farm to Table style menu. Good wine selection. Our favourite spot for date night or special occasions.
We had a wonderful meal with exquisite service – probably the best we've ever had in Lancaster!
Our server Karl was EXCELLENT!! Will definitely celebrate more occasions here!! Definitely will Recommend!! Five Stars!!
Food and service were very good. Noise level made it difficult to hear others at our table.
Wonderful beef tartare as well as the oysters and scallops
Server was overworked and did not pay attention to us. Food was excellent!!!
We love dining at your restaurant and have been many times. We always make it a point to come to Lancaster to both experience the Central Market and eat at your restaurant. But this time - we had a very disappointing and unsafe experience with one of the entrees. The rest of the food was amazing but the guinea hen served was poorly breaded, the flavor was not very good but the serious issue was that it was undercooked - when cut into there were lines of blood that formed where the meat was cut. It was clearly undercooked and very unsafe. Fowl should never have blood present and this wasn’t just a drop - there was a significant amount. We were not happy with the apparent response from the kitchen which was then passed along from the server, that dark meat is often gamey and therefore was to blame for the blood and the server stated she didn’t notice as much blood when she herself checked it out which was insulting as if we weren’t telling the truth. Yes guinea hen is gamey but there’s no excuse for blood to be in fowl like that and it needs to be addressed and instead of attempted to be explained away with untruths, to deal properly with a mistake and not undercook anymore fowl to be served to anyone else and potential make people seriously ill. Please be more careful because that dish could have made us sick and potentially seriously so. Due to that event and how it was explained away improperly we don’t plan on returning to the restaurant but perhaps someday in the future we’ll reconsider. Other than that dish the food was wonderful as was the service other than the server’s and kitchen’s excuses rather than thanking us for making them aware of a serious issue. We were glad the dish was removed from the bill and the server did provide a free desert which was extremely nice. Thank you for all the past wonderful meals and we hope your kitchen remains more attentive to proper meat care for the safety of your patrons and the success of your business.
Love, love , love this restaurant!!!! From the food and service, there’s no better dining experience in Lancaster County.
Friends suggested this place and it was the first time for both of us. What a wonderful experience and Henry, our server was GREAT.
Was right inside the front door. Curtain kept on blowing against my husbands head whenever someone opened the front door. Service and food was up to par but I'd rather be in the main dining room for paying the same price. Drinks were small and our waiter said all drinks are measured and the bartenders get a bonus if they turn a profit.
Awesome food!!! The Truth Steak Tartare was absolutely delicious! The service was a little slowish and not fully engaged, at least at first...
John J Jeffries has become our special occasion restaurant choice, replacing the Aromas Inn. Good in every particular. ( actually outstanding in every particular.)
A few friends and I try to get together every few months and we frequent Jjj because the food is always amazing.
Loved it!!! They served very tasty creative dishes. I took my two girlfriends there for their birthdays! I must say they were both enamored with the restaurant. We will definitely be back
This is one of our go-to places anytime we're in Lancaster. I was a bit concerned upon arrival because of the size of the bar crowd. We were seated in the front room which was very noisy and were going to leave. Our server went through a lot of trouble to find us a table in the back room which was excellent. The food is always creative and the preparation is excellent. There is a great selection of entrees and the specialty bar cocktails are outstanding. We highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was fantastic and the service great, but it was one of the loudest atmospheres I have been to. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our birthdays and Valentines, and it definitely wasn’t the ambiance we hope for. But the food was absolutely delicious!
My wife and I always choose John J Jeffries for dinner when are staying at a near-by B&B. The food, staff, and ambiance are always fantastic. We've considered checking out other restaurants in the city but then figure why deviate from a near-perfect experience!
We had 7:15 reservation. They couldn’t seat us and kept saying - just 5 more minutes . We wound up waiting 35 minutes . — which was quite late for my 88 year old mother
We asked if they would compensate us by buying a drink at the bar and they refused.
They put an automatic tip of 20% - as there were 6 of us .
My husband asked if he could reduce the tip , as he felt that was reasonable due to long wait . The manager refused and did not offer anything else .
Bad form . It would have cost them nothing really to comp us something and it would have totally changed our view of them .
The food and service by waiter were very good
The menu is quite varied, frequently changes and always contains many unique and creative ideas. The quality and presentation of the food is always excellent. Being a locally sourced farm-to-table restaurant one expects occasional sold-out items on the menu and JJJ always has interesting and suitable substitutions.
The cocktails were good. Ordered the salmon tartare as an app at the bar and we enjoyed it. The bartenders were knowledgeable and let us know the specials even after letting them know we had reservations for a table. Once we got to our table the server was nice enough, however he didn't know what he had for specials and even told us he didn't have the scallops when we told him the bartender let us know what the specials were. Only until he saw were were displeased with the fact that both seafood specials were not available did he check with the kitchen. Lo and behold, they did have scallops! Really poor showing and while I'd like to check out the other menu items, I did not care for the lack of attention by our server. Would rather just eat at the bar.
The bone-in pork chop was superb, you can really taste the difference when fresh local ingredients are used!
13 satisfied diners. Not one complaint! Bartender/mixologist is a keeper.
The Shanker was unbelievable...I will be coming back for that!
Interesting menu selection. All items were described in great detail by our waiter. Salads, soup and small plates were delicious. Lamb entree had great flavor, but a little tough. Still very good. Will definitely return. The service was outstanding.
Loved everything about our experience. It would have been nice to be informed prior to the evening that it was a price fix menu and what the price would be. We loved it nevertheless!
For our first time at the restaurant we were so happy with everything. The server Henry was by far the best server we've had anywhere in Lancaster county. The food also was amazing. I tried things I didn't ever think I would and to my surprise I really enjoyed it. I would recommend the restaurant to everyone. The price is worth it. We will he going back!
Food was great - but would have preferred to know it was a set menu with a set price. Was worth it, just surprised.
We love John J. Jeffries------always a great atmosphere, great service, and great food!!!
Awesome food, service and atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant. We'll definitely be back.
The service was great, both at the bar and at our table. The food was fine. I’m from out of town and read so many great reviews, so maybe there was too much hype for the food to live up to. I would come back and give them another try as their menus are interesting.
My wife and I love the food and atmosphere alike. The menu evolves to utilize fresh, locally sourced ingredients so there is often something new to try.
The food was delicious and service was great. We had a very nice time.
Grant was our bartender....very knowledgable and mixed very nice drinks. April was our server and she was very attentive while allowing us to have space. Service and atmosphere were excellent.
The food was unique but enough variety that I recognized many of the items. The food was fantastic and the service was great too.
We had a nice evening at John J Jeffries. Both our meals were prepared very well. Our waiter was fantastic. We weren’t in the main dining room, so atmosphere suffered a little. The pace was a little quick, so it didn’t feel like we had much time to sip our wine and enjoy the evening out.
We had an excellent meal. The steak tartar was very good.
We chose this restaurant for our Valentine's Day dinner. I liked the healthier options of grass-fed meats from local farms. The menu had a good variety of dishes with a vegetarian option. Everything I had from the beet & lentil salad to the French press coffee and flourless chocolate cake was absolutely delicious. The only thing I would change is an option for more private seating. The tables were very close together, so noise and privacy of conversation were a slight issue.
We had a wonderful date night! Thanks for the great food & service!
Absolutely outstanding, They area's best farm to table restaurant. Well worth the drive from anywhere. Been there 3 times in a year and half the menu was different every time.
We are regulars at JJJ and feel like family when we visit. The food, drink and service is always top shelf.
