John J Jeffries at the Lancaster Arts Hotel Ratings and Reviews
This was our third time eating at John J. Jeffries. Each time, the seasonal/local menu has outdone expectations. Our waiter, Henry, was both knowledgeable and friendly. The menu was highlighted and our questions were answered. My wife ordered the Pork Gordita and I had the steak, both wonderful.
This is a great location for special occasions and dates.
I do believe that we had a relaxing and enjoyed the food as well as the service.
The food was very well presented.
The only comment I would make concerning the food is that there are people who do not like spicy food. At the same time it was a joy to be served my food minus the spice.
I am not sure why many restaurants today think they need spicy, and tell you sorry but it was made that way and should be as accomidating as you were.
Our server, Angela, was one of the best servers I've had. Local sourcing of food can cause this, but ran out of all pork dishes by our 7pm reservation on a Saturday night. Too bad, there were some lovely choices we were interested in. Noted a creative twist on many enjoyable ingredients!
My wife and I enjoyed our first anniversary dinner at the always impressive John Jefferies. It was an incredible experience and our second visit was as enjoyable if not better than the first.
We had mentioned online that it was our anniversary and both the host and server were both aware of our anniversary and we received complimentary sparkling drinks.
We will certainly return once again!
JJJ was a must on places I needed to visit since graduating from F&M in 2015. Fortunately there was a wonderful selection to chose from for their three (3) course dinner for $55. There was 2 of us accompanied by a wonderful Riesling from Lehigh Valley. $170 including taxes and tip. The salmon cake was above average and the NY Strip Steak was cooked perfectly rare. A wonderful Pumpkin Creme Brule to top it off. For $55 I got responsibly sourced food cooked by a great chef. Cannot ask for anything more. A steak in NYC cost $55 so to get a full meal for the same price was wonderful. Highly recommend for anyone looking to bring a date.
We had the pumpkin and sweet potato bisque, the Jim Bim Bop, and the 'lil Ponderosa Ribeye (the available cuts of steak vary daily). Everything was incredible! The bisque was great with just the right amount of creaminess. The Jim Bim Bop was a great take on the Korean bibimbop. The kimchi was a little more tangy than a traditional kimchi but it complimented the spicy pork. The steak was grilled as close to perfection as they could have gotten it. I will definitely visit again the next time I'm in Lancaster.
A beautiful dinner out. I love Open table or I would never have known of this gem. I had the beet salad which was scrumptious. My guest had the chowder which was yummy. I had the strip steak and he had the stuffed pepper. He had pumpkin cake with ice cream and I had pumpkin crime brûlée. I had the white wine blanc ,low in sulfites. Service was excellent,we had a great waitress. It is a classy restaurant but you don't have to dress up. I would go back in a minute since it's a farm to table restaurant inside a hotel.
'Our recent Date-Night Outing -
'What a wonderful experience to indulge in The John Jeffries Restaurant !
The service experience - Greeting - seating - dining service & attentiveness in a welcome quiet professional presentation that enhanced - well prepared cuisine in creative presentations that add to a dining experience that you will long appreciate the evening or afternoon of 'Very Well Done' !
We greatly enjoyed our experience. Our server was outstanding, and the food was extremely well prepared. Too often "farm to table" gets overdone, with an extravagant list of ingredients in a dish, rather than focusing on the preparation of the basics. My ribeye steak was prepared perfectly, with excellent broccoli and quick fried fingerling potatoes. My wife's pork shank was very well done with a nice roasted spaghetti squash and broccoli. We would highly recommend the food and the service and would love to come back!
We chose this place without looking at the location, and ended up driving way out of the area where we were staying (Leola). We are so happy we did. The food was absolutely delicious and we had a really nice experience. To start, we were very happy with the wine list, as they had a few gems that we don't usually find. We ordered two appetizers that I would recommend- the scallops were awesome and the pork belly was even better. For our meals- my boyfriend ordered the steak tartare, which I thought was exceptional - fresh and bright. I ordered the deer which was equally delicious and very flavorful. Dessert we went with the pumpkin creme brûlée, and the honey lavender creme brûlée - both were everything we hoped they would be. Would definitely return if in the area & recommend to someone visiting!
JJJ is our favorite restaurant! We love that we can choose anything on the menu and trust that the ingredients were carefully and consciously chosen by the chefs themselves! The water even tastes good...because it is filtered. Most of the ingredients, even all of the poultry and meats, are locally produced on local small farms. I am gluten intolerant and they use gluten free ingredients whenever possible. They always graciously give us kimchee to us in addition to the bread because I can't eat the bread. We are spoiled by JJJ! Keep up the good work! There is only one recommendation....I would love to see a vegan option in the large plates!
