was a gem. He paced our meal well, made helpful suggestions and is was in general, a delight. He is a big part of why we drove an hour to have dinner. The food was prepared beautifully and was delicious with one exception. Those that choose the lamb all commented it was a little tough. Everything else was a complete delight and we look forward to returning again.
Exceptional food and service at John J. Jeffries - we are never disappointed when we dine here. We love the locally sourced ingredients and the chefs are superb. Outstanding beef and pork options, and an intimate, relaxed vibe makes this a place we'd like to return to again and again.
